I was taking a shower in our master bathroom earlier today and my wife said there was water dripping from the garage ceiling onto my car. The shower drain has leaked before but not this bad. I am cutting out a good size hole in the ceiling now and am going to run the shower before repairing the Sheetrock. I think the putty I used on the drain the last time must have been bad. I used silicone this time. The guy at the hardware store recommended I do that instead of putty again. I grabbed a roll of insulation also to replace the wet piece. On the bright side of things, it did get me out of going shopping with my wife, her mother, and brother.

Happy belated Rebel, hope you had a big day! Yeah, I hear you on the birthday thing, wait for another 20 years, they'll mean even less. My last big bash was my 40th with a home delivery stripper. After that it's all so meaningless. lol

Yeah, I think when we get the LR and DR done we'll take a bit of a break. I've got two layers of Butternut tongue and groove to complete tomorrow over the fireplace and two walls to put the finished coat of paint and my LR/BR combination will be complete.

I turned on my audiophile system for the first time in a couple years on Friday and I was shocked. The volume control was so fouled up that I was afraid the noises getting to the speakers would blow them out. I quickly got on Amazon and ordered a bottle of D5 that arrived Saturday. After a run to HF this AM to get Allen wrenches that would let me get the volume knob off, I sprayed into the front and then took the cover off to spray the works of the potentiometer only to find it was enclosed in a plastic enclosure held together with two tiny screws, one deep in the box. I was able to use a jeweler's screw driver to get them out, thank god I have good glasses and some nimbleness in my fingers. Sprayed it real good, put it all back together and it's now as smooth as butter and as quiet as a church mouse.

Unfortunately both of us are feeling the pain and at each other so we need a bit of a break. She's off to VA for ten days which is a vacation for me.

Hitt, my surround Bose speakers are probably pretty close to the same age, maybe a few years older. I was powering them with an Onkyo AV amp which is why everything got so complicated. I started questioning why I had so many wires coming up from the floor but then realized how I had really complicate the system. I should have gotten the TV table I have now and put the receiver inder the TV and left the two systems separated. They now will function much easier. It got so complicated that I couldn't figure things out anymore. I had a switch box to turn off indoor speakers and turn on outside speakers so I didn't have an impedance issue that would burn out equipment, the works. Time for simplification and to actually be able to use the system. It was so out of control, when I bought my first flat screen I bought a cheap soundbar and the good stuff sat idly one the other wall. At least I'm getting my shades of tan. lol

And your story about your leak brings me to my last subject. Thursday night I was cleaning brushes and rollers in the kitchen sink (I sure miss having a laundry room with a tub to do that stuff, fortunately it's stainless). I let the dirty water out and the draining sound was just not right. The tail piece and the trap separated dumping the water under the sink and onto the kitchen floor. It wasn't the first time.

This time I was determined to fix it. It has a 6" medal tail piece that's been there since I moved in. I finally decided to replace it and put a longer PVC in and cut it longer. Unfortunately when I tried to turn it off, it wouldn't budge but the entire housing turned which I knew would leak.

I got it all back together and decided that could wait. It was only a slight drip so far. I'll decide if I want to retro fit it all just buy new and finally resolve all the issues. I really want to have the entire kitchen ripped out but that's still on hold.

Between fixing the ceiling and leak Saturday and clearing snow on and off yesterday, I feel like I didn’t get a weekend. Now I get to drive to work in crappy road conditions. I am glad that I’ll be off all next week on vacation. I was already feeling burnt out at work so the stuff going on at home isn’t helping.

Thanks for the birthday wishes. Although a busy weekend it was without much fanfare which is perfect for me. I picked up a head cold late last week so Friday I was in bed early and then up early on Saturday because my oldest had a wrestling meet. Spent most of the day in the gym watching him and his team. He went 3-0 with two pins and took first in his bracket and his team took first as well. He's come a long way from his first match four years ago and it shows in his confidence. Met a few friends at a local tavern for a bite and a few brews Saturday night but the head cold had me back in bed pretty early. Then yesterday we headed to the lake shore for a funeral/ celebration for a friends mother who passed away last week. Nice get together with food, drinks, and a band. I prefer the celebration type funeral instead of a bunch of people sitting around a parlor looking at a casket. When I go the way of the dinosaurs I want it to be a celebration as well. No crying, have a beer, some chow, and enjoy the day.

