The" problem" with many new vapers is they just want to dive in and quit smoking and want to be as easy and painless as possible. They want it to be somewhat familiar which is why there are cigarette type PV's, and also the reason they are soooooo popular.
I didnt do any research before I bought my first PV on a whim at the mall. I was VERY happy with it, until I got sick and tired of fiddling with fillers and filler mods and having to top off the cart every 10 mins or so. The 510 works, tastes just fine to me and it worked to get me off cigs. If i didnt happen to find that dealing with the fillers and topping off such a PITA, I'd still be happily vaping it. What I ended up with is basically a larger cigar looking 510 with a large tank which uses no fillers and in my opinion it doesnt get much simpler than that. And I have no need for a 5v or VV mod, or a box. There are those who dont mind at all fiddling with fillers and filler mods and all that stuff which is why even still, people are using the PTB mods! And for those people a simple 510 starter kit works great for them and they dont look for higher voltage this or that.
yes, to satisfy the box fans, the box is simple!! but the box is still a box that MANY would not buy as a first PV nor is it something I personally would buy as my 3rd, 4th or 5th PV, they are ugly to me and I just dont want one, and I'm not the only one. There is no one size fits all, and I am not saying there even should be. This thread has gone off topic so many times I cant even keep track, but what I have noticed is how all of the people who posted basically agreeing with my original point have pretty much gone unacknowledged, and THESE are the people I am speaking for. Especially the ones who have stated they would never consider a mod as their first PV and would have runn for the hills.
I was not knocking at all that people want to help a newbie and offer opinions and advice. What I am knocking is that when newbies post specific questions or needs and they are advised to buy an expensive mod when they dont even know if vaping will work for them. I think it's pretty safe to say that the majority of those that start with a 510/808/whatever recognize the potential and most move up to something where the battery lasts longer at the very least, and many move up even further to the mods and such, but not everyone, and not everyone wants to, they like their little cigarette units and are very happy with them. Some newbies have stated that they want cheap, small, cigarette looking devices and are looking for a reliable vendor, only to get referred to a provari or monkeyboxx.
PKJ nailed it with answering the questions they are asking and not going off on some ohms*voltage=wattage or whatever it is tangent. I'm a mechanical designer, not an electrical engineer. Many people arent electrical engineers, nor do they want to sit and do math (majority of people hate math), they are asking for a starting place, not the whole entire lowdown with no starting point of reference.
So the "problem" is not really with new vapers not doing research first, they come here to do research and get some help and are overwhelmed by information provided that was not understood or requested.
The problem with many new vapers is that they want to dive in headfirst without doing any research.
E-cigs are a new and evolving technology.
Just like computers and any other tech, it is easy to spend to much and get too little.
Those who do a little research first, can find what they are looking for after some reading.
