The pipe was installed over 8 years ago when we did the upstairs and added a full bathroom. All work done was inspected by the city and passed. Never had a problem so we are sure it was from freezing. DH and plumber friend did not mention any corrosion and that is a word I would have picked up on. We had an industrial big fan blowing across that area and a regular people type fan blowing in another area for 3 days straight so I think we got it dried out. The hardwood was dry. It is buckling now. Looks like that is happening everywhere there was water. We mopped up pretty quick so the water was not there for many hours.

Shari,

Put a fan (or fans) blowing across the floor to dry them out. That should stop the floor from warping any further.

One piece vs. 2 pieces shouldn't really make a difference as long as the job is done correctly. Did the pipe burst from freezing, or corrosion? (If the flux isn't cleaned off after soldering, or too much was used inside that will cause the joints to corrode).

That's one of the reasons (besides cost) they're starting to use plastic pipes a lot more nowadays.....

Thank you Claudia. It was cool. It looked like we may have had about 100 people at one point. Hard to tell. They kept moving around so I gave up trying to count.

If you really want to go to that semi local meet I will drive your way and go with you. It is up to you. Think about it. Let me know down the road apiece when the date is closer.

How cool was that. For the cotton balls buy Walgreen's organic cotton balls, the others are bleached and leave residual taste if you don't boil them first. For micro coils use 28g Kanthal wire.
Now with this said I have not wrapped a coil yet and changed my first one last night. The guy who sent me the jig he made also sent two micro coils he had made and I used one of those. On your ProVari put the head without the tank on it and press the button 13 times, Ao will show up on the screen and then the Ohms of the coil. You can reliably use this to measure the resistance of your coils. Don't give up on making coils so easily, no one gets it right the first time. Rather than a regular lighted magnifying glass most use a head band thingy, I wish I knew what to call it, I have one for my craft stuff and it has different lenses that change out easily, it's great. To even wick I had to give up on the squared off nails and go back to rounded, I have long nails too.

At the last semi local meet of Scenic City Vapers there were nearly 400 people, yikes, and the next one they expect more and have had to get a ballroom to be able to hold everyone. PBusardo himself is going to be there, it would be fun to go but I won't be able to, it is unlikely that I will ever get to one.

Reflection on the weekend...

Saturday, 4-5 analogs. I kinda lost count because we were homebrewing beer and my brother-in-law goes from "if I feel like it" to almost 1 PAD. More like 3/4. I bummed from time to time.

Fast forward to today...with the exception of visiting 2 B&Ms, I've been hanging around the house. Total analog count....

ZERO!!!

Been tooting away on my new mod and rotating clearomizers/juices. I haven't even wanted a "stinkie"! :)

The pipe has already been fixed by replacing it with one long piece of copper pipe. A plumber we know did the fix and DH supervised so I believe it will be good to go. We do still have the burst piece of pipe and insurance company did tell us to show it to the adjuster.

Shari you always want to use a minimum amount of joints when running copper pipe however a "properly" soldered lap joint should be as strong as the pipe anyway. Since they stopped using tin/lead solder in the 80's the newer solders are quite strong and reliable. If the joint was done right odds are if it wasn't there the pipe would have burst or split anyway. Did you save the piece with the break? Insurance company may want to see it ;)
If your worried it may happen again consider replacing it with pex

A lot of the Aspires start to give a nasty burnt taste way too soon, I had that happen and tried something that worked. When that happened I started puffing like crazy, like trying to hot box a smoke only even harder, did that for a few puffs and waited a minute or so and tried to vape again. Viola problem solved and I've been using the same heads for weeks now without a problem. People thought they had sent out a huge shipment of bad heads but this solved it for me.

I'm pretty much a home body so I'm not out a lot, but that should change after March when they start racing again, hopefully Cliff will have the car rebuilt sooner than he did last year.

I'm unimpressed with the avialability of tanks overall. Out and about is 90% of the time for me. If it's not ready to go, I won't vape. That's one of my biggest hang ups. Well, after it needs to look nice enough to pick up.

I haven't tried the Davide. I just can't picture being inspired by the aspires. I could be wrong. I've viewed videos on rebuilding them and comments weren't positive. I don't know why they'd work all that much better. The davide BDC is close to $25 from what I can tell. That's not chump change. I'd like to have some reason why they are better before getting one. When they first came out everyone said they were so great I grabbed some coils that were cheap for them but now don't have a tank for them. That feels stupid. Then I took a closer look and it's not adding up in my brain.