My whole d ay went to sleeping. My back was so bad that work wasn't in the cards. We had some 600mg ibuprofen left over from a previous gf ailment that I finally took this PM and then slept. Woke up feeling good enough to put up the surround speakers in the ceiling. Speaking of which Hitt, if your covers are looking a bit ragged from accumulated dirt (the ones at ceiling level were awful), dump them in a container you can close up with a mixture of Shout and water. Leave them in there a few days occasionally agitating and then let them dry. They look brand new, better than the discoloration of the plastic covers over the mountings, if you used them. They were so bad that I just left them off when I reinstalled.

Rebel, that's the way to celebrate a life. I've already decided there will be no funeral for me. I was just going to have my ashes dumped in the backyard but my sister insisted I needed to go into the family plot. I want a party even if I can't be there.

Sounds like your son is doing real well wrestling Penn State under Cael Sanderson has won 8 of the last 9 national championships. He's one heck of a recruiter and coach. His streak of 60 straight dual meet wins from February 22, 2015 to November 22, 2019 just ended when Arizona State edged them a couple weeks ago.

Roth, Penn state is my son's favorite college as it is a powerhouse for wrestling. I was fortunate enough to go to school with a couple of excellent wrestlers. You might have heard of them, Rick and Scott Rechsteiner, also known as the Stenier Brothers of the WWE. They were a few years older than me in high school and were both products of the U of M wrestling program before they made the leap to professional wrestling. Had a chance to catch up with them quite few years back when they were still relevant in pro wrestling. Safe to say that steroids might have been used as they were both monsters, easily twice the size they were in high school. Judging by their wiki pages they are still out there tossing people around, got to be a tough road to travel when you get old...

I used to watch that pro wrestling and remember the Stenier brothers.

I'm rather ...... off at work right now. I'm trying to get as much done as possible before going on vacation next week and my boss dumped two more projects on me this morning. It was going to be a struggle getting everything done before but now some customers aren't going to get their equipment back until I get back from vacation. Oh well, they'll have to listen to them call and complain while I'm off next week.

We've been hectic at work the last month or so. They put us on 7 days after Thanksgiving trying build up inventory.

They're really showing their asses now on certain things. I'll point out quality issues and the boss has instructions to keep the line running. Just have to shrug and think if they don't care I guess I don't either. Great way to keep customers.

A few days ago there was a diesel fuel spill on final line. Rather than wait for the hazard crew to clean up the spill and repair the issue on the truck, management had people work around the spill while they attempted to clean it. That just led to another diesel spill down the line and more people working around it. Pure lunacy.

That's the motto, no one cares until someone gets hurt.

You can stop the line and get thrown out for a shop rule violation in those instances. You'll get your record scrubbed and the pay back and what not since you're standing up for safety, but that takes weeks.

Today is my last day at work before nine days off including weekends. I'm very much looking forward to it. We only ever get two weeks of vacation since we are a small company with 13 employees. At least that's what my boss tells me anyway. I do know that I get burned out by the end of the year and really need this time off. I've got stuff to do today but it shouldn't be frantic. What gets done is what gets done and I'm not going to stress over it. One of the projects I was supposed to do got cancelled because not all of the stuff was delivered on time. It'll be here waiting for me when I get back.

Right behind you, after Saturday's shift anyway.

I wheeled and dealed with my boss to get last Sunday off and succeeded, so I tried a similar bargain for this Saturday. No dice, not even for my counter offer of him looking the other way on Saturday when I come in drunk and continue to drink egg nog to the point of uselessness and getting thrown out before lunch. Worth a shot

Never was a pro wrestling fan and not much collegiate wrestling was available on the tube during their years in college plus they would have been wrestling while I was searching for my ultimate career. lol

I checked them out, yeah those steroids. I'll never forget going to Rec Hall at Penn State to play some basketball. I crossed paths with Mike Reid, a star defensive lineman. He was coming out of the showers and he was huge. He played for the Bengals for four or five years then abruptly retired as an All Pro and went on to a career as a country singer/songwriter. I saw him in concert and, afterward, peddling merchandise. I was shocked at how "normal" he looked. We were pretty much the same size by that time. Can't believe he wasn't juiced for football. Of course that was before anyone made a big deal about those things.

