Well it took me almost 74 years but I finally fried a small engine. Don't tell me you get smarter in your old age. lol I had that feeling that I should check the oil and I didn't follow up on it and it seized on Monday. I tried a few things from YouTube but no luck. Fortunately the engine is available but it's going to take a while to get here. They're probably sitting somewhere in the Pacific right now. I was so close to finishing too. It's never too late to learn a lesson.

    What is the engine on?

I treated myself to picking up a half load of firewood for next year, stopped at the grocery store on the way back and decided that we hadn't had any sliced ham in a while so picked up a couple and the fixings and went home to stack the wood up. Put everything, almost, away for the incoming rain and settled in for the evening. As I was writing this at 2 AM in the morning, it hit me that I left the various splitting tools out in the open and need to go back out and put them away before it rains in a couple hours. lol

Anyway, I got a call from my gf's buddy that shows up here all hours of the day. He asked if I could help him set up Bill Pay. He's losing it fast and has resisted getting a will prepared and setting someone up as a power of attorney if he's incapable of dealing with his own business.

Anyway, he came over and I realized he hadn't opened the really nice laptop I helped him get months ago. I spent hours getting the updates done and it set up to show him how Bill Pay worked when I found he had never gotten on line with his bank. He uses the same one I do so it would have been easy to get him started. Unfortunately, I had to enroll him in the site and that will be a job for the future. Of course my gf wanted me to ask him to talk to him about the will and power of attorney but I really didn't want to get involved. I know I should offer to do it as my gf suggested but I'm tired of dealing with other people's business after dealing with my mom's and uncle's. Her sister wants to have him give her the power of attorney and I don't trust her as far as I can throw her, but that's another story.

Anyway we had the ham dinner and my gf made a surprise birthday cake that I stumbled upon in the refrigerator before we ate. It was really good, It was a box vanilla cake with chocolate icing that she added fruits in between layers. It was delicious.

Almost forgot the start of the day. I went next door with my nearly month long visiting as he has a rescue dog that we've been trying to break of growling at visitors. She's getting better with me but still isn't right. Anyway, he bought a new 300 pound wood stove that we had to take the old one out and get the new one in. A real challenge but we managed.

From about 9 on I was off to dream land until about half an hour ago when the dog decided it was time to go out. And that's how I started my year's march to becoming, if I'm lucky enough, to become three quarter of a century old. Now back out to save my log splitting tools from the rain.

That’s a lot of work for a birthday but it sounds like you don’t mind. I’m sure staying active lol you do really helps. I could stand to be more active myself. I’m usually wiped by the time I get home from work. I had to go help move a double recliner love seat up stairs into the in-laws house last night.

    Happy Belated Roth!

I don't get in here much with the home makeover going full blown and taking on a new job. But glad to see people still doing the usual. Remember when I said I was repainting kitchen cabinets? Well that has now transitioned into replacing the floors in the kitchen and living room with vinyl planking which is all the rage now. That consists of me ripping up the carpet in the living room, putting down 3/4 osb to build it up to the level of the hardwood in the kitchen, taking off all the trim, laying down the floor and putting in all new trim. Then I get to paint doors...
I might have bit off more than I can chew. o_O

That sure is a big job. The older I get, the more I like the idea of hiring stuff out if I can afford it.

Oh trust me, I considered it. Even got a couple of quotes. A. Builders are so crazy busy right now that if you get one to call you back you're lucky. B. Since they are so crazy busy they can quote outrageous prices so that you turn them down and they go back to the bigger jobs. I'm saving more than half doing it myself and I get the satisfaction of saying I did it and it was done right. Except painting, I told my wife I'll never paint another thing as long as I live. Way too frustrating and time consuming. I'll pay good money to have that done in the future.

I don’t really mind painting as long as my wife leaves the room. We don’t work well together painting.

I get doing the stuff yourself. Labor is expensive. Especially when builders are busy. When we bought our house it was busy and it was just finished being built. There’s room behind one side of the garage and wanted someone to add on to it to make that side a tandem garage but couldn’t even get someone to quote it.

Nah, it's been pretty dull around here. It's been four years now since I got together with my sister's family. The first one missed was when I didn't show up. I had stopped earlier in the day to see my cousin who's dad had died earlier that year. His wife had put together a huge loose leaf notebook of family pictures. When I got home, I started looking through it and never got finished. A heavy dose of melancholy came over me and then depression seeing all of my history had passed. I just couldn't get it together to see anyone that night.

Last year nothing happened because of the Covid thing and this year I heard nothing from my sister until I sent her a Merry Christmas email this morning. She sent back and said they got together with their son's family on Thursday and their daughter went to Vermont for Xmas with her husband's family. If I were to guess, I'm sure she had the Covid fear again this year being devoted to a life guided by the MSM.

Anyway, it's been a quiet day around here. Had prime rib last night that my gf's sister had made which was amazing and ham tonight which was delicious but nowhere close to the prime rib that I hadn't had in years.

How about you Hitt? Kids all home for the festivities?

What is MSM? Our youngest daughter came home yesterday and we went to the outlaws house last night for gift exchange. She has a border collie puppy she got in August that comes with her. He’s fun but too energetic for me. That dog never gets tired. She had to go back today to work at an assisted living center she is working at as a cna while in college. Our oldest daughter and possibly the boyfriend are coming Tuesday since she had to work the day before and the day after Xmas. We told her we didn’t want her driving three hours each way on Xmas day to only come home for a few hours. Just didn’t make sense. We had to go to the outlaws house tonight again because the one brother in law is a jerk and made other plans last night so we had to go again for gift exchange with him and his girlfriend. Everyone was grumpy when we got there and everyone was mad by the time we left. We took over dinner for the second night in a row. They had nothing to go with what we brought so I had to cut up lettuce and stuff so we could have salad to go with the meatballs and pasta we brought.

MSM, main stream media, the marketing/propaganda arm of the left.

I hear you on the family get together thing. When I was married it was such a struggle working on the logistics of the holiday with everyone having various plans. My ex was one of three women and a brother. Getting everyone on the same page as far as plans were concerned was always a challenge. It was almost worth getting divorces to lose that obligation.
