im talking about the mongs who are sub-ohming at .07 or similar, building octo-coils, and in general behaving like obnoxious children

I've never done that before, but I've wondered about it. I think I'm going to order a couple of cheap drippers and set them up a couple of different ways for 0.1 ohm vaping. 0.07 ohms is pushing it just a bit for me, as is octo-coils. I think I'll stick to three or a quad setup like Pbusardo did.

This is going to be great for the next time I feel like being an obnoxious child :thumb:

The thing that scares me when people build less than 0.5 ohms is calibration. Are people checking the calibration of their ohm metters somehow. It would be easy for these cheap ohm meters to be off a tenth or 2 of ohms. Due the ohm meters even have a calibration adjustment. I stick with my fluke DMM, they have a very good rep and I check calibration with 0.1% resistors.

I expressed my disgust with this practice in a thread "have you ever being chocked to death by vapor?"
And lost my ability to post in the newbie forum. Can reply, or edit. But not post. I won't retract though.
I'm with you 125%. I used to carry my mods in the open. Since that experience, I hide them. I'm ashamed.

I agree with the OP on most points. It seems like vaping has become a competitive sport in a way. Anyone with an internet connection and a bit of practice can build cloud chasing setups. I don't really mind the Cloud Chasing crowd, but there is a time and place for this type of activity.

Where I live it's rare to run into another vapor, and if I do it usually is an ego type setup. I love flavor and a good cloud as well, just don't think putting your life in danger for it is a wise thing to do.

I've mellowed in my middle age lol. If this was around in my early twenties I would probably be one of those obnoxious punks annoying everyone around me and wanting them to watch in awe at my cloud making abilities Ha Ha Ha....

The restrictions you experienced in the New Members Forum are because you reached 75 posts.

Hi there. I am going to give you my opinion. I read yours and understand your point, now please hear mine. I think people should be allowed to vape the way they want to vape free of persecution especially in their own community of vapors!! Let me explain something to you, I am FAR from a young pierced kid (sterotype) and I am NOT a cloud chaser!! Yet I do build nano coils and at this very moment, I'm vaping with a .7 sub ohm. Coil at 3.4 volts and 15.7 watts. Why because I like the flavor and warm vape. Now according to you, I shouldn't be able to enjoy this type of vaping because it is "excessive". Excessive by whose standards?? Yours? I am not blowin giant clouds and I am not bothering ANYONE. And for your information I shower daily. So please STOP the stero types and prejudice! ! We all are vapors and enjoy it the way we want to enjoy it. We should be sticking together not making division. And it's NOT because of the cloud chasing types that the FDA is coming down on our community. It's about money and power. So do not be so self righteous as to judge other people for what they perfer to vape...I smoked for 25 years and because of vaping I was able to free myself of that bondage. I don't nor does any one else need someone drawing lines and sterotypingredients them for their vaping style. Also just because I sub ohm does not mean I blow ridiculous clouds of vapor in people's faces. We are a community and should respect one another as such. Including our vaping styles. People should be able to vape the way they want without percussion or sterotype. We should all be respectful with our vaping, which I am. So please stop passing judgement on others because you don't know what a nano coil is. I respect your choices so please respect mine. We are one community. Stop drawing divisions.
i hear what your saying. i agree with with you in general.
the problem as i see it is not what we do within our community. at home at a vape lounge or, with fellow vapers at the local park presents no problem for me whatever way they vape.
at the same time surely you are not saying that when on a city bus,at a local bar or,at a crowded outdoor venue sub ohming would be appropriate or practical in every case.

its not the fact that there is sub ohming. i am sure its very enjoyable. the point is one could never achieve clouds like that when smoking real cigarettes and they can be distracting and annoying at certain times in certain places.
i think all anyone is is asking is some use of discretion and decorum.

regards
mike

Not into cloud chasing myself, I just vape instead of smoke lol.

But it got me thinking, aren't the people that like to push things to the extremes the ones who really drive innovation? I don't need an R&D team to improve my vaping, it does the job just fine. But the cloud chasers might, and I just might pick up some of the new coils/tanks/mods that come out of it.

I blame social media. Why you ask? Just look at all the youtube videos out there and like u said, Facebook groups, etc. Today's society has changed just in general, vaping aswell. Big time.

I compare it to 90's music. Music 'back then' was real. Fast forward to today's age, and it's all about who looks the best, who has the nicest dress, the most money, the 22 inch rims on the vehicles, the most twitter followers. It's crap. All of it. Nothing's real anymore. Technology, IMO, has ruined the IQ of people of today.

Sure makes a person wonder what society will be like 50 years from now...

And that seemed to me the perfect time for this:

I agree with some of it, not all. I don't think kids should be blowing big clouds in public, such as department stores, if you're gunna vape there, be discrete. Save the clouds for home or the lounge. I have two setups with me everywhere I go. One is a smaller coil at 1.4 ohms, the other is my cloud builds. People are gunna do what they do regardless what anyone says. But like stated before, not everyone builds sub ohm for clouds, I do but that's not all I vape either.

I`m right there with you buddy.

I think there should be an age qualification for vaping, something between 30 and 35. Its just like the 15 YO alcoholic, ya, right. Wait until you are a real alcoholic kids, before you want everyone to understand and cry with you.

Of course the age limit could be sent to comity. Maybe 27 works better for some, maybe 37 for others. But the kids, that just want to vape because its cool and you get to hold a shiny phallic object to your lips, wish these would just go away. They have already done serious damage to a community that I believe in my heart was originally intended for adults that just wanted to stop smoking.

Of course for all those goobers out there whoe`s hearts I just broke into pieces, I am so, so,,,,sorry.

Oh, and to, the sociologists, counselors, and the shrinks, I don`t GAS.

Ahh, they told me to be wary of brutal honesty, LOL.

I agree but ya know, I may be a bit older than you, and we were saying that in the 90's about music of a few decades before.

Also agree that for all the smart phones around these days, a whole lot of people using them seem pretty dumb. So much of many young identities are bound to and invested in mobile devices, you take them away and they behave like a Borg removed from the Collective.

Big business own radio stations and in turn give air time to their own labels for the most part,
But in EU, many clubs and many of the biggest festivals are full of artists representing "underground" labels,
These sub genres, specially in the electronic scene, often rise up and educate the masses...
These same genre's do not have a face or any "look", people simply judge the music...nothing else.
