I'm feeling like it's groundhog day.

I don't recall if I mentioned that my cousin's 50 year old son had been diagnosed for a brain tumor as Justin was nearing the end of his battle. He had been doing real well until April when he started having issues. I just found out that in may, exactly 1 year from the first diagnosis, he found out that the tumor on the left side of his brain had started growing again. In addition and the reason he started having the symptoms in April, another formed on the right side that is in an inoperable position.

They're going to treat that one with cyber knife. I just feel like it is too much like Justin's situation. Everything looks good for months and then not. I have a hard time even talking to my cousin and his wife about it. Trying to avoid any comparison and I really don't want them asking any questions. I feel so bad for them as he is their only child.Enough venting.

Hello experts. So, I may be entering (hopefully) a situation where I will need to not vape for long periods. I have a bit of time, but mainly, like, I have some questions. Apologies if they've already been asked.

1) I sort of know about nic salt pouches and have used some and know where to get them.

However, I am kind of wondering about Swedish Snus. I have NEVER used snus, the only notions I vaguely have about Snus is that it's some grotesque process (I'm thinking of adverts I've seen from like the 1900s where you are supposed to snort it up into your sinuses or something.

2) Is that right? Can it possibly be right? Surely that's not right?
3) What are the differences between American and Swedish snus and where can I get the latter?
4) Am I going to have to carry around something to spit in, and like, how strong is it? Is this something I can use ever few hours and sort of dispose of it someplace easily? Can I talk? Is it noticeable? Basically is this a concealed sort of carry thing that's reasonably not uh, noticeable?
5) If not, the nic salt pouches I have heard vague notions that WTA can be added? How long should I reasonably be able to go between pouches (okay, I know this is sort of subjective, etc.)
6) Help? I mean, I can use nic lozenges or whatever, but I have a feeling they will not be super satisfying in a somewhat (at least at first) stressful type of situation. But it has to be at least reasonably stealthy and I figure the nic pouches would be more or less, but I'd also like to try snus (Swedish, thanks to wanting NO inflammation in my mouth, period. Etc.)

    Somewhere between here and there
Anna, first of all, snuff is for the nose and snus is usually a small pouch of tobacco placed between the lip and gum.

My opinion of the difference between American and Swedish snus is that a lot of the American is sweet like candy. However if it’s all you can get then you could try it. On the General website there is a store locator. Many convenience stores around my area sell it and it’s stored in a small refrigerator. You don’t spit with snus. I place my snus portions on the top all the way in the back by my molars. It’s pretty much unnoticeable and I can talk normally. A portion can last anywhere from 30 minutes to a couple hours depending on the flavor. I just toss it when I get tired of it. There are many different strengths from 4mg to above 20mg. A regular portion is considered to be 8mg. It might take a little getting used to at first and some people will take it out for a while and put it back in later when first starting out. Right now General is the only Swedish snus sold in the USA but I read that they bought V2 tobacco company and thunder is supposed to become available also. Other than that we have to order from Sweden online and the shipping is ridiculous ever since the PACT act was passed. I tried the salt pouches and didn’t really care for them but to each his/her own. As far as how long you can go between snus portions, it’s hard to answer. It’s going to depend on how you handle the nic and how strong of portions you use. I use two 16mg portions and 4-5 8mg portions a day along with vaping. Hopefully I’ve answered your questions but let me know if I left anything out.

That is awesome, thank you. You did answer all my questions and I guess I was confusing the two. I vape 18 mg/ml but once "vaped up" I can go like an hour or more.

I will look around and order some. I don't care about the taste as much so it looks like it will be General Swedish snus, because frankly with my dentures and implants and whatnot, I really care less about the flavor and more about health. Etc.

I think I will obtain some early and like, experiment. Bonus will be is I get dry mouth with nothing in my mouth, so having something in my mouth will probably be a good thing.

Thank you, LOL, very helpful @hittman!

Now I know exactly what to do :)

Hi Anna ?? (Hitt seems to know you from the other side of the tracks)

He pretty well covered it. I just wanted to add, having spent a lot of time over the last few years in environments that are strictly no tobacco (hospitals and elder care facilities), once you get used to it, you'll forget it's even there. I keep mine in the sides at the front and in 8 1/2 years, I can remember twice that it kind of slipped out from above my lip and was exposed a bit and only once that anyone noticed it.

