We have to stand together, tattooed or not, rightie or leftie, as we're the only ones who will. I fear that there will be regulation, whether the next POTUS is Clinton or Rand. My hope is that we will be allowed some say in how draconian that legislation will be.

Well said! Although I think even most Republicans will agree with my leftie liberal treehugging self when I say RAND PAUL? *SHUDDER*

WoW this feels like 1980 all over again. ThaT's when The finger poinTers were blaming all The smoking issues on pipes smokers and cigar smokers. Those darn cigar smokers blow Their huge clouds and cloud up The entire restaurant. If you want to blow clouds, blow clouds If you don't, don't just leave everybody else alone.
Most of the black eyes that vaping seems to get in the news media seems to come from ego batteries blowing up. so maybe we should in worrying more about the quality of our products. While I agree With you that people should be more considerate of others and not blow clouds indoors in public areas to say cloud chasing is bad is just ignorant.
When I AM at home or outdoors I love my rda on my mechanical. But out in puBlic I tend to go with a Vivi Nova on a spinner. Am i a hipster for an old fart? I I am so confused!

I'm 62 and have been vaping for 11/2 yrs. I switched to vaping to stop smoking and it has worked wonderfully for me. I see these type of post regularly ( older vapers getting down on younger vapers) it reminds me of when I was a member of the 18-22 age group. To be honest if I were that age today I would probably be doing the same things that are being complained about here. Not out of disrespect but rather because that's what young people do. At that age I felt invincible and wanted to test my limits and had little concern about tomorrow. I wanted to experience everything I could and pack as much joy into every day as I possibly could. Was I a member of the counter culture of my day, you bet I was. But, that doesn't make me a bad person and it doesn't make the youth today bad either. They are only trying to express who they are and find their own place in the world. It would be hypocritical of me or anyone else to deny the youth today the right to experiment and seek to find their own path. Will they make mistakes, yes. Will there be consequences, of course. But, that's what it takes to grow and mature.

People like you have been judging others and decrying the downfall of civilization since civilization began. The only thing that changes from year to year is the specific gripe. So my questions to you is the same question I would pose to anyone else. Why do you care SOOOOOO much?? Why does it bother you that someone uses something a different way than you do. why do you care about his/her clothes and unwashed hair? How does any of that effect you in any way? It doesn't. But it offends your sensibilities, so it's ok to pass judgement. Like I said, it's been happening since the beginning of time.
]

That judgment is there for a reason. Cicero said "The function of wisdom is to discriminate between good and evil".

That applies to a lesser degree to many other things in life.

You choosing not to to exercise your own judgement doesnt make you morally superior to the rest of us.

What it does is make people artificially stupid and that much easier to fool and confuse.

When youre tolerant of everything even atrocities seem reasonable by comparison.

An atrocity is day glo blue hot pants and fluorescent orange crocs with a bright pink crop top on a 300 pound man. (Bet you thought I was going to say woman. ;)

Big clouds, eh, less painful. The first I can't get out of my brain. Blech.

Pretty much everything new goes through bans, and panics and whatever. OMG, there are boys out there with hair past their collar! Today only young males have buzz cuts. Us old farts are expected to grow our hair out. (A practice I'm really not fond of in the summer. I still shave it in the late Spring, even if it makes me look like a dork.) There were even towns that banned long hair on boys. It was just a fad. Oh, how horrible, think of the children. Whatever.

One generation's rebellion and cheap thrill is the next's to rebel against. Vaping is rather unusual in the number of 'adults' who do it, but most justify it with, "Well, it's only for stopping smoking." and "It's still bad for you, just not as bad as smoking."

Me, I enjoy it. Simple enough. As long as the FDA fiddles and fusses around long enough, they simply won't politically be able to ban it. Particularly if it gets dragged out into the recovery from the current political swing. If vaping survives into the 20+ billion dollar industry it could well become, even the radical politicians will have a hard time killing it. That's a lot of jobs to be sacrificed to an ideal. The craft beer industry is over 60 billion a year now and is pretty much untouchable except by a reinstatement of the Volstead Act.

However, probably the best way to get the numbers and resilience to survive something like the Volstead Act or the Comstock Laws is to become common practice. If 50% or more of the populace have a vape on occasion, then it will be really, really hard to ban without either creating tremendous social upheaval or simple law avoidance. We're getting more and more laws on the books people simply ignore. If the FDA dawdles, which they may well do, they may put in place laws banning batteries and VG and nicotine and flavorings, but no one is going to obey them.

How many people pay any attention to old laws banning the driving of horseless carriages without a flagman out front to warn the nearby horses of its approach?

I'm going to be 60 on my next birthday and I feel much as you do. I liked your post very much!

Curt Cobain said " If you ever need anything... please don't hesitate to ask someone else first. I'm to busy acting like I'm not naive. I've seen it all. I was here first.

Michael Stipe said "It's the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine."

Mick Jagger said "Hey! You! Get off of my cloud!"

If you think blowing clouds and wearing skinny jeans is an atrocity worthy of the aforementioned Cicero quote, I'm not sure what we have to talk about.

Then again, Joseph Heller said " Just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not after you."

These are the kids who were going to start smoking in high school

Not entirely sure that is a logical conclusion. But it *might* be true.... not necessarily though. ;)

Many kids have been indoctrinated now about the dangers of smoking, and would probably not start. But they might vape precisely because it is considered *safe*. (er)

I always thought the Heller quote was "just because you're paranoid, doesn't mean they're not out to get you," so I checked and indeed you are correct!

My guess is YouTube vids about blowing clouds will make them want to vape more than anything...

The fact that you're quoting drug users and someone who took his own life speaks volumes about the merits of your arguments.

Oh wait......guess I wasnt supposed to judge them either.......

Must be nice going through life blissfully unaware.

OK I'm the OP, I posted this last week. I knew it would tee-off some of you. I read as many responses as I could, but not all of them.

Several points were made which I will address:

1. The post is divisive. Yah, I suppose it is. It's not meant to divide people though. Even republicans and democrats have divisions within their own party ok. A wide spectrum of views makes us stronger not weaker. There's strength in diverse numbers.

2. I'm not calling on the government to ban anyone from sub-ohm cloud chasing. I believe in individual freedom. I just think some of you could be more polite in public you know, on a VOLUNTARY basis And I think you could maybe tone down the constant overwhelming discussion of equipment in favor of the politics of keeping vaping legal at this crucial time. No one cares about your stupid .07 quad coil ok. Maybe you care about it but it's not going to matter to anyone if liquid nic gets banned or severely restricted.

3. The "old man yells at cloud" cartoon was hilarious.

4. Most people don't realize that to make tons of vapor all you need is the readily available, million purpose glycerin... they can ban everything they want but they can't ban batteries, resistive wires, cotton and glycerin so even if we all die craving for one last, soon to be forbidden, nicotine hit, the cloud chasers will still be around covering our dead bodies in haze and clouds of vapor :D

Surely a depressive picture but true... cloud chasers might be, in the eyes of some, bad publicity and giving vapers a bad name but... in the end... they are the ones that will survive any ban the FDA/EU will come up with... if you think about it, kinda like cockroaches and a atomic bomb... hum... ok... that was an unfair comparison (but funny hehehe).

Regards
Tony
