I treated myself to picking up a half load of firewood for next year, stopped at the grocery store on the way back and decided that we hadn't had any sliced ham in a while so picked up a couple and the fixings and went home to stack the wood up. Put everything, almost, away for the incoming rain and settled in for the evening. As I was writing this at 2 AM in the morning, it hit me that I left the various splitting tools out in the open and need to go back out and put them away before it rains in a couple hours. lol
Anyway, I got a call from my gf's buddy that shows up here all hours of the day. He asked if I could help him set up Bill Pay. He's losing it fast and has resisted getting a will prepared and setting someone up as a power of attorney if he's incapable of dealing with his own business.
Anyway, he came over and I realized he hadn't opened the really nice laptop I helped him get months ago. I spent hours getting the updates done and it set up to show him how Bill Pay worked when I found he had never gotten on line with his bank. He uses the same one I do so it would have been easy to get him started. Unfortunately, I had to enroll him in the site and that will be a job for the future. Of course my gf wanted me to ask him to talk to him about the will and power of attorney but I really didn't want to get involved. I know I should offer to do it as my gf suggested but I'm tired of dealing with other people's business after dealing with my mom's and uncle's. Her sister wants to have him give her the power of attorney and I don't trust her as far as I can
throw her, but that's another story.
Anyway we had the ham dinner and my gf made a surprise birthday cake that I stumbled upon in the refrigerator before we ate. It was really good, It was a box vanilla cake with chocolate icing that she added fruits in between layers. It was delicious.
Almost forgot the start of the day. I went next door with my nearly month long visiting as he has a rescue dog that we've been trying to break of growling at visitors. She's getting better with me but still isn't right. Anyway, he bought a new 300 pound wood stove that we had to take the old one out and get the new one in. A real challenge but we managed.
From about 9 on I was off to dream land until about half an hour ago when the dog decided it was time to go out. And that's how I started my year's march to becoming, if I'm lucky enough, to become
three quarter of a century old. Now back out to save my log splitting tools from the rain.
