These are my latest tobacco extractions
Dunhill 965 4/5
Dunhill Royal Yacht 4/5
American Spirit Natural 5/5
Peter Stokkebye Navy Flake 5/5
Dunhill Early Morning Pipe 4/5
Newminster Luxus 3/5
Peter Stokkebye Black Vanilla Cavendish 2/5
La Joya de Nicaragua Antonio Cigar 4/5
El Rico Habano 690 Cigar 4/5
Newminster Peaches and Cream 2/5
I have used the same method for over a year: 4oz mason jar with about 2 pipebowls full of tobacco...50mls of a 50/50 vodka/PG mixture. I place the mason jar on a regular coffee warmer for two hours giving it two vigorous shakes in between. After the process is complete I strain the mixture through a coffee filter into a 30 ml bottle. I have been yielding an average of 30mls. of liquid per operation.
I then make a 5ml sample with 6 drops of flavor. I drip it into my LR atomizer and give it a try before setting stuff out to steep. I mostly steep for 48 hrs. using the same coffee warmer intermittently.
I've come up with some awesome(and not so awesome)vapes.
I have to say though, that the American Spirit Natural, which is a roll your own tobacco hasn't had time to enjoy the steeping process yet and I'm on my second bottle;it's that good!!!
I also like mixing my extracts with commercial tobacco flavors. I find that a little Desert Ship from Inawera added to my Navy flake covers gaps between layers..etc
Well, that's my 2 cents worth.

Hey fellow extractors! Just now starting to resurface from all of the holiday madness. Since the first of December been working a few jars here and there. Finished out Orlik Golden Mixture, Natural Spirit Organic (Gold Label). Man I love these Virginia Blends! Been on these two and the Orlik Golden Sliced for about 3 or 4 weeks now nonstop, just can't put them down, day or night. Have a couple jars about two weeks in a cold soak. McClelland Tinned Blenders Oriental and Cornell and Diehl Burley Flake No.1. Did a heat assist, left them in the dehydrator at 150f 44hr. hope I didn't cook them too bad, normally do about 36 hrs max. I didn't open them to smell because the tops of the jars popped down like they were semi sealed so I went straight into the drawer with 'em just gonna let them sit for awhile. I think they'll be OK. Ordered Dunhill The Royal Yacht Mixture, McClelland Dark Star, Solani Aged Burley Flake No. 656. Waiting on the Solani Aged Burley Flake No. 656 to get here and will start all three of these together in the next couple of days.

from p&c website.........

Cornell & Diehl Burley Flake No. 1: Burley Flake #1- A blend of dark Burley and red Virginia with just a splash of Perique

McClelland Blending Oriental: Oriental tobaccos are small-leaf varieties that primarily grown in Greece and Turkey through to Bulgaria. These flavorful tobaccos are cured in the sun and have spicy, herbal qualities and add a bit of sweetness. This mixture contains some of the most prized tobaccos in the category.

Dunhill The Royal Yacht: Dunhill Royal Yacht is a singular blend of bright Virginias for sweetness and darker Virginias for more body and richness. The tobaccos are matured, then combined and finally finished with a unique mixture of flavors to create a blend unlike any other.

McClelland Dark Star: Dark Star is, hands-down, one of the sweetest and most complex Virginia flakes available. It all begins with lemon-yellow Virginias and Carolinas, specially selected for their high sugar content. The tobacco undergoes a triple aging process after which it's pressed to help develop the flavors. Finally, it's heated gently until it's black, and then sliced. There are high sweet notes, a caramel-like mid-range and an almost molasses tasting bass all going on at the same time.

Solani Aged Burley Flake No. 656: Solani Aged Burley Flake #656 is a pressed combination of a variety of different types of Burley from around the globe. It has a rich, round flavor with cocoa and molasses notes; somewhat reminiscent of the late, lamented Edgeworth Sliced.

Right now enjoying the last few mils of a bottle of C&D Habana Daydream 420 about three months old in a Magma. Man this stuff has aged nicely. Really good smok. Gonna mix up another bottle and let it sit a bit. Haven't used either in a while. After tonight, I think that will change. Good evening all!

I added the following to my 80+ stash this month.

Sutliff Cinnamon Delight
Sutliff Molto Dolce
H&H Vermont Meat Candy
C&D Old Joe Krantz
Tatiana Classic Night Cap
Tatiana Classic Waking Dream

Those first three sound really good ( not familiar w/ Tatiana blends), I almost got the Meat Candy, very interested to hear how that one turns out.

Three more weeks. Tatiana's are very flavorful without losing the cigar taste. I only get about 80mls of extract from one but where I enjoy almost all of the different flavors, my Tatiana rotation lasts quite awhile.

Old Joe Krantz just became one of my top five. At least the way Bill extracts it. I'll have to wait and see if my own is up to snuff.

Tatiana Honey is a great vape. Identical to Poet & Scholar. One cigar in 80 mls of PG makes a lot of juice.

