Our schools are on spring break this week, but are closed at least another week because of the virus, currently not starting back until March 30th, but that could change.

I personally think some of the precautions are going overboard, but it is what it is I guess. The DW orders TP in bulk online, so we always have a good supply on hand, and I still don't understand the rush on it in the stores. I am really not doing anything different, I always avoid sick people anyway, and anyone sick should stay home so as not to infect others. I had some Canadian customers today tell me they have to go back to Canada pronto or loose their health insurance, they are not happy about that as they were not planning on going back till mid to late April.

I did put in a Snus order today for a 6 month supply (still have about 4 months worth + in the freezer), just didn't want to take a chance of shipping being closed in the near future because of this virus and me running out (no place to buy Real Snus within 100 miles). Did save some on shipping, Snus Central is giving $20 off on orders over $200, and mine was well over that. They were also the only one out of 5 sites I looked at that had all four I ordered in stock.

My live in wanted me to get some aloe vera since hand sanitizer is completely sold out. Well, so is the aloe. After hitting a grocery store and two drug stores I gave up. I'm in that danger age and she's got enough health issues that she's probably in more of a danger zone so a solution is needed. She came home with two bottles of 70% iso rubbing alcohol which they say isn't high enough alc content but I'm not sure.

I had a bottle of 91% which is what they recommend and I mixed it 2/3 to 1/3 vg. and now we have a hand sanitizer to take when out of the house. It seems to me that the 70% if mixed a bit better than 4.25 to .75 would get close to that 60% but might be a bit like pouring alcohol on your hands.

There was tp in the grocery store when I stopped but not a lot of it.

My youngest got an email a little while ago that all college classes are online only the rest of the semester. She came home for a visit last weekend and didn’t go back since it was initially cancelled for a couple weeks. They didn’t say anything about moving stuff out of the dorm. I’m hoping they at least give us some kind of credit since she’s not using the meal plan we paid for. She had to fill out a form online last week to verify she was at home and not in the dorm.

There was a scheduled line speed increase scheduled for yesterday that went into effect. They still haven't sorted out the overcycled jobs from a year ago, so the sounds of alarms going off all day is fairly irritating.

My wife called the remodel company in mild panic over whether they'll continue work during this outbreak. They had a similar reaction of redoubling cleaning efforts and taking employees temperatures before letting them in the building/sending them to jobsites. Thankfully work continues, but even so we've got water now so it's less of a crappy situation in the kitchen if the state does halt work like this.

The tile guy started yesterday on our backsplash and fireplace. The spacers are fairly distracting but it's gonna be sweet once they're gone and it's grouted.

Hitt, I posted this on FB but in case you missed it. Here's a tale from Penn State how they mismanaged the effort of removing things from dorms. Talk about not following suggested medical advice.

I didn't see that. Do you have a link? I'm kind of hoping that my daughter, her boyfriend, and my wife go to move her stuff out during the week but I doubt that will happen. Otherwise I'm looking at 6-7 hours of driving along with packing and loading all in one day. If they go, they could spend the night and drive back another day. I have always hated moving in and out of dorms since we started with my oldest. I'll be glad when the youngest gets into an apartment. Things fell apart with the friends she was going to get an apartment with so things are up in the air right now. Room and board is super expensive at the college.

What kind of tile is that? It almost looks like wood in the picture. It's nice. Hopefully they get everything finished up for you. I tiled our fireplace and hearth and did the downstairs bathroom. I've had pretty good results doing tile. I priced having someone do the fireplace and it was about half the price to buy a tile saw and all the materials and do it myself so I did. If I could have afforded the difference at the time I would have paid to have it done.

It's regular old ceramic tile with a wood look finish. They're 8" x 24" if I recall correctly so they look more like actual wood than the 8" x 8" or 4" x 12" sizes.

It wasn't cheap having it done, but I absolutely hate doing tile and since we were getting a loan for the work we figured just add it on so it's done professionally. Otherwise my wife and her ability to notice infinitesimal flaws like they're spotlighted and with a klaxon alarm combined with not letting me forget about said flaws would have driven me crazy.

LOL. When I installed the tongue and grove over the fireplace, right in the very middle of the wall, I installed two boards where the board above and below were just about aligned rather than spaced appropriately. There were 4 or 5 pieces in that row and I had dry fitted them to make sure everything was okay then glued and nailed them in place. It wasn't until that was done and the next row installed that I saw the error.

I could have tried to take the two rows out and fix but I figured I'd end up damaging something so decided the two foot clock I was putting up anyway would cover the error. It did.

Sorry Hitt, I had copied the address but forgot to paste. Is memory loss a sign of Coronavirus?

My Sad, Strange, & Convoluted Return To My Dorm

Facebook took the post down as not meeting community standards. This was a personal account by one student of what happened when the school closed down and gave the students a time to come in and clear out their personal property.

No explanation of why or a means of questioning such.

I can't believe my debit card got compromised overnight. I got hit about a year or so ago and stopped using it for ecig purchases and try to only use paypal for that stuff. I let my daughter use my debit card to order some jeans online so I'm guessing that's how it got out there. Who knows for sure. I'm sure I'll never find out.

Sorry about the shut down Waho. Hopefully it doesn't impact you too much. I saw they are exploring the possibility of making respirators on the automotive lines that are shutting down. I imagine that's no easy transition...
We'll get unemployment and sub pay, so it ends up being 90% of our normal income. I also held onto my income tax return and profit sharing check so I'll be ok. Thanks for the concern [emoji106]

Ugh, that's the worst. I've gotten hit 4 times in the last years and it's a pain every time. Hopefully they get you all straightened out without too much hassle or expense.

Hitt, I had me local bank debit card compromised a couple years ago and was told it had a hit somewhere down south at a convenience store. When I went in to get a new one, the woman handling it said I was the second one she had dealt with that had the same story. To me it sounded like it was compromised at the debit card company itself or the bank.

The main branch of my credit union "prints" a fairly flimsy card to hold you over until they can mail you a new card with a chip. It's a 15 minute drive over there vs 5 minutes to my local branch, but it's worth the additional hassle.

We were scheduled to shutdown in Flint next Wednesday, but at roughly 5pm yesterday the bosses slammed line stops and started yelling for everyone to head straight home. Apparently we had a confirmed case in the plant not far from where I work in the Trim shop, so they err'd on the side of caution (probably more like the union helped them cave) and shut us down for the immediate future. No idea when I'll be going back.

On the upside, I grabbed some brake pads for my truck so I'll at least have one project to burn some time.

My bank, which is locally owned, replaces them right on site.
I can normally get a new temporary card at my bank also but the closest branch is closed and others are drive through only so I don't know if they would issue a card in the drive thru.
