JC,

The Mini doesn't have or need grooves on the deck, the grooves are on the side. This is better IMO; gravity helps keep the juice channel open.

In regards to the insulator, a razor blade can be used to cut away the "land"; (as in lands & grooves). The brown insulator material is surprisingly soft.

As we know too well, there's no QA in China. Here's one more example.

JC again; you can add this to your list on why Kanger should just send you the whole tank. Yet another assembly item to deal with. I'm sure that China is well aware of this issue too.

Im so frustrated that I had a legitimate issue that was not caused by user error, tried to warn others about it, and then got .... on. This is a serious issue! If my battery was not protected, it could have easily vented or exploded from that insulator melting and a short happening. Not to mention the dangerous fumes someone might inhale from a plastic insulator melting...

JC,

Have you heard back from China?

I still haven't heard back from the gentleman in China I emailed. Kanger US (the original people I attempted to contact on tuesday morning) sent me an email last night saying they would send me replacement insulators "once they can send them from china", I then informed them that the half of the insulator is melted to my RBA deck and cant be removed, my whole tank was contaminated from the the fumes of the melted RBA insulator and that no matter how much Ive let it soak or cleaned it with distilled water, and no matter what OCC coils or ejuice I've used, it still tastes and smells strongly of the burned insulator and that I would instead like a replacement tank to be sent to me and I would send my old one back to them. Havent heard back since then.

JC,
So Kanger USA is waiting on the 4th revision of the insulator from Kanger China. Buyers are going to be so confused and frustrated that they'll likely shy away from the Subtank altogether. Such a shame because it's such a good tank. On the bright side, most users have been able to understand and implement the fixes.
JC, your situation is worse but your tank will clean up, nothing would get into the steel and/or glass. A razor blade will scrape the plastic off of the steel. It comes down to who should do the work and you are absolutely right that they should do it. Either way though you'll be up and running in the end. I try to be a "glass half-full" type person but it's hard sometimes.
Your tank serves as an example of what can ultimately happen when an insulator totally breaks down; and its Bad, no doubt. For this reason, they should fix it.

My two cents.

I hope they do, I have still yet to hear back about a replacement. They have only offered the insulators, and it was the generic message they've been sending everyone who emails. I would settle for just continue trying to clean the rest of the tank and hope for the best and have them send a new RBA deck, because I literally cant get the remains of the old insulator out as its melted into the base of the deck and into the airhole for the RBA.

Also the FOURTH revision? So there is now a revision after these brown insulators? Man, when will it end? What does this new revision look like / what does the upgrade address?

Apparently there was something wrong with the tolerances and/or material. So the suggestion was that if you can Install it and it's brown in color, it's OK but keep an eye on it just in case. I guess the correspondence was in Chinese and had to be translated. If yours is coming from China this week it's probably the revised one.
I think somebody could get rich making and selling an aftermarket ceramic insulator for the Subtanks. I'd pay 10 bucks to not have to worry about it anymore.

After this whole incident I have definitely been thinking about getting the Delta II, or the Goblin RTA. I am kind of put off by the Delta II selling the RBA portion separately, though. It also looks more difficult to clean the Delta II. Have you had any issues cleaning yours?

In regards to the Goblin RTA, I really am interested, but I hear there were issues with the original version (1.1) not having long enough post screws. I hear they have fixed that in the latest version (1.2) as well as added more juice capacity, but I cant seem to find either 1.1 or 1.2 in stock anywhere!

Im not sure what is coming at this point, and even if they did come, I wouldn't be able to replace the original insulator since half of it is melted ONTO my build deck and into the RBA air hole. I cant get it out :( I need a new RBA entirely.

I think you just gave yourself a new business idea to make insulators though, considering your experience in the field ;)

Keep emailing Cheung, I've got a feeling he will come through for you.

Sky is falling! {MODERATED}

So what kind of "juice" did you have in your tank, eh? {MODERATED}

How is it kanger or kayfun's fault that you destroyed it under those conditions? Just sayin'
Wow! How rude...I hope you apologized! The white insulators do melt, and some are saying the clear replacement melts, too. Kanger has released a 3rd insulator, and it's light brown.

Thanks Under!

I couldn't watch the whole vid but based on the comment section he's got a lot of people thinking the KST is a bad tank.
I hate to see it get so much negative press when in fact the juice may have been the problem.
Wrong! Kanger is replacing all the original Subtank insulators, the white ones. The 2nd release was clear, and now the 3rd replacement is light brown. People have to call or email Kangertech about this, and they send an insulator out.

I can't believe how rudely you address a fellow vaper who has a problem! I just ordered a Mini Subtank from Sweet-Vapes, and they state on their site that these tanks have the NEW insulators. I just hope they're the brown ones instead of the clears.

I assure you if it is a clear insulator, I'll be emailing Kangertech for the brown one. There's a reason they're replacing the clear ones, too...people have reported some have melted.

Who wants to take a chance of this stuff getting into their lungs?

ErnineKim, STILL no word from anybody at Kanger and I dont want to harass Cheung with emails, I sent a few and am leaving it at that. Kanger most certainly knows of my problem and is refusing to address it. My faith in them is ruined. Right now Im looking at other RTA options as we speak, so I wont continue to derail this thread unless a significant update occurs. Thanks for all of your help everyone :)
