Guys please watch this man do it,,,, but also read the way I said, because we are using different wick, and my method works even better then his as far as the wick and a tighter coil for this particular set up and use a big sewing needle instead of the drill bit or a much smaller drill bit then in the video, and wet the wick just a little on the end and spin it and thread it through while spinning and pushing it will go,

here = How to rebuild resistance and wick to an atomizer. - YouTube

only use the needle to wrap your coil, then remove coil, then just put the end of the wick in your mouth and wet it,, get it started in the first loop, the start twisting it and spinning as you push it through, you will see what I mean and how it starts to go through :)

vapspaz,,, my finished wick coil, is much tighter then the one you show on your pics, just saying,,,, mine looks more like what you see in a 510 Atty when I'm done
Thanks for all your help on this. I see that I can fix my broken one and its easy once you take it apart to see what your talking about. I just need to get some wire and wick now.

so those of us that have the wick/coil problem, do we just keep buying heads until we find one that works? it was stated that it might be a small batch thats wound little too tight around the wick.
im little leary about buying heads since from my point of view they are all like that.

They can't all be like that, or no-one would have a good experience, and clearly people do.

In the end, I have one good coil (at least for thinner juice), one useless one (I took it apart and will rebuild it), and one... I don't know. I lost my ViVi box. Can't find it for nothing. And what's really ticking me off is that my eGo adapter was in it, so I can't use my Provari with the Stardusts right now - that's like the end or the world... Arg. I got so desperate, I ordered another adapter last night. I'm sure I'll find the darn box when I get the new adapter...

 You have my sympathy....I keep 2 adapters around for the ProVari....just to make sure I can hook up the Stardusts....LOL. Friend tried to talk me out of one.....I gave her an emphatic NO.

I lost both of my adapters. I finally found them last night inside other cartos I was using.

If you have one that you dont like anyways try to cut one end and work it out of the coil. Oh hell. Let me try it first and I will let you know if it works.

EDIT: It works. Cut the top wick as close to the center post as you can. then pull the other end of it while holding the coil in place with a sewing needle so you dont break it. Came out pretty easy. Just make sure the coil is not moving or it might bind up and break off.

I've been having burnt tastes out of my 2.8 head for a few days now, and (since I'm at work with tools) finally had the chance to sit down and look at it. It seems the coil is touching the center post, shorting the coil. I noticed this after metering it (.4 ohms), and noticing the resistance was way too low. So I popped the silicone cap off the head, and couldn't see anything obvious, except that the coil looked like it was touching the center post. I fired it, and the leads went red hot immediately, instead of the coil. After repositioning it a few times as delicately as I could, I got the coil to fire, but the leads still glow before the coil. It meters at 2.6 ohms now. Still get a muted flavor. I'll try the 2.4 ohm head tonight, as I suspect it's probably just a bum head. My mother's ViVi worked great out of the box, and she loves it. I would talk to your team and see what can be done to minimize the chance of a shorted coil, Danno. I suspect that this is one of the glitches that is causing most of the complaints about dry hits and burnt tastes, hell I thought it was dry-hitting at first, too. But the leads are heating, causing that "burnt coil" dry-hit taste.

Off-topic, my Phoenixes are rocking. :)

Yes, that's happening to a lot of problematic ones. It would certainly explain the "premature burning" of liquid. And, when I took mine apart, I saw that the grommet against which one of the leads was resting was singed. Which would explain the strange taste some folks are getting.

I just dont get it. Everything about this thing is working well except the flavor and this is after removing one of the coil wicks. I have vapes about every ce2 type carto and stardust and on paper it should work like a champ as its getting plenty of juice or should be.

All three heads I have do the same thing. Just a real muted vape with a dry note on the backend with a slight metallic taste. It sems to be getting plenty of juice and the vapor is there. The coil is spaced right and tested even with a dry burn and I torched the wicks one more time to make sure they were clean.

Has to be the coil wire right? Think tomorrow ill rewick with my kanthal and see where its at.

Thanks so much for that info...Chris and I are going to compile this info and send along. So far what I am seeing with issues that have been reported:

* Some are seeing coils wound a bit too tight around the wicking. Some are simply removing one of the braided wicks.
* Some are having muted flavoring. It seems to alleviate somewhat when they trim the wicks down.
* This poster here has reported coils that were touching the stem and possibly causing a short and lowering the resistance to nearly nil.

Has anyone had any problems threading the coil heads? Any issues with that?

If anyone would like to endeavour, maybe you can snip relevant portions of posts and post them in one message. Something like this from the post from Bocephus:

We'll toss you a couple of Novas for the effort. Let us know in response to this if you want to do it and then keep it updated. I'll edit the post to include a heading.

If you can't upload send it to me at daniel@gotvapes.com and I'll post it to the server and edit your message so its not an attachment to ECF's servers but it just shows up in the body of your message.

When we get the replacement heads in (may have been today, I haven't spoken to Chris yet), Chris will try his best to do a check and see if he sees any pattern.

Danno, I can honestly say that, so far, haven't had any issues with my Nova. Haven't tried the 2.8 head though. My coils fire up glowing red as they're suppose to. The 1.8 I trimmed the bottom three coils, leaving the lose top coil the same length, and it is a vaping beast. The 2.4 head had some muted flavor at first, but it has gotten better. Oops, meant to say, trimmed the wicks (not coil). I have no complaints. Evidently I received a good QC Nova. As with any mass produced product, there will be some that are flawed. I expect that. Just wish some of the other posters with problems felt the same way.

Yikes! I should get mine tomorrow and now I'm really nervous! I'm a total noob and kinda not getting what you guys are saying. Guess I'll just wait and see how it works for me before I worry about it too much.. BTW,, I've ordered three times and couldn't be happier with what I've bought and the super fast shipping.. even if I don't like the Vivi I'll be back anyway:)

Yes, the majority are pretty much experiencing what you are seeing. We just want to conglomerate any issues that others may be seeing to take back to the Vision team.

Glad to hear its working good for ya : )

I was having ok luck the other day when this thread started with the 2.4 head using 50/50 coffee blend juice at 4.2v on a lavattube. I took out the loose wick laying on top, trimmed the remaining three down so they just touched the side of the tank like a stardust. The flavor was muted but noticable and seemed to be slowly improving tot he point that I felt it was breaking in and on its way to fame.. but it leveled off at just " ok". I went back to the stardust on the same juice and there was a huge difference in flavor.

2.4 head.... ( Tested at 2.9 ) Vapor production outstanding, flavor at 40 % at best after 2 full tanks.

1.8 Head ( tested at 2.2) Dry burn a few times, vaped it stock.. Vapor production was stellar, flavor muted the same as the 2.4

2.8 head ( tested at 3.2 ) Havent attempted yet.

The new Phoenix.. same thing. Great vapor, even less flavor.

Headscratcher.........

Danno, let me know if someone has already volunteered. If not, I'll do it. I got insomnia anyways. :)

Cheers.

Yeah--it would be much appreciated (so Briar has this).

Don't work yourself to death on it just bullet point stuff like i had in the post. You don't have to paraphrase...just go through, hit the quotes+ thingy and then snip around just the pertinent part and format any way you want : )
