Why are we still referring to PVs as e-cigarettes?!

So I've recently been thinking about all the equal tax for e liquid ideas being thrown around by local government. I get that the government sees a way to make the money they are missing out on from the analogs. But what I don't understand is why they would want to deter vapers from making the healthier choice they've made by making it just as expensive as cigarettes or more from some articles I've read... I have an assumption why non-users associate it with smoking, Because a lot of people both community members and outsiders? Refer PVs as "e-cigarettes" or "e-cigs". Why are we still doing this? I would think everyone involved in this sub culture would want to keep vaping as far away from being classified as any form of cigarette as possible... Sorry for the rant but I just received yet another call to action email from CASAA and vaping is one of the best decisions I've made in my life, I'm so happy not to smoke any longer, and I feel it's being threatened. Again sorry for my rant.
vape on everyone.

Vape on everyone.

Because recently, the tobacco industry has started seeing the effect on their balance sheet;
the tobacco lobbyist respond by treating it as unfair competition and they lobby the politicians

That's the way the inventors marketed it in the first place. In the second place, its now engrained in society. Third, it works for the ANTZ and politicians so they're not going to help it go away anytime soon. Personally, I'm past caring about what anyone calls it. At home my non-smoker Huggy refers to it as my "smoke stick." I don't care.. it gets the point across.

Edit: LOL... that's a typo but I'm leavin it... looks more like a Freudian slip.

I hear ya and somewhat agree

what should we call it ? e-milk / nic-e / e-pipe / e-gardening / e-watching TV

what else relates to puffing to get nicotine delivery

can you throw a name out ? I try and can't

another designation would be nice...

electronic cigarette = not a real analog cigarette (burning paper & plant)

I think we are stuck with it

try writing something to describe "E-CIGS" without using that term...

"hey, my nicotine delivery device is empty, can you pull over at the shop on the corner
so I can replenish my flavored nicotine atomizer puffing machine..."

This makes sense, if that's what it was called in the first place. The term doesn't bother me at all. Even here in the boonies of Oklahoma, where no one finds out about anything new for a long time, people know just what you are talking about when you say e-cigarette. I think if I said "vaporizer" all my little old lady friends would think I had developed asthma or some other breathing disease. Even the blue-haired grannies seem to know what an e-cigarette is. Now what they think of them here is a whole nother story.:)

Unfortunately, you won't find a reasonable argument here. With answers like, uhh, that's what it's always been called or, how would I explain it to people. It's a loosing battle. Also, unfortunate is the fact that the industry as well as fellow vapers do not recognize the number who not only gave up tobacco but the just as worse drug, nicotine. As long as folks proudly claim they need their nicotine, it will never change. IF vaping were to be outlawed, part of it will be because of the connection with nicotine. I guess some can claim they've 'quit' but, their still addicted to nic. Sorry, we just cannot ignore or deny that factor. Look at the wonderful answer you got from a not so 'fellow' vaper pretty much telling you to go somewhere else and talk about it. People actually see the title of the thread, join it, read it, and then take the time to bash the thought of a different name. Likely for fear they themselves might not remember what or where they left theirs, LOL :D
