Why did you start vaping?

I started vaping to quit smoking cigarettes. I was about a pack a day (20 cigarettes+) smoker for about 15 years. I wanted to quit and I thought vaping would help. My mom got my wife and myself eGo clones for Christmas 2013, the next day was the first day we didn't smoke. We're on day 82 I believe, and no plans on ever going back.

I didn't really quit smoking for the reasons I should have, like my health, or even to save money. I quit because of the stink and the mess. I got sick of my car being covered in ashes. Even the outside from ashing out the window in the morning.
I bought my first house a little over a year ago and couldn't even enjoy it because I had exiled myself out to the back porch because of the stink stix. I'd come home from work and walk right through the house to go spend the rest of the night smoking outside. I said to myself, "I didn't work so hard to have this beautiful new house to only use it to sleep in."
Now I can vape inside in the AC. No more stink. No more mess.

I quit for health reasons. I don't cough like I used to, haven't had asthmatic bronchitis since I quit almost 2 years ago. Trying to get the hubby to quit but not having any luck..I'm hoping maybe he will try my provari when I get it in the mail, but I have 5 different batteries and they are all auto's and he still won't even give them a try, when I get a new flavor he will take a puff or so but then he goes back for the stinky crap again..I even tell him he smell's like a dirty ashtray which I never realized until I quit and nadda he goes back for the same dirty cigs..

I started vaping because I wanted to stop smoking cigarettes. I tried quitting before and it didn't last. I was tired of getting bronchial infections and overall feeling crappy. Besides, I'm not getting any younger and I figured I better do something while I'm still in pretty decent health. So, I figured it can't be any worse than smoking cigarettes. I did my research and jumped in with both feet. It's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

Wanted to cut back on cigarettes. Never intended to quit. Was a two pack a day smoker and thought if I could get down to 5 or ten smokes a day I would be thrilled. It did not work very well as planned. First day I was down to 5 a day and then I quit smoking cigarettes all together. Smoked all tobacco vapes for six months but have since changed that also. Today it is Rootbeer. LOL

I was never a smoker. I've tried gum and lozenges that I borrowed from friends who were trying to quit, just to see what the effect of the nicotine would be. I liked it. It mellowed me out and suppressed my craving for sugary, refined carbohydrate type snacks between meals. I even bought some gum for myself, but couldn't get into chewing the gum regularly or sucking on the lozenges. I tried vaping, more or less on an impulse. Turns out it's a satisfying between meal indulgence which suppresses my appetite and I've reduced my sugary snack intake considerably. I wouldn't call it a solution. It's a trade off. I'm enjoying it. We'll see where it goes.

Hey there! Just registered on the forum and this will be my very first post. Glad to be apart of an online vape community. :)

I was a heavy-ish smoker (one pack a day?) and came to a point where I knew I wasn't enjoying my cigarettes as much as I did back then. I smoked out of habit and constantly asked myself why I put myself through this. One day my housemate came home with an Ego starter kit that came with 2 batteries and a bottle of Vermillion River Applewood, never looked back since!

I was already looking to quit, but vaping made the transition much easier. I still steal a cigarette or 2 on ocassions but I don't chase cigarettes like an addict with a license anymore. 4 months in, and I have a new hobby (that I still have to keep in check! :p) and I feel so much better health-wise.

I must admit, the first thing that pulled me in to vaping itself was learning to do smoke tricks. With that said, I took the kill two birds with one stone approach.

I've never been a heavy smoker, but I did enjoy the occasional pipe tobacco cigar, and at my worst, would smoke a PAD of em during exceedingly stressful days (this has probably happened less than 20 days in 5 years). I figured why not make the smoke tricks easier while simultaneously making my occasional smoking habit a bit healthier.
