samsun,
The v1 heads, for that matter the complete v1 VN, were problematic for a lot of folks... Muted flavors were reported by most people and a lot of QC issues with the heads caused them to give dry or hot hits. Some also reported they worked ok but only were a bit muted. In short, some of your v1 heads may work ok but they probably won't be excellent... The heads can be rebuilt with new wick and wire and several reported good success with doing that... so I'd suggest to not throw them out, set them aside for a time that you feel crafty and rebuild the heads as spares for later.
The v1 tube assembly using the v2.5 heads works pretty well compared to using the v1 heads but there is a good chance it may leak if left on it's side. I also found that on mine, the flavor was a bit muted compared to the all v2.5 VN but it wasn't a lot so it makes a it good vaporizer for the house ( due to the minor leaking ) or a good backup.
