It's actually a little cheap direct from the Temco site..
Kanthal Wire - Resistance & Non-Resistance Wire - Wire, Cable and Accessories Guides - Product Guides
Amazon is selling the 30ga at $7.10 Direct is selling it for $6.59 Both with free shipping.
Kanthal A1 Wire 30 AWG RW0108 - 250 Ft 0.97 oz Series A-1 Resistance

As far as stainless, I usually find an online vape store and buy what they have.

Good info. It's been about 4 years since I've needed to buy any.

I've always heard the same about domestic wire, @Horselady154 , no idea if it's true or not. But a spool or so isn't real spendy, domestic is quicker (generally), and domestic is, well, domestic. :)

That video I posted has got me a bit concerned. Is there a way to tell the difference between SS and Nickel, in case of mislabeling?

Most of us buy wire from Advanced Vape Supply - excellent place for wire and premade coils.

That said, with kidney puncher it was one batch that had issues, and I think they have tried to be careful about sourcing their materials since then.. so I will occasionally still buy from them..

I bought a bunch of wire from Fasttech a while back when I was still experimenting with a lot of different builds. I don't experiment much now and coils last me at least six months before I consider replacing then so I suspect the wire I have will last me a very very long time. I don't buy into that whole specialist/competition wire thing, one spool of 26G kanthal is the same as another as far as I'm concerned. People like to think that fancy matériel can replace skill or perseverance.

Temco. Excellent wire and is likely the source for all the spools being sold with new labels at higher prices as "vaping wire". And free shipping in the US (out of CA). For complex coils that you either don't want to or can't spin yourself. Advanced Vape Supply is excellent. It's all SS 316L and well made, as well as affordable for complex coils.

I just used the last of a Master of Clouds SS316L 28ga spool the other day. I bought two when I purchased that one, so I'm probably good for two more years. I also have a spool or two of Nichrome and Kanthal and a couple of unopened rolls of 26ga, but haven't used those in a while.

Wire is probably the cheapest consumable we use in terms of how long a roll lasts. Cotton and Rayon are probably in the same range.

I am not really sure. A magnet, maybe?

Nickel is magnetic and SS 316 shouldn't be, but in some cases it is. I don't posses any sort of knowledge why this is though. I just slightly remember reading it somewhere.

I purchase all my wire from Lightning Vapes.

I was going to order from Kidney Puncher, but then I saw this video. So, where do you get yours from? I plan to order SS and Kanthal.

That guy is a master of drama and will post anything to propagate it, I wouldn't watch his videos if he was the only reviewer on earth. I also believe that is was only one batch of wire that was like that, things happen and stuff gets rectified. I wouldn't worry about ordering wire from KP.

I get my wire from Zivipf, they are in Germany and ship worldwide quickly for a very reasonable cost. They carry almost every type of wire and it is very high quality.
Zivipf.de

I also buy wire from Lightning Vapes and Advanced Vape Supply, but Zivipf is my first choice.

Although if they labeled something as SS and it was really Nickel and you ran it on wattage, it could be a very big deal, no? But, if Nickel is magnetic (glad to find that out), that's easy enough to test. That was my biggest concern. Not knowing if they had screwed up and I was unknowingly using nickel.

People with a nickle allergy would have a problem using Ni200 wire.

Ni200 is only a problem in wattage mode if the wick goes dry, as long as your wick stays saturated Ni200 is no more dangerous than any other wire. It was one of the best wires for TC but no one uses it anymore, it's just too soft to work with.

Ni200 is very soft, even the "Tempered" variety, the thicker gauges are alright but 28ga and 30ga are impossible to work with unless they are twisted.

Ni200 also has a very, very low resistance, this is another way to tell what you have is not SS or KA1, make a spaced coil and measure the resistance, for example:
8 wraps of 26ga SS316L on 3mm is 0.6 ohms
8 wraps of 26ga KA1 on 3mm is 1.0 ohms
8 wraps of 26ga Ni200 on 3mm is 0.07 ohms
Quite a drastic difference with the Ni200 wire.

SS316L wire has a 10-14% Nickel content, SS430 has no more than 0.75% Nickel.
