I bought the rx200 as my first TC device and was going to get the segelei fuchai but got this for the TI support and third battery design.

I got it friday and used it all weekend in power mode with dual claptons in my aromamizer and it was great.

Tonight.....Wanting to try Titanium I made dual 10 wrap 3mm ID coils, lightly spaced and pulsed in at 8W in power mode. They were .25ohm and working fine. Switched to Ti mode. I then let them cool down and locked in the resistance, wicked them, and put the tank together and the mod just hits temp protection everytime.
I can set it at 200f or 600f....temp protection everytime.

Spent past 3 hours building TI coils and same temp protection issue. As soon as you hit the button it goes into temp protection.
Ive made sure there were no shorts, spread my coils, etc
I even updated firmware on the device to 1.07 and no changes.

What am I missing here?
Ive read to make sure wicks are saturated so slathered them well....same temp protection.
Kind of bummed out, I felt like I was missing out and just been using my reo for the last couple years. I wanted to switch it up and try TC.
Im at the point where I give up. The aromamizer is great with dual vertical claptons and thats what I have back in there. I feel like its a waste of time to even try TC again.

Am I the only one with this issue?
"Temp Protected" just means that it is up to the temp you have set it at and it is holding it there while you fire. Perfectly normal, that's how it is supposed to work.

^^^^^^^i know that the dna 200 board draws no more than 23 amps on the input side because of the buck converter design. so the 3000 mah lg hg2's (i run them in my dna reuleaux) would have a higher capacity than the vtc4 and also would be just as safe to run. im guessing the joytech board specs are similar to evolv's. if anyone has any info on the board (technical data) feel free to post it.

The lack of clear, detailed and precise language used by the store owner is frustrating. Only these few wishy-washy words were used to describe the actual incident in its entirety:

"...went to remove the cover and it blew."

So the guy "went to," as in, was about to, but didn't open the cover? It just happened to blow right at that time as a complete coincidence? (This stretches the imagination.)

Or, "went to," and did open the cover, but no batteries were touched? If so, by how much? Just partially, or did he manage to get it completely off? Did it blow immediately? How long until it blew? (This also stretches the imagination.)

Did he open the cover and grab a battery, but not move it (because it blew before he had a chance)?

Did he open the cover, grab a battery and move it slightly?

Was it fired during this time?

Did anything arc, or pop? Did it just violently start venting? What did the batteries look like?

What do you think happened?

I ask as I just bought a RX200 and don't want to do anything stupid due to my being a relative newbie.

I'm not sure what happened. However I'll recommend some things you can do to make you as safe as possible.
1. Use high quality, married batteries
2. Inspect them to make sure the wraps don't have any tears in them.
3. Be careful inserting them. I mean observe proper polarity (put them in the right way).

That's mainly what you can control on the mod end.

Cheers,
Steve

Edit @BreSha6869 I want to add something about the batteries. I use Samsung 25r's, I've never had an issue. I'm not telling you to use them or that they are the best, just a solid choice. There are a few other really good choices out there as well. If you have any questions, this forum has a very informative section that deals with batteries and chargers located here. The main thing is, common sense goes a long way towards preventing unfortunate accidents. Hope you enjoy your new mod!

also in series, amps are split as you have a higher voltage available. So 25R are super safe. Even 30q IMHO but lets keep it super safe ;)
200w at 9.6v (assuming that's the cutoff voltage), at 90% device efficiency, draws 23.15 amps. That's from each battery. That exceeds the amp limit of the Samsung 25r, 30q, LG hg2 etc, and is why I recommended to get Sony vtc4s if one wants to go over 180w. Sure, the 25r can probably handle it, but I'll never advice anyone to exceed the cdr of batteries.

No idea

What ever went on in that shop stinks ... they are hiding something but doubt we'll ever know

It has been rumoured that the shop were tasked with upgrading the wiring , but someone also mentioned the world is not flat and is round

I would not worry though, have one on route meself

Good high drain married batteries and observe they are discharging at the same rate and all should be good

BTW I ordered Sammy 25r for mine as I may venture to 120w once but its about extended battery life for me as a work mod

I'll wait for a better quality sleeve from this seller - directconnectionco | eBay
They have best quality, thick, minimal seal line & good selection.
I got the sleeves for my IPV3 Li from them.
It was impressive enough that I tried their sleeves for 3 other mods and got 2 more for the Li.

Those SlowTech sleeves look like factory rejects - visible seal line excess from the mold and way too thin.
They might be the only thing available now but by the time the slow boat delivers it they'll be last months news.

I asked Valentino Villa on Facebook about making sleeves for our mods.
He makes affordable, custom leather sleeves for a selection of popular mods.
Anyone speak Italian? Something's lost in translation but I think he meant that he's working on them this week or maybe releasing them this week. He calls leather sleeves for mods "bags".

M - "Will you be making bags for the Wismec RX200 & DNA200?"
V - "week realization bag"

Thanks for posting the link to the other sleeves. Yeah, the seam running down the center is unfortunate. I don't mind them being thin.

I ordered a couple because they're so darn cheap.

My 2 blacked-out RX200s just arrived an hour ago! So far, so good (starting out simple: driving a Triton tank beautifully; .41 SS single vertical coil, 35 watts, 420F).

Will post a mini review once I get some, you know, actual work done today. :)

But I will say the fit and finish exceeded my expectations and doesn't do the photos justice. It has to be held in one's own hand to fully appreciate.