The hypertank I liked. I've got one more coming within the week I hope but it's VERY heavy and hard to carry. I find I'm leaving it behind. I think my shoulder is getting a permanent dent from hauling heavy mods around in my bag all the time. I go back and forth on that.

I'm frustrated enough to go back to Vision Novas. Cheap and work. I can adjust flavors to suit the tank I'm using so I don't feel I'm missing out there. It's finding the right balance and a dripper is not it for me. Just the thought of carrying an eliquid in my bag is asking for disaster to happen.

I bought parts to a protank and fiddled 5 min with it. I couldn't even put the thing together. Haven't played with it since. I'm sure I'll figure it out - eventually. But I do need ready to go. It feels like manufacturer are on this trend and they are forgetting everything else now.

I'm rambling.

A lot of people recommend the Igo-L to start with, but with that one you have to wrap the wire ends around the posts and screw down the screw which can be difficult. I got the Trident Clone which is a dual coil setup and has multiple air hole options, you can use just one coil with no problem you just move the air hold near the coil, with the other dual coil RDA's you also have to plug one of the holes to use just one or you get too much air, they say put a piece of metal tape over it. The trident has slots you put the wires in and tighten the screws, it's pretty easy compared to wrapping it around the post. One thing about the tridents is they are hard to get apart at first, way way tight.

All that said I really like mine now that I am getting used to it. Oh and if you get any of them wash before using or it will taste nasty, I washed all of mine, pulled out the wicks that were in it and made new ones from organic cotton, I did use the coils that were in it for a couple of weeks though, just pulled them out last night and replaced with a single micro coil.

I have countless bottles of juices, many of which I've given away, but it seems there's always more to take their place. I only have 3 or 4 that I can vape for longer periods of time, but even those get boring after a while.

I have no experience with RDAs or RBAs. Which would you suggest to try for a beginner with those? I'm not even sure of the difference between them.

I have seen those too. Just do not know anything about them. I will have to look around and see if there is any reviews on those. I would not use something like that on the Russian 91% I am getting. Think I would want better wire and build so I am going to learn how to coil anyhows.

I do have to find where I can learn the differences in the regular coils and micro coils and gauges of wire. Think I am going to have to tackle that 6500 post micro coil thread. Been hesitant to dip my toe in those waters. Hundreds of pages of stuff over my head. Oh boy.

I put an aluminum drip tip on my 510 atty just now. Don't think I like the feel and I think it was getting hot??? Will use it for a while. First time using one. I have been using plastic or the delrin, which I like. I bought a glass hand blown drip tip at the meet yesterday. Saving it for when I get the grown up RBA.

Can't you use premade coils? I've run into conversations about ppl using FT coils and those are 50-100 for $3 or $5. Insanely cheap. All they do is install???

Yup. I know nuthing bout this.

I really appreciate the offer but I'm not ready to deal with that kind of a crowd and with PBusardo I'm sure there will be even more than the 380 they had last time. I don't do crowds well at all.

Why is NR-R-NR wire good? Why not use the roll of 28, 30, 32 gauge kanthal? What is the difference?

I am confused. I seem to be spending a lot of time in that state lately...

FT does have pre-made NR-R-NR wires that I'm going to try (wires, not coils). At the price it's hard to argue not giving them a go.

Claudia, although I understand your position, FT has actually gotten a lot better. They now ship batteries through a different, legal carrier, and the shipping delays and stranded packages (caused by HK Post) do seem to be a thing of the past. I do order a lot of stuff from them and although occasionally you get crap, most of it is good stuff cheap IMHO. YMMV

All I know about NR-R-NR is that most of the popular RDAs and RBAs don't use that kind, but I think the Ithaka might. That is advanced stuff, beyond my pay grade. LOL

Most I read that flavor is good to go. Some of their flavors people are steeping. Six months ago when I spoke to one of the main people there, the tobaccos would do good with a week or so steep. Taste the Type M. It is so ashy to me that what comes out early is probably mild. I just gave my bottle to a new vaper at the meet last night and I tasted it at 5 and a half months old. I had 4 people taste it. All said that it is a cigarette. They felt it at the back of their tongues, throat, and mouth feel after vaping it.

It did win a 5 stars from Spinfuel. No one liked it for adv but all reviewers said for a cigarette taste it was the best out there. I now find it too much like a cigarette and can not vape it. It is hanging in my atty too, which is a bummer for me. But in those first couple of months it was a life saver for me during cravings or mind over matter moments. As you can see, I kept my bottle for a full 6 months before I passed what I had left on to a newbie Marlboro smoker/vaper.

