Thanks, here are some of the m1.6 nuts from Ace Hardware:

And in this pic are the two on the left I "processed"

I simply bought 1 m1.6 bolt and locked two nuts against each other and ground them on my dremel.
So now they are beveled and round :) And here is a size comparison:

So Dan, you would still use the spring on these right? I assume the ID is sufficient to still slide freely on the nails?

Yes, the m1.6 floats free on the nails... This is a pic I posted in the other thread. The nuts haven't been ground yet, but that's the same wire nail.

hey Dan, On the positive post...is it tight in the 1/8 hole using the pen tube? i would hate for it to fall out or come loose. Just asking to see if I need to go the threaded rod route. If I did, I would just grind the rod smooth leaving just enough thread on the bottom for the hole, and just enough at the top for one nut.

Just curious.

EDIT: nevermind....if I threaded the hole it would be too large of a diameter for the spring anyway..

Awesomeness! Just out of curiosity damn what is it u do for a living if u dont mind me asking?

I find the innovative modders like u guys inspiring. Its inspired me to to try and invent things myself. Doing electrical work isn't too gratifying for me anymore, I mean everything I do is eventually covered by a big ugly slab of sheet rock

I am an IT Manager at Fort Rucker Alabama. My dad was a tool and die guy who used to work for CAT. I got all his old stuff or my Grandfathers stuff he fixed up and passed to me.

You should be good with a dremel, channel locks or needle nose pliers, butane torch, soldering iron and supplies, and if you can swing it...a set of "helping hands" from radio shack make the soldering much easier. Oh and something to use to press the atty connector in......like a socket or a 801-901/510 adapter (adapter works great). I'm sure I'm forgetting something, but that should be pretty close. And a bic pen....for the tubing to use on the positive post.

For this project, would I be good with just a dremel and a plethora of hand tools? Don't need a drill press lathe or anything do I? I don't have the dremel yet, but I was thinking of getting one I saw on craigslist that came with a dremel drill press.

Well the minimum tools you will need is a dremel or hand file to do the nuts (Dremel is faster), and a soldering iron for the wiring, and a small pipe cutter for the poly tubing for clean straight cuts.

Edit...

LOL Riddle beat me...
OK Ok Ill show... I used a 510 to 801 (old connector I had) to tap in the atty connector of my..... wait for it....

SCUBAGENv3 "XL" Provari mod! Tada! Little longer than the standard one and fits perfect on the ProVari.

Ft. Rucker! That brings back memories, was discharged from there 40 years ago! Stayed in some old wooden barracks
in a section called 'tank hill'. Spent some time after in Enterprise (home of the 'bowl weavel' statue) at the junior college.
The IBM 360 had just come out....

No wooden barracks left, all brick buildings. I was here in 81 for AIT and I know what your talking about wooden barracks. Tank hill is still here, as is that dang boll weevil statue! LOL

I just got through wiring up my first mesh wick, I bought two sheets from the mesh company got 4. I got 3.1 ohm resistance on the wrap around semi soldered it onto the enameled wires... Its a nice clean taste! 6volts and around 3.1ohm is a nice vape no burnt taste yet and the wick seems to be keeping up so far. Cant wait to try it on the scuba set up.

I'm going to have to find better solder but cos like people have said its hard to get the the wires to solder.

Cool. My grandfather was a carpenter and bridge builder. Navy cb in WW2. He passed a month after I was born, still finding out to this day uses for all the old tools he left. His legacy lives on, I feel privelaged to have access to an old (manual) drill coolest thing ever (probably the biggest PIA back then)

:-$34.29 2 Sheets of SS Mesh A4 size. Price includes shipping.
$6.50 75' roll of Kanthal. Price includes shipping.
$4.29 Pack of 25 O-Rings.*
$2.52 1 foot of polycarbonate tubing - enough for 4 (2 pieces each).*

*Shipping for the O-Rings & Tubing should be only @ $5.00.

This does not include a CE2 for the atty connector or the other material needed like the nuts for the springs, solder...

Summary:

About $29.00 for 1 sheet of mesh plus the rest listed above = < $50.00

(I had to break my 2 sheet purchase down and do a currency conversion to come up with the $29.00 estimate for 1 sheet)

When you purchase from The Mesh Company you get an extra sheet of mesh for every sheet you purchase for free. So my total cost for a 2 sheet purchase, which I should receive 4 sheets is about $8.60 per sheet.

To save on shipping and spend less money on the mesh, and if you only want one piece of mesh, you can purchase a 12"x12" sheet of 304 SS Woven Wire Cloth for $20.58 from McMaster-Carr. I believe this wire mesh has the same spec's as the wire mesh I purchased from The Mesh Company.

Summary:

The Kanthal is $6.50 shipped, purchasing the Polycarbonate Tubing, O-Rings and single sheet of Wire Mesh from McMaster-Carr the total would be < $40.00 shipped.

I Now see why so few have signed up for the coop - I also don't think I 'm getting a great price from Chris - certainly not an "at the gate price"

Here is a link to the above referenced post

Here is a link to a potential Co-Op... http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/modders-forum/193341-wire-mesh-poly-carbonate-tubing-possible-coop-genisis-build.html#post3345409 that I believe is down to just a possible Co-Op for the wire mesh.

However, I feel a Co-Op is not worth it for me. :2c:

For about $50.00 you can get the rest of what is needed.

I just wanted to post this here to provide the link to the 304 SS Woven Wire Cloth available from McMaster-Carr, along with a link to the original post.
