on the phone with VS now. it took 30 seconds for diagnostics to tell me i have a defaulty usb port. :'( im so upset. i just .....ed out some dude on the phone for the past 15 minutes. i am FURIOUS. they are doing upgraded expedited shipping acrossed the board and a new second sharkskin for free. but the fact that i have to already send this device back is absolute crap and will forever leave a sour taste in my mouth for vaporshark.

You should of had yer Mom call.

I prefer the dna40 over the rdna40. Same device, except wireless charging, just smaller. Got the rdna40 about s month ago then got the dna40 2 weeks ago. The rdna40 is in a drawer and I'm exclusively using the dna40.
I don't have the DNA 40 (Only the rDNA 40 and DNA 30), but I think I can fully agree now with the size of my 30! The size difference is significant (and 40/30 are very close). And I don't use the wireless as much as I thought I would either.

Now I don't have the beefy battery, or 10 extra watts, or temp sensing, but I'm a kayfun type MTL vaper who is too impatient for the temp builds anyway. Plus this lipo or whatever battery seems to be around 1.5 days for me thus far.

Anyway - I'll officially quit mentioning the 30 with this post! The 40 is clearly the superior device and the thread is about the sweet 40 anyway!

Dang you, I going yup buy a dna to go with my rdna but I don't want to neglect one instead. Looks like an rta is in my future instead.

Well, if someone's still on the fence for this VS dna40....

I got one since the beginning of this week, and I'm absolutely in love.
I own a VS Rdna40 as well (large screen, end of 2014 batch, no dna40 issues at all, lucky me), and I've lately come to realize the 510 connector is the weak spot and the only problem with it (yes, modulo dna40 bugs...)

Just to be clear: the Rdna is a great device, but the 510 connector is suboptimal and not on par at all.
Since my first days with it (the Rdna), I got the impression it was reading base resistances constantly about 0.02/0.03 higher than my vaporflask and another dna40 mod I built myself.
I also asked about this to evolv and they replied they might have tweaked the firmware to keep some "offset" resistance into account, but it didn't really make much sense to me.
More doubts started popping out when I noticed that very shallow-510 attys (like a Squape R for that matter) were getting veeery inconsistent reading.
Then a look at the 510 center pin and some help from other fellow ECF-ers (thanks @tchavei), made me realize that Rdna's 510 center pin is quite recessed and the spring behind it is all but stiff.
So much that I'm planning to try a replacement as soon as I have the opportunity to try a different 510, but that's another story...
Back on track now on the newest little puppy, the VS (non R)dna40: this is a much-much-much better 510, apart from being SS (which makes threads much more reliable): I verified the center pin is about 0.5 mm higher and the spring is stiffer.

This has been fully confirmed by:
1) all base resistance reading are perfectly in line with my vaporflask and the other self-built mod
2) my squape R is finally usable on this VS (non R)dna and the resistance is consistent every time.

TLDR: if you don't mind missing wireless charging and the smaller screen, this is IMO a much better device.
Oh, and you can't believe how much smaller it is unless you try it, think eleaf istick, and you're there!

Hope this is of some help.

My rDNA reads exactly the same as my friends Bap. Not sure what's going on with your device. You should try to switch it out. My 510 threads are also ss.

Well, I might be wrong (or VS changed it on latest rdnas) but I don't think my rdna's 510 is SS. It more realistically looks like chrome plated brass. Also (not that product descriptions have to be taken too seriously) but product description on VS page for rdna does't seem to explictly say "SS 510", as it does in the description for the (non R)dna.
If yours reads consistent base resistence values then mine might have additional connection problems though...

I do clean my pin once in a while. Perhaps that's the difference. Either way, it's the pin, and not the threads that make the contact that matters. Try giving it a cleaning with alcohol.

Yeah, I didn't mean SS threading to be involved in my resistance inconsistencies, just enforcing that the 510 connectors are quite different on the two devices (at least that's my experience).
I reckon that cleaning the center pin can play a role, but believe me I almost removed the gold plating for all the alcohol scrubbing I've done there (just kidding, but I did that a lot).
Again it might be my particular 510, but it's center pin is lower than in the non-R dna, and the spring is too soft so that it really doesn't make good contact when the atty's 510 is of the shorter kind.
My proof stays in the Squape R: works ok on the vaporflask, on my custom-built mod and on the non-R dna, but it jumps all over the place (resistance wise) when on the rdna.

I've had the rdna40 and the dna40 in my cart now for a few days.

Sure wish I had a coupon code.

I also have 2 of the dna25 temp sense boards.
Thinking of sacrificing one of my 2 cloupor mini's to install the "25",
but they have been both trouble free. Both are 0006xxx series.

Have 2 of the cigabuy HANA Mods dna30 enclosures coming also, but
wish I could find something smaller.

I really want to throw my dna 25 chip in my istick 50w. Just love that form factor and battery life :)
