Yes an idiot on the bench....Thankfully the state had some official with the power to change that.
Should Coffee Come With Cancer Warnings? California Says No
In every cup of coffee, there is a chemical linked to cancer.

That undisputed fact led a Los Angeles judge to rule this spring that coffee companies must provide cancer warnings to coffee drinkers. The ruling cast a shadow on a daily and often essential rite for more than 100 million Americans.

But now, the State of California has intervened, telling coffee drinkers not to worry. An agency has proposed a rule declaring that not only does coffee pose no significant risk of cancer, it may actually have health benefits.

Not impossible. That’s the problem with prediction. Hit it too far and silly hats start to show up.

Damn, know you're right. I once stuck my foot in it and predicted Apple would be the preeminent computer co in the world. Boy did I hit the short ball on that one. Guess I'd better put the thinking cap away.

Good luck. :D

Huh. They actually identify the illness as lipoid pneumonia. Lipoid, or "fat" (lipids) pneumonia, can't happen with nic vape juices because there are no oils or fat or lipids in it, just PG and VG (well, there shouldn't be any oil adulterant). That type of oil extraction as the liquid vaporized is seen in the illegal or synthetic stuff.

The places you used to see that problem would be in the elderly who used mineral oil as a laxative. It's pretty viscous, and would stick to the walls of your throat. Someone generally bed bound and lying down when they take it will aspirate some into their lungs, where it can't be cleared out. It clogs up the small airways over time causing inflammation and loss of lung function. Any oil that gets into the lungs can cause it, and aspiration is the most common cause. Well, until folks started making cartridges of illegal drugs and selling them on the street or probably even online. I'm sure some online dealers in that stuff must exist, they exist for everything else.

Maybe ENDS is the best way to differentiate it and bag the vaping title. ENDS is clear, it's a nicotine delivery system, not a free for all of what can we get you to buy you can breathe in and get high.

I was thinking about me more than you right then. There are a bunch of players, and we don’t know what any of them are actually thinking.

No worries. I wasn't thinking even. More reacting today to the ludicrous situation we're all in. But it does beg the question. Irony is, we all tend to step in shiit when we don't watch where we're goin. I'm no stranger. It would seem a lot of us called it wrong this time. No regrets tho, making this choice to vape was the right thing to do. And no amount of see that is going to dissuade me on that score. At least I got this one right.

Good luck. :)

I just had a random thought about a possible adjustment if not exactly a remedy.
It may be a bad idea.
The issue is more than one type of active ingredient is being used. What if they were color coded?
Assign a use color to devices. If you want to vape nicotine your mod has to be one color (hoping for silver myself, but it would be what it would be)
If you want to vape one type of that three letter stuff which is legal everywhere, your device has to be another color (green maybe?). If you want to vape that OTHER three letter stuff that is only legal some places but gets smuggled everywhere else it has to be a different color (red maybe? Something easily visible)

Pro: would possibly help differentiate types of use.

Cons: would require FDA action, would make a lot of current devices unusable, would be easy to counterfeit.

Updated on August 21. So the article is even older than that.

Practically all of these articles fall woefully short, even when acknowledging the probable facts. This one implying that VG, PG, nic are routinely present at toxic levels in vapor. Even some basic research into CDC and EPA findings would disprove this. The more reasonable these scrap stories appear, the more certain they are to hold sway with the public.

Our best hope I feel is a resurgence of individual vape evangelism. That we all take a part in demonstrating to all and everyone around us how happy we are vaping…and how miserable the constant bombardment of BS makes us. We have to be every bit as intrusive as the propaganda. I know that's not going to be everyone's cup of tea but it's what we got.

Good luck. :)

The impression I’m getting is it’s not the officials it’s the reading impaired journalists. Or not the journalists but the article headline writers who may not be the same people.