Ah, good morning.

Don't have much to add except I got a couple of those cheep pretty mech mods from FT that don't seem like the would break and they did. So that's how I ended up getting the Provari. I got tired of constantly replacing my equipment.

Shari, I got some type M from the Plume Room because it was on sale. Do I need to let that steep or should it be good to go right out of the package?

Yes, mdw, it is correct. I have a couple of them that I have to use on my MVP2 to use my Evods. Found that out after I got the device. Supposedly it is not all of the MVP2s that you have to do this with. That is why you will read people saying yes you need the adapter and then 2 posts down someone else saying, oh I do not use an adapter.

It is the center pin on the MVP2 that is set lower than most other mods. There are other toppers that people talk about having to pull the pins down on the topper to get it to work. The adapter works perfect for me and several other people I know of.

There is a similar type problem with some RBAs and cartotanks and the Provari I have read about. Everyone says if you are going to pull a pin up to do it on the topper so you do not weaken the pin on your device.

Just for your info, I have to use a 510 to 510 adapter to use my 510 attys with a drip shield. Lots of little surprises and adaptations in the vaping world.

YIKES, Aikanae, you just HAD to mention that, didn't you!!!?? Share the DOOM!

But speaking of Protanks, of which I have a small supply because I decided I never wanted to worry about juice flavors cracking tanks (tho I've still loaded some of the "forbidden" ones into plastic tanks and so far no disasters) ... My stable of PVs is now mostly MVP2.0s 'cause I like them and they do the job. And my Protank IIs absolutely LEAK on them. I was devastated.

THEN last night I saw on a thread somewhere that MVPs are "notorious" for having a low pin connector (I think that's the right term), and that one should use a 510-Ego adaptor on MVP2.0s when using Protanks on them.

Does everyone else with experience already know this, and was it just me stumbling upon one of those key basic facts?

I hope it's correct though because I ordered the adaptors, along with a ton of dripping items, last night. <groan> says my credit card!

Jman, I'd really hate to see vaping lumped in with smoking and regarded as the same thing. It's like we traded one stigma for another in the eyes of non-smokers. Can't win for losing sometimes.

That is exactly how I feel. And I'm still blown away by how smokers (and soon to be vapes if many have their say!) are not only treated like pariah, but how it seems to be alright in today's society to look the other way when their rights are stomped on. There are landlords that refuse to rent to smokers, businesses that refuse to hire smokers, insurance rates are higher. Personally, I'm tired of being treated like a second-hand citizen and I'm not going to be a nice, compliant sheep and be treated like one when vaping.

I have a different perspective on FT. I think they are getting messed with. Batteries in devices illegal (egos)? That would mean all cell phones, laptops, tablets, mp3 players, etc are also "illegal". FT has been in biz less than 2 years. Too successful, too fast for someone's comfort. But then I don't agree with the principle of MAP's either. I can't afford not to wait.

I can't really afford not to wait either. And, I've had pretty good luck with FT. I've had multiple orders with them, and I've had a dud battery and a couple of clearo that didn't last as long as I'd like ... other than that I've been more than satisfied with them and the quality of what I've been buying. I like to support local (and USA) too, but I just can't justify spending 3 to 5 times as much when it's the same product. I spend my local and USA dollars buying juices.

If my child was old enough to know what he was doing and have consistency while being safe I would use him for coils. Probably a bowl of ice cream for a few coils. Lol

The closest Vape shop to my home has people that teach you to do coils. They explain about the different gauges of wire and what to use with what. I just haven't had the money to pay for the materials. It isn't expensive accept I still don't have the RBA. So, I am waiting.

I don't know for sure about any of it, but my logic tells me that the thinner the wire the hotter it gets and the tighter the coil you can make. the thicker wire would give you are cooler vape and less tight coil. I could be totally off on this.

I will probably buy 1 set of the premade coils from Fasttech. Just to see if I can get the coil on the octopus and squid. if I achieve success with that and I am able to vape with them. I will continue that journey. If not, I will stick to what I am familiar with.

I am having a lot of dead coils today, all at once. Just one of those days.

NR~R~NR keeps the heat on your coil not elsewhere in the atomizer - and sometimes that counts (not in the Russian 91% or kayfuns and others) but in the rba / rda that have the wire run along and in a ceramic - causes brittleness in the ceramic and could melt insulators at the post - which is inserted in the bottom of the ceramic cup.
