Lol thanks...it didn't come up in my Google fu results...Just kept getting version 1.1 the whole thing...Thanks again
Hey guys, I'm having some serious flavour problems and was wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
I got my Goblin (v1.2) about a month ago, and my second build had amazing flavour, exactly what I'd expect from a dual coil tank, but every build since then has been flat and flavourless and I can't figure out why.
I've tried everything, .2 with 22 guage, .7 with twisted 28 guage, and most things in between, tried 3 different kinds of cotton and various amounts of cotton in the juice channels and on the deck, it just won't taste of anything, and this was confirmed by a friend who said it tastes of nothing and my girlfriend who says my clouds don't smell of anything when they usually do, I just can't figure it out!
i've been thinking of picking up a goblin, but i got a couple question.
1. what the difference between the v1.1 and v1.2?
2. how well does it handle high to 100% vg juices?
3. what the current preferred method of wicking? as in is it better to stuff into the channels then put on the chimney on or bunny ear the wick then stuff it down after the low chimney is on? (does it just depend on the pg/vg ratio) ( yes i'll be using cotton, cotton bacon to be precise.)
The insulator can melt from the heat, but it's not sitting in juice, so it's not really the same thing. Tank setup is completely different.I'm having flavor problems with the goblin, very muted flavor or even a weird metallic taste. I cleaned this thing really good with boiling water and isopropyl so I'm not sure what's causing the metal flavor, coils too close to chimney? No way to avoid that with this thing lol. Wicking is perfect, vapor is impressive, but for flavor it's sooooo far behind my subtank, a little disappointment in that regard. Also I hear the goblin insulator is a repeat of the subtank, melting in peoples juice, and from what I can see there are no upgrades for it yet.

1 - as far as I can tell there is no difference. Different vendors are calling it different things. Some even call it v2.
2 - wicked properly, it handles high VG juices like a champ.
3 - there are a few different methods, but everyone here can agree that LESS IS MORE when it comes to the wick. I only put about 2mm of wick into the channels, and it doesn't leak or dry hit on me. Too much wick will cut off air flow, and too little has a chance of leaking. Gotta find a good balance, but once you do it's easy to replicate the results. I tuck before the lower chimney is on, and clean up around the coils after it is on. I always put the chimney on and test the airflow before wetting/assembling/filling. Learned that the hard way.
If you are considering picking one up, I would say do it. My drippers hate me right now. Haven't given them attention in a month.

On the leaking fill screw, just about anything from an o-ring, to teflon tape, to wrapping the dang thing in cotton can fix the leak.( I know, I did it. Cotton worked great.)
On the naming, Youde calls it the v1.2, so that's likely the proper naming convention.