Yeah, if your son ever got a shot to play for Cael, you'd know he was premier nationally. He's like the Nick Saban of wrestling. Penn State has two (used to have three) coaches of that caliber. The other active coach is Russ Rose of women's volleyball is the other. He's won 7 NCs. The other one was Emmanuel Kaidanov who won 13 NCs in fencing before he got fired a few years back. They haven't won since.

Hitt, that's always the way it works before you go on vacation. Hope yesterday went smooth and you're in relax mode today and for the rest of the year.

Waho, I appreciate anyone working a line. I worked in the warehouse of the tile factory my mom spent years in. The only line I would have wanted was the order fulfillment lines in the warehouse and only because of the money. My job was all muscle. Either pulling boxes for orders or stacking/restacking stuff. I seriously don't know how they did it. My sister was the same way although I don't think a sheet music factory would be nearly as bad.

Roth, yesterday went very easy. There was a mixup on delivery and I didn’t have to put together and run in the 40k welder that the boss was frantic to get billed out before the end of the year. I go back on the 30th so I’ll get it done then.

Whelp, I wanted to report in on all white Snus. I figured give it a couple of weeks.

First, the only all white snus that has actual tobacco in it is good old "General" and it's G4 line. The rest are just cleverly disguised nic pouches, I think. Nicotine is "extracted" somehow and put on cardboard.

G4 IS white, it stays white, and so that makes it WAY stealthier for me. It has a fairly high nic content but it does seem to release it slowly over time. There appear to be enough alkaloids to matter. I've had a pouch in my mouth for 1.5/2 hours without needing to change it, unless I'm thinking about it.

It tastes... airier somehow. I got the mint, and then something called "Cryo." Which has more taste actually, so it "works" better (for me anyway) I like to taste stuff if it's not gross. The mint isn't gross, it's just very subtle flavored.

I am going to give G4 a BIG shoutout for not causing me to have to wipe the edges of my mouth all the time to check for black specks. So YAY. It definitely works, it was definitely opened by customs and they definitely let it through. So it took longer than anticipated.

I have not used the regular general white Snus at work since getting the G4. I would guess, if you don't have a super valid reason for switching, I might think one might prefer the snus they already have. However, my experience with the G4 has been very positive.

Figured I would share. Happy holidays everyone! @hittman you need to stop breaking stuff to get out of shopping. Well, maybe not, since it is working for you. I don't want to go out there either.

LOL a very festive holiday to all!

I spent my day today putting struts and sway bar ends on my oldest daughters car. The garage quoted us a rack and pinion but I had my brother in law come over and look at it and he said the rack wasn’t bad. I spent about 250 on parts instead of 1200 at the garage.

That was a great deal Hitt. I wish I was more auto mechanically inclined. At this point though, it's just too much trouble to learn fore me and I have more important things to learn like rebuilding a speaker and either baking a receiver board or heating up a chip to melt the solder into the chip's pockets.

What I did do today is go to HF and buy the little 10" Bauer Lithium chainsaw. My nextdoor neighbor had a tree fall toward his house and hit it with its branches. I told him I'd help him out by cutting away those that actually hit his vinyl siding. It basically ruined his gutters but the siding looked okay and I could tell the weight was being held up away from the branches so it shouldn't be a difficult task.

However, they had this Chainsaw on sale and the idea of avoiding the entire ritual involved with firing one of my gas powered saws got me interested in a battery powered one and this was a great excuse to buy one. They're so light and convenient. I had all the branches off the tree and cut it back as far from the house as I could get it without jacking up the tree and bucking off rounds where I'd need one of the bigger saws.

Unfortunately, his new vinyl didn't escape unharmed. One panel had a small hole and a couple cracks around it where, I suppose, a limb hit it pretty hard. Now immediately visible unless you walk up to it.
