So last year when everyone was stock piling in the Nic, so was I. Probably not as much as most of you all, but over 500ml of it. I read and read up about freezing it, and did what everyone said to do. I bought up the Amber Bottles and all that good stuff. I'm down to my last two smaller bottles that was labeled Oct 21st. I don't buy the 100mg Nic. I try to do mine the easiest way. We vape 24 mg Nic, and we like a 50/50 blend...so I just buy 48mg Nic. Anyhow, I pulled out one of the last two bottles a couple weeks ago to make up a few batches of juice. After it thawed out, I was surprised. It had changed colors. It not has an almost light rust look to it. That part didn't really bother me...but what did bother me, was it has a slight fishy type smell to it..again, I'm cool with that...well, not really, but didn't stop me from making juice. LOL. I made the same tobacco juices that I have been making for over a year..so it's not like I was trying a new recipe. Made them just like I have every time. And guess what??? There's a HUGE difference in TH. That's why we vape such high Nic mg...for the throat hit. If it doesn't have it, we can't vape it!! I read before where the more the Nic is exposed to air, it can start changing color. But these have not been opened since I put them in the freezer. And then the smell...the smell didn't transfer over to the juice, thank goodness...but it's just lacking that kick to our throats.

is this normal? What should have I done different? Is not even a year too long to store Nic?

I had the exact same problem before. I couldn't stand the taste and it had the strangest texture. I wound up dumping the entire liter, and ordered from another vendor.

What was your base? I have some 100mg in PG that I need to get in the freezer.

Also, doesn't a bit of distilled water (like 15%) add to throat hit? Never tried that but will someday.

Hmm I have a stash in the freezer and just ordered some extra VT nic which is a premium nic and now I think I'm going to use it up instead of freezing, maybe freeze the cheaper nic that I already have opened.
All glass.
Never thawed any out yet.

btw Distilled Water I have never heard of it increasing TH... I use it because it adds moisture to soothe the throat and sinuses a bit. Maybe its alcohol that give the TH?

Strange I've had NIC 18 months old that was as fresh as the day I bought it. Maybe that one bottle was bad from day one. I would open the other bottle and see if that one is bad. Who was the vender that the NIC came from? I had NIC from one vander that I opened fresh the same day I got it that had the same odor you describe and it was discolored right from the start. Did it have a yellow label and packaged in a thin soft clear (Not brown) plastic bottle with a black cap that was taped shut with black electrical tape?

I have bought a few liters of this product, and not had an issue yet. The one pictured was received a day or two after the stamped batch date. I have received a batch that had already turned a very light pink color, but that's the worst I have ran in to. If I had a bottle smell like fish, I would have been on the phone with the quickness.

That's just it though, this Nic was fine when I ordered it. Had NO smell, the color was clear. I bought it almost a year ago, so no sense in me calling the supplier. It came in glass amber big bottle...so I then transferred it, the day I got it, to smaller Amber glass bottles. It went right in the freezer and was never opened until I opened it the other day to start using it. Oh well

Somewhere
The cone in the cap was possibly moved by condensation freeze build up
This may have allowed it to seep into the bottle.

I do the following....
Shake the hell out of my liter 100MG VG NIC (not an easy task)
Seperate into Amber bottles with Cone Caps.
And always seal my bottles in Vacuum bags.

I have some from Wizard Labs and some from MFS that are both over a year old.
They are both still good.

There was a problem with Alchem-sourced nic about a year ago; some people reported getting sweat sock or fishy smell/taste from it. They were using some new extraction process. I believe MFS sourced their nic for a while then dumped it because of complaints about batch inconsistency.

I bought MFS during the summer sale and specifically asked if it was the Alchem lot in email and was told no.

Why are you guys stock piling Nic? Just curious...

Well, in my case I am supplying a few different people with free juice, and then one of them mingles with smokers and vapers and is allowed to help other people out (fixed income, etc). I am also experimenting with flavorings and methods which generates waste... and I ride the 'on-sale' train which means i often pay about 30% of online retail for my base, but I have to decide if I want to buy some at those times or wait. I don't see myself ever trying to sell any juice, but I see myself helping others get started. "Give a person a fish... teach a person to fish"...

I have actually been keeping and mixing a lot of the waste together... I haven't tried to vape any yet, but it doesn't smell that bad considering the everything and anything variety of flavors that are in it.

You folks are putting your unflavored concentrated Nic liquid in the freezer ... is this really necessary?

I just bought (2ea) 500 ml bottles of 60mg PG Nic from RTS Vapes. This PG Nic is in those white plastic bottles you can't see through.

All I did is put them in a closed (dark) cabinet in the den.

It's going to take me a long time to go through 1000 ml of this unflavored 60mg PG since I mix my juice at 18mg.

Am I making a big mistake by not putting it in the freezer?

I am thinking this stuff will last a very long time if unopened and stored in a closed cabinet in the house ... am I wrong?