Hey, fellow extractors. Recently extracted McClellands Blending Oriental 1.76oz tin. Did a Heat assisted (48 hr @150 deg. 100% pg then 6 week cold soak. Separated and primary coffee filtered then to a 2.5 micron filter. Yield approx 4.5 oz. Boy this has really turned out to be a great extract for blending. Been blending it about 50/50 with Orlik Golden Sliced and Orlik Golden Mixture. For me, it has been perfect. Been on it for the last couple of weeks. Don't want nuthin else, for now anyway. Blending, aging, testing then blending, aging and testing another percentage or variety is a long process, of which I am really just getting started at, looks to require good record keeping, which I'm not to good at. I guess I need to try a little harder at that. Have some other heavy Burly and Virginia Blends aging right now and starting a few other single/blending varietals..... all from p&c: Blending - Blended Turkish Ribbon, Blending - Cigar Leaf, Blending - Dark Fired Kentucky Burley, Blending - Izmir Ribbon Cut, and I'm brewing a tin of H&H Carmel Apple Pie for my son.

On the subject of filtering, received these today around noon, believe it or not, from USPS. Didn't know they ran on Sunday but my email tracker said it was due for delivery today, and sure enough it showed up. Didn't pay for any special shipping or anything. Anyway, found these on Amazon few days ago and decided to give them a try.

Thomas 6100-1850 Qualitative Filter Paper, 1.5 Micron, Grade, 18.5cm Diameter x 0.15mm Thick (Pack of 100)

Product Description from Amazon:
“Designed for very fine precipitates. Slow filtering speed; 1 micrometer particle retention. High retentivity, which retains very fine crystalline precipitates such as cuprous oxide, lead sulfate, barium sulfate and manganese carbonate. Thickness approximately 0.20mm, 1.5 micrometer pore size.”

Decided to try these on the McClelland Oriental mentioned above. I figure another level of filtration couldn't be a bad thing. Started gravity filtering around 1:00 this afternoon and after about 7 hours its dripped about 2 oz. These are just estimates, hence the need for better record keeping. Folded a 16 fold, 8 flute filter and seems to be flowing good. This size of filter (18.5cm) makes it just the right size after folding to fit my Kuissential Ceramic Coffee Dripper, Filter Cone, Size 02 and still be able to cover it without coming in contact with the top of the filter. But it limits the amount of extract to about 2oz. liquid in one pouring versus about 4oz. I can get from 2.5 micron filters @ 15cm, not folding and just using small pleats to make it fit the funnel. There doesn't seem to be any color change so far, but it's a fairly dark liquid any way. Guess I'll just have to wait till I can do some light/clarity, taste testing. Str8vision has already reported doing some 1 micron filtering under vacuum I believe. Anyway just throwing this out there for info purposes. Later, all!

Sunday delivery? I wonder what's up with that? Interesting. With all the delivery problems they've had recently perhaps this would be a good idea nationwide...:)

I currently have 5 tobacco extractions going, three are old favorites but two are new to me. Cornell & Diehl "Oriental Silk No. 414" a Perique, Turkish, Virginia blend and Gawith, Hoggarth & Co. "Louisiana Perique Flake" a Virginia, Perique (VaPer), blend which is the last commercial VaPer blend left for me to try.

Yeah, she showed up complete with mail truck and in uniform. Brought it to the front door! My order was actually with free shipping from Amazon. Oh well!
Been really pleased with the two Cornell & Diehl extracts that I've done, Briar Fox and Habana Daydream No.420. They've been two of my favorites. Have a C&D Burley Flake No.1 aging right now. Haven't sampled it yet, but I don't think I'll be disappointed with it from the way it smells and taste on the tip of the tongue. Potent stuff.

The 1.5 micron filtering ended up being a 30 hr drip. I'm able to keep it well covered and closed off, so no issue there. Just set it and forget it. But it finally finished out. Not sure folding the filter actually sped things up any, I'll try a quarter fold next time so I can maybe get it all in, in one pour. and see if that takes longer than the pleated fold did. After bottling it up, held the beaker to the light and the residual extract left was noticeably more brilliant. Very clean. Guess I'll mix up some in a few days and let the waiting begin. Later all.

I received Sutliff Sunset Rum today but think I got the wrong one  oh well lets try it and see. Dunhill's Elizabethan Mixture and Missouri Meerschaum Country Gentleman is on order. I have around 7 long term macerations going as an experiment, one was started August last year, the others at the beginning of this year. 2 of them are leaves from plants that my sister gave me, Lemon Myrtle and Kafir Lime.

Are any of your long term macerations (started last August), tobaccos? I'd be very interested in hearing your evaluation of these once completed. Also, keep us posted on the Lemon myrtle and Kafir lime.

I have high hopes for the Rustica. Recommended by none other than Vapenstein himself.

I just checked the "August" one because its about time to filter I think. It is actually dated September 10th so that makes it 6 months old. It is nothing particularly interesting, Peter Stokkebye Turkish which I think is also a RYO tobacco, or can be used as RYO. I do like simple flavours too though just like I like simple but nice good home cooking. I was not overly impressed with it last year so used some for a long-term experiment. The solvent is 10% PGA/90% PG, so it should be well and truly done by now ;)

Its also about a year since I started extracting, I am very happy with how well the extracts age, most if not all taste similar or better than a year ago.
