Why did you start vaping?

I got a girlfriend who hated smoking and I knew I had to do something about my smoking habit. She never knew I smoked and I wanted to keep it that way. That and smoking and sports don't mix very well. Why did you stop?

Spot on. Plus I started law school and had this moment where I saw myself smoking as a old man.. Wasn't a happy picture.

I had been smoking for 15 years; my girfriend is a type 1 diabetic so i knew her starting smoking was not only much worse for her, but it was MY fault! i had already tried gum, patches and a pill *chanitx?* and nothing ever worked, i had to have that coffin nail. I had tried cigalikes before but they either gave me a headache or didnt give me enough nicotine. I found vaping by chance of driving by Elite Vapors just about every day after work... one day after dinner i just stopped by *girlfriend in tow* and we talked to the guys in there for a good 2 hours asking every question known to man. I then went home and researched that entire weekend. That monday we went and picked up 2 starter kits *ego w/ 4 Kanger T3s* and some juice. Ive had ONE Cigarette in 2 weeks. It was HORRIBLE. No throat hit, no flavor and the exhale / after taste was enough to make me wanna yak.

The physiological addiction was probably worse then the chemical dependency. Gums, lozenges and chantix were all fine and dandy but at the end of the day it was the procedure of smoking I found most addicting. Nothing like that waking up, after lunch, dinner, reason to step away from work for a break, and any stressed out moment action of having a smoke. I found it was my way of putting the world on pause to have a moment to myself and reflect or just go blank and not think about anything. Stepping outside without a smoke felt hollow and just didn't work.

You hit the nail on the head.

I wanted to save my teeth while I could, moved to a new area where like no one has teeth... thought to self I don't wanna look like that...saw the cig commercial of the kid pulling out his own teeth for menthols, then decided yeah might as well quit. also the fact that I cant even walk 15 feet with out getting heavy on breath. sad thing is I am not big so I shouldn't have breathing problems like that. hopefully this was a step in the right direction.

I started because of a plethora of reasons. The two that really drove me to it were making it a New Year's resolution to quit smoking the real things; and secondly, I refused to allow my son to ever look at me and think that cigarettes are okay. Though to be honest, the second of those reasons was the real driving force behind making the switch.
The better breath, whiter teeth, healthier lungs, etc. were all pretty welcome benefits that made it even easier to start vaping and quit smoking.

Been smoking for 40 years - since college. Quit once in the late '70's for two weeks in order to switch to lights from Marlboro Red. That worked, but I was still maintaining a pack a day for awhile. Over the years I have whittled it down to about 6-7 cigs a day, but if left to my own devices my baseline would still be at least a pack.

I wanted to quit inhaling harmful substances, but the fact remained that I LOVE to smoke. I tried Wellbutrin which helped me cut a few smokes out of my day and probably could have helped me quit entirely if I had the motivation - which I didn't. Did I mention I like to smoke? I originally didn't try nicotine replacement or gum because...I liked to smoke.

Then e-cigs went mainstream (sorta) but I still didn't bite because I was afraid that, since my nicotine intake per day is not great, they would take me backwards with the actual nic addiction. This is before I learned that you could vary the nicotine strength.

After I found that out it was off it the races. I looked at cig-alikes, but where were all the cool tastes
I heard tell about? Then I discovered personal vaporizors. 5 days in I love it and am (so far) off cigarettes and on 6mg nicotine. I can still inhale, exhale smoke, and hold something on my hand. Plus get my minimal amount of nicotine. E-cigs are it for me and will be even better when I train my brain that it doesn't need a tobacco cig every time in the day when we used to have a tobacco cig.

The original plan was to quit cigarettes. If that worked I might work on lowering nicotine. Well, I'm already steeping some lower nicotine stuff and my new plan is to get to 0 nic. I could vape all day, but I want to get to 0 before I do that.

Smoked a PAD or more from 15 to 43. Tried V2's at the beginning of 2013 and was doing them and smokes for a bit. A friend turned me on to his Egos in July, bought a Vision Spinner and a couple of T3's with a bunch of juice. Was done with smokes by August and now have a fleet of PV's and flavors. So many benefits and cool things to learn. I'm truly thankful for vaping..
