Why I'm fed up with the vape community (mostly)

If it was a simple misspelling, it wouldn't be so bad. But it's an entirely wrong WORD, which means an entirely different thing, and the more often that wrong word is used, the more people who will see it, and the error is reinforced with every repetition. I see it all over the place, and it's driving me berserk.
dis·crete : adjective; individually separate and distinct.
dis·creet : adjective; 1) careful and circumspect in one's speech or actions, especially in order to avoid causing offense or to gain an advantage; 2) intentionally unobtrusive.
Discreet means on the down low, under the radar, careful, but discrete means individual or detached.
It's really not that hard.

It's not specifically hipsters it's anyone who is not respectful of another person. Huge clouds have a time and place, and it certainly isn't in a place of business unless you happen to own it. It isn't in front of a door that people have to pass through. Just because a flavor tastes and smells good to one person doesn't mean it isn't gag-inducing to someone else.
I don't believe the point alluded me at all. I took the time to read the post in it's entirety before I commented on it, not just the first two sentences. But for the sake of argument, this was my take away. People who don't look like me, and don't act like me have invaded MY thing, and it makes me uncomfortable. I don't understand why they do what they do, and I don't understand why they can't just do it the way we've always done it. I don't like it, not one bit. Why can't they just leave well enough alone???? Now somebody want's to take away what I want to do. I do it the right way, so it must be because of those that do it the wrong way. That's the only thing that makes sense, because I clearly do it the right way, and nobody would find the right way problematic. The whole thing is very unsettling. Very unsettling indeed.
Again, it's not a new mentality. Every major social or technological change has been accompanied by the same reaction. Rock music, the civil rights movement, electricity, and so on, and so on.

Reading this, I couldn't help but think about this famous scene from When Harry Met Sally (the older lady at the end):
"I'll have what's she's having."
I understand the OP to a degree, and I see no problem with posting it. The over generalization was the bad part.
I think the focus on courtesy is a good focus, and getting the balance right between not being in people's faces and not hiding our vaping for fear of the negative reaction of others is also good. Vaping when out and about gives vaping a face, making sure it's a good face is important.
Can I just say though; my clouds are slowly getting bigger, but not for arrogant show, but for personal preference in flavor and warmth. But that's me. I do know that a minority do it for effect.
A good post though. Thank you. It's given way for some real interesting responses. And discussion on public vaping, by vapers, is an important topic that is helpful to discuss amongst ourselves from time to time.

I think the big picture here is that everyone just needs to vape respectfully. I think the OP, while his intentions were good, may have gone about it wrong by throwing in stereotypes regarding persons with tattoos, piercings, and whatnot. But we should still not overlook the bigger picture. Be respectful of those around you.
I thoroughly enjoy my RDA with my .4 ohm build on my 18650 mod. I have no hesitation to fill my computer room with clouds while I sit here browsing the internet relaxing by myself. But I have never and will never bring my RDA to the bar or any other public space and force feed my vape to bystanders thus perpetuating the growing notion that vapers are part of this underground group of disrespectful people who like to blow their vape clouds directly into the mouths of babies.
While that may be an exaggerated statement, I have over-heard multiple discussions at the bar near my house, that is becoming more and more populated by vapers, regarding their discontent with vape clouds filling the room and the lack of respect that some vapers have for those around them.
If your reaction is something along the lines of "well if they don't want to be around vape or smoke, stay home" you are part of the growing problem. Keep your clouds to yourself, forcing others to take part in your vaping experience by floating massive clouds around everyone is inconsiderate and extremely rude.

Yes I did. Being director Rob Reiner's mother allowed her to say probably one of the single funniest lines in movie history.
Well, playing the devil's advocate, I have to agree with one thing about stereotypes and such... Vapers have to take long draws to get a good throat hit. Did you ever looked at the expression people do while drawing? I'm a vaper myself but I have to recognize that I look like an drug addict getting his fix (not far from the truth) and we all probably are being labeled as such by the world that sees our glassed eyes looking into nowhere while we get that throat hit

I totally agree. I vape to stay off cigarettes and like nice stuff and good juice, but don't understand the cloud chasing, sub ohming. I also believe in being respectful in where and how i vape, and yes I have submitted my FDA comment! Come on people, Its so important to all of us!
I'm 19 years old and honestly I love getting huge clouds of vapor, but only at my house or a friends house where I KNOW its acceptable.
My set-up for when i'm at home or at a friends house is completely different than what I use when I'm working or out and about. If I'm at my house, hell I'll whip out my mech mod and RDA and do my best impression of a steam engine train.

Geez man. Sure... post that you hate alot of vapers on a vapers forum......or you could just get over yourself. That works too.

It is like people that take a harley and cover every inch with chrome and put big pipes on it to make it blow your brains out when they ride down the street... Or the doushe playing obnoxious music too loud on a 10,000 dollar sound system in their car with the windows rolled down next to you at a traffic light! Please don't despair! There are a lot of good vapers out there, and most of them live here! Like anything, it can be taken too far, but remember that what works for you may not work for me, and that's OK! I too see what you are talking about all the time, as I live near a university. Keep the faith, vape the way YOU want to, and enjoy! And remember, you have lots of friends here!!
