Ok, checked the videos. Daniel suspects that there's no balance charging, but he's not sure. The rest of the videos show faulty/broken Rx200s, most with the same battery problem, but none of them demonstrate anything whatsoever about balance charging or lack thereof. Also, with a device this popular there are bound to be faulty ones. Nothing thus far shows that there's a uncharacteristically high percentage of faulty units. I'm not defending the rx, just saying that the claims made really don't have much substance thus far.

PS. Loved the idiot who used three different batteries in the mod...

We know the problem, Im looking for a quick fix. I mean i know they're cheep and I like the fact that they are. Thats the reason I just pick up another one,.

The problem is before I make the modifications on the old box to re- chip it the tinkering part of me wants to experiment with the board and try to find out whats causing the failure and if it can be fixed easily..

I've seen so many videos online with talk about the batteries, the usb, the wire gage etc. Not one video with a possible diy fix...[emoji16]

Has anyone tried to repair there own box after getting the irreversible check battery error?
You know the one that dosnt charge or fire even when putting in freshly charged batteries, that one!

Yes I thought that was rich.

Someone told me that the RX200 only charges up to 12.30v in series. I have been meaning to test this myself. As if you are not charging by balancing, I would hate it if they charged three x 4.20v to 12.60v. Because that would mean if one is low, another one would charge over 4.20v. I did test lightly with USB charging, but I didn't do a lot of it and I personally didn't see anything disturbing. But I need to do a lot more testing yet.

I haven't heard anybody getting theirs going yet. I have been asking what firmware and what hardware versions this happens on. And so far not one has responded.

I just tried to chain vape as much as I could at 39W. After like 2 minutes (25+ puffs) was giving me "Device too hot". The 10 click temp check after the message was 69. But don't think I will ever vape like this in real life ussage. So mine is faulty? :-/

Nope! That is 69°C. It shuts down at 70°C. It is doing what it is suppose to do.

I tried again the griffin on the vtc mini and can't go above 44 Celsius in 10 click check. Maybe the rx200 gets hotter faster because it has 3 batteries?

Did you mention the software (firmware) version you are running yet? As v1.08 and earlier would get really hot at lower wattages for sure. I don't know about the upper wattages. Even at 10 watts chaining it would feel hot. But with v3.x that is all gone and it runs cool now.

The rx200 is on 3.0.

Ok... you probably wouldn't know this until you connected with the UpdateWismec program. You don't have to update or anything, but it will report both the firmware and hardware version. I heard of hardware version 1.0. My two are hardware version 1.04. And I think one said theirs was 1.07.

I put one of mine on usb charging right now. All three batteries were at 3.65v initially (on my Opus btc3100). Of course, even if they're perfectly even when I take them of the usb that doesn't in any way prove that the rx has balance charging. In any case, I have no intention to test this. I basically never use usb charging as I carry enough spares (not that I really need spares with the rx unless I'm on the go for a long, long time).

No, it simply means that the device is too hot due to chain vaping.

The rx200 is on 3.0.

Is it safe to downgrade? I'm thinking to downgrade to 1.08 and then upgrade again to 3 or 3.1. Could something change?
You don't need to downgrade. You can simply reinstall the current firmware if you wish.

Ok. Now is on 3.1 firmware.
147 is the maximum. Actually 147.3. Wasn't supposed to be 250 max?

If you remove your atty, it should go to 250 watts. Why it won't let you go over 147 is because of your ohms. Notice in your pic you maxed out the voltage at 9.0v. That is the max the RX can put out. To get more watts, you have to lower your ohms.

Took the rx of usb charging as I need to head out for a while. All three batteries were at 3.78v. Of course, the only thing that shows is that the rx charges the batteries equally much. As long as it discharges the batteries evenly (as both of mine do) that should be enough though. Or am I wrong? I still wouldn't recommend charging in any mod though, and in a three-battery mod like the rx200 it's painfully slow. Almost like using a Nitecore charger ;-)

Ok, we already know that the on board charging balancing chip on Rx200 doesn't work as it should.
We already know that charging the RX200 via the usb isnt recommended becsuse of all the damaged mods out there with the un-fixable check battery error.

What we dont know is if we can use a jumper wire from the board to the usb battery in (-) and out (+) contacts to fix it.

Its just an idea i have because of the wiring setup of the dna200's usb. I wonder if jumping a wire or fuse to the boards usb would work.... Idk just thinking out loud... Dr. Freaking-Rx-stien!

I took a pulse probe and checked the usb + and - on a dead Rx200 with the check batt error. I didnt get a low signal when I touched the neg wire contact on the usb but I did when I touched every other neg contact on the board.

Can we rewire the board to by pass the usb connection on the board or can we bridge the + or - usb pads?
Ok lets hear it...
I've been USB charging since I opened the mod on Dec25. Not a single issue, and the batteries are usually within 0.05 of each other.