For me, it was the best solution to over 4 decades of smoking. It may, probably will, seem salty but after a while, you get used to it. That probably explains Hitt's comment on taking out and putting back in.

Hope you do well with it. Solves that issue of not being able to vape. I actually only vape a ml or so every two to three days now and a can of 24 snus lasts me around 4-5 days. If you find you like it, keep an eye out in here. Sales are announced whenever people find them and stock up from Sweden as you can get pretty decent deals in spite of PACT. White portions (processed dry) hold up real well stored in the freezer and I've noticed little change in taste with years stored there.

    Anna,
If you can find mini portions they are smaller (4 mg) and easier to conceal. Most people use them in the upper lip, which adds to the not needing to spit. The farther back you put them, the less visible they will be but you may notice you make more saliva. Halfway is about where I put them. I have never had anyone say anything to me about it so I assume no one ever noticed. While females in Sweden are quite comfortable using snus in public, it's different here. They have several types of mini snus that are marketed specifically toward women there with more feminine cans and flavor profiles. Some of those can be ordered from sites like snuscentral. It's kind of neat to see how freely they use it. The mg in snus do not equate to mg in vape. The naturally occurring WTA will be more satisfying than a low mg vape and if you need more you can always put one on each side.

@stols001 Welcome! Just to add a little to what was already discussed. Several things can cause some discomfort when you start using snus. The salt, flavor, and shape are all foreign to your gums so they can and probably will get a little irritated. This passes pretty quickly but taking the portion out for a while helps. I've found that straight tobacco flavored snuses are less irritating than the flavored ones. When I first started using snus I would alternate sides until my gums got use to it, but I put my portions right in front on one side or the other of that little flap. I've never had anyone notice it and I use regular size. The minis are a good starting point but hard to find locally. But you should be able to find General around you. If fact, if Tuscon is your location it looks like the Circle Ks carry it. Probably they will carry original, mint, wintergreen, and maybe mini mint. Good luck!

LOL, yeah, now that you mention it, I do remember that link. I stumbled on it thru Northern this morning and thought of Anna. I'd check and see if she might be interested in trying them. I'm pretty content with the General Mint myself. I'll occasionally throw something else into the mix, but the Mint works for my purposes.

I've been a little preoccupied with a Carolina Wren as well as some other bird that nested in my garage this Spring, unfortunately. My remote for my garage door opener died and I haven't replaced it (just ordered two because of the birds). At this point I have a shiitey mess as you can imagine.

Anyway, the wren nested right near the door and had been sitting on three eggs for weeks and nothing was happening. I thought there might be a problem and posted questions three days ago. Two days ago I saw little heads in there but no mama around and yesterday the same and they looked dead. With the heat yesterday, I was really worried but, I got closer to the nest this morning (they build a dome with a side opening) and could see breathing. However, still no sign of mom and dad hasn't been seen for weeks.

Anyway, I put a fan out there aimed toward the nest and set up my SJ4000 action camera but in 20 minutes there was no sign of mom. I'm charging the camera now and going to put it out again when fully charged so /I can WIFI to my phone. Hoping to see mom show up feeding them. I haven't been able to move the bikes around all Spring because of them and want to sell the small scooter to make room in the garage. Unfortunately, it's the one right in front of the nest and it's going to take a real washing before I think of putting it up for sale.

Was killing zombies on the Oculus this AM. lol

Okay so I got some General Swedish Snus, and it's mint flavored, but NOWHERE does it say what strength it is. It's covered with warnings (seemingly everywhere) but NOWHERE does it say what strength it is. I can't quite figure out how to like, open the canister but I figure I will at some point. I was just lucky to like, Find It. It took me awhile. The container's grey, it has a green "mint" stripe over a black background and it says 24 portions.

Should I just assume it's 8 mg? I mean, I assume it's "standard" and etc., contrary to evidence otherwise.

I did not want to buy Camel Snus but to be fair that is based off my assessment of Camel cigarettes which like, are among my least favorite brands. They taste like death (the cigarettes I mean) and Joe Camel always seemed an oddly sinister character to me, have you ever MET a camel? Because I have. THEY SUCK.

The kid told me I could find snus "anywhere" because "the homeless like it." He's such a little douche sometimes.

LOL, I long to be enlightened.

    Anna
