Yeah, it was a limb, over 20 inches where it broke off the tree. As I got a better look today in trying to cut it up, I remember looking at it a while back and saying to myself that if it ever came down it would hit the wires.
I was having a heck of a time cutting it up. The chain was dull and near the end of life but I didn't feel like changing it. I have a Woodchuck, a tool for rotating logs and lifting them off the ground so I don't damage the blade by hitting the ground. The one log had a knot that was stopping me from turning it up plus the weight of the log itself. I even pulled my back a bit trying.
Anyway, I made three cuts in the one log and decided I needed to do the log behind it first so I could roll the other log the other way, away from the knot. I made 4 cuts into that one and rolled it to make the final cuts and realized the chainsaw wasn't cutting straight, it was bending the cut to the left. I managed to cut the four rounds but not very pretty and then was able to roll the first log and finish those cuts with the same problem, bent cuts.
I'm guessing the chain is pretty well shot but instead of changing it, I tried to finish that log. It only got worse and it was getting hotter. I gave up and went back and put a newer chain on it. Maybe after dinner I'll go out and finish those two logs. It will be much easier now anyway or I'll just wait a couple days and work on them. The rest of the limb and the top half of the tree that got broken on the fall is on the side of my driveway and a lot lighter to deal with.
