I think I'm one of the few that never felt guilty about smoking. My grandparents (both sides) smoked till they were well into their 80s as well as my uncles... etc. I know cigs are unhealthy but I believe diet and genetics play a larger role on one's health.

The main reason I wanted to quit was the smell of my clothes and house. The need to have to leave windows open, even though it's freezing outside. Even as a smoker, I didn't like standing by someone who just came in from a smoke-break. I hated having to chew gum or worry about the smell on my hands when I had to go into a business meeting.

I started vaping years ago but it wasn't enough to pull me off analogs. I did both off and on for awhile but once I bought a variable voltage (Provari) and really got into dripping different e-juice flavors, that completely dethroned my need for analogs. Now the thought of regular cigs are boring to me as I get excited on the next e-juice I will try or think about another mod to buy as a back up...etc.

I've just started getting into the flavors this past weekend. I've got coffee and vanilla and then regular tobacco. Smoking seems so boring now compared to vaping. I'm about 25 bucks away from breaking even, so that will happen sometime this week. I never even thought about having to constantly buy lighters, gum, mints, armor all wipes for the car, and the extra cleaning it required in my car. I may already be there.

Also, I don't miss cleaning up my cigarette butts that fell out of my overflowing ash try, or my ash tray. I don't miss the empty packs in my car and the annoying cellophane that sticks to you or gets washed in your pocket. Resale value of car will be better too! No ash stuck to side of it and no more tar fogging up with windows in the car. I'm more alert in then morning and I feel l can take a deep breath easier now. My gums look healthier and I don't have sinus problems in the morning. They used to be so stopped up until around 10 am.

The new flavors take boredom away from that stinky old tobacco taste.

I never realized how much dust was in my home, until the no smoking rule went into effect. Wow, I always thought it was from the animals. My car is also smelling a bit better, it's been too cold to really clean it like it needs to be! My computer monitor doesn't have a coating on it, and I can actually SEE it!
I also was not aware that my dog smelled so bad.

Great thread. I wrote my manifesto on why I don't miss smoking right here:

http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...tential-questions-why-smoke-e-cigarettes.html

I've read several of your posts now Thucydides and I have yet to be disappointed or find any fault with your logic. I must say that your voice of reason and ability to put it so eloquently to forum is impressive. I am saddened to think that your style of writing is that of a dying breed. My SO (see what I did there)... my girlfriend is an English graduate and writes with great ease and with thoroughly engaging poignancy... as do you. Too bad there are too many people that dismiss a great/insightful read because it's TLDR (see I did it again). Regardless, I'd like you to know that I appreciate your style and the thought that you put into your posts. That is all... carry on.

I don't miss the way analogs tasted.
I don't miss the smell on my hands (which I hated even while smoking).
I don't miss not being able to find a lighter.
I don't miss trying to suck down a cig as quickly as possible in 12 degree midwest winters.
I don't miss deciding to buy cogs over food a day or two before payday.

And I LOVE shiny new toys! I've gotten 3 vapemails this week... Hence not saving any money...lulz

Anyone have any personal experience on cilia regrowth? Apparently when they start to regrowth you begin to cough and cough up stuff, cleaning out your lungs. I definitely don't miss inhaling tar thousands of chemicals, but I haven't experienced any sort of this regrowth, so far. My main reason for vaping is staying away from the tar and its side effects but so far I can't really tell that my lungs are cleaning themselves out.

I'm just over three weeks without an analog. I actually bummed one from a friend in a bar last weekend and could only smoke half, but that's been my only slip and I'm glad I did that now as I have no desire to switch back. But I can honestly say that my habit and daily routine of smoking have been broken. I no longer think of smoking on a daily basis, and i don't miss going outside to smoke and get "fresh" air. I'm now vaping less, I've moved down to 6 mg, and I don't have strong nic urges, not even after meals.

So now that I'm three weeks in without an analog (they say it takes 21-30 days to break a habit) I no longer feel myself thinking about smoking. I'm not even chain vaping now, just one or two vapes and that's it. So I'm really glad not only for my health, but I feel liberated in a sense. I feel free of the stench and thoughts of worrying when I can smoke again, and this makes me so glad I don't smoke now (aside from the negative health effects). The transition was never very hard, and it's been we'll worth it.
