Ok the only other tc device I have is an ipv3li, and they do work differently. I have a dual coil 30g ni coil at .1 in my crius. Currently the rx is set to 60w and 540f. When I take a draw I seem to get less of a pulse and more of a pause. Temp protect will pop on the display during the pause which on a decent draw is noticeable. Is it just me or am I just being too sensitive. Generally I love my rx but for some reason this pause bugs me.
Anyone else experienced this?
For those not familiar the 3li uses joules and seems the pulse doesn't pause like this.
The same thing happens to me on my DNA40s, DNA200s and Snow Wolf when the temperature setting and power level setting are not well matched.
Try lowering the wattage to more closely match where the temp control is delivering its mean-wattage.
I find that limiting the wattage setting to only about 2 to 5 watts of "headroom" above where the TC is averaging (in watts), gives the smoothest vape with no peaks and valleys.
That's one thing I love about the DNA200, you can custom configure the screen to display "Last Power" (mean-wattage), and see that a temperature protected vape would be hitting, at, say, 22.5 mean-watts (average wattage over the duration of the puff).
Knowing this, you can then set the wattage limit to around 25 watts (in this example) and it will eliminate the gaps / pauses that happen when it would otherwise get too hot, too fast, then cut out for a bit, ramp up again, get too hot, cut out, etc.
It happens even more aggressively and noticeably with higher wattage devices, because they ramp up faster and have less battery sag.
