Happy belated Rebel, hope you had a big day! Yeah, I hear you on the birthday thing, wait for another 20 years, they'll mean even less. My last big bash was my 40th with a home delivery stripper. After that it's all so meaningless. lol
Yeah, I think when we get the LR and DR done we'll take a bit of a break. I've got two layers of Butternut tongue and groove to complete tomorrow over the fireplace and two walls to put the finished coat of paint and my LR/BR combination will be complete.
I turned on my audiophile system for the first time in a couple years on Friday and I was shocked. The volume control was so fouled up that I was afraid the noises getting to the speakers would blow them out. I quickly got on Amazon and ordered a bottle of D5 that arrived Saturday. After a run to HF this AM to get Allen wrenches that would let me get the volume knob off, I sprayed into the front and then took the cover off to spray the works of the potentiometer only to find it was enclosed in a plastic enclosure held together with two tiny screws, one deep in the box. I was able to use a jeweler's screw driver to get them out, thank god I have good glasses and some nimbleness in my fingers. Sprayed it real good, put it all back together and it's now as smooth as butter and as quiet as a church mouse.
Unfortunately both of us are feeling the pain and at each other so we need a bit of a break. She's off to VA for ten days which is a vacation for me.
Hitt, my surround Bose speakers are probably pretty close to the same age, maybe a few years older. I was powering them with an Onkyo AV amp which is why everything got so complicated. I started questioning why I had so many wires coming up from the floor but then realized how I had really complicate the system. I should have gotten the TV table I have now and put the receiver inder the TV and left the two systems separated. They now will function much easier. It got so complicated that I couldn't figure things out anymore. I had a switch box to turn off indoor speakers and turn on outside speakers so I didn't have an impedance issue that would burn out equipment, the works. Time for simplification and to actually be able to use the system. It was so out of control, when I bought my first flat screen I bought a cheap soundbar and the good stuff sat idly one the other wall. At least I'm getting my shades of tan. lol
And your story about your leak brings me to my last subject. Thursday night I was cleaning brushes and rollers in the kitchen sink (I sure miss having a laundry room with a tub to do that stuff, fortunately it's stainless). I let the dirty water out and the draining sound was just not right. The tail piece and the trap separated dumping the water under the sink and onto the kitchen floor. It wasn't the first time.
This time I was determined to fix it. It has a 6" medal tail piece that's been there since I moved in. I finally decided to replace it and put a longer PVC in and cut it longer. Unfortunately when I tried to turn it off, it wouldn't budge but the entire housing turned which I knew would leak.
I got it all back together and decided that could wait. It was only a slight drip so far. I'll decide if I want to retro fit it all just
buy new and finally resolve all the issues. I really want to have the entire kitchen ripped out but that's still on hold.
