24g Nichrome gets crazy low and in a hurry when making duals, make sure you got some 30amp batteries ready or atleast en route with your wire. Enjoy it though and get ready for the heat

what he said^^

18mg nic chokes you on any of my latest builds
Right on. I do have a 30A on the way but it's efest and I wasn't planning on going over 20A with it. My mnkes can handle up to 20 but I'm more comfortable with maybe 15 or 16. So I don't plan to go below 0.4 maybe 0.3 ohm at the lowest. I'm prepared for the heat. Bring it on! I'm used to the hot smoke.

Mainly what I'm trying to do is see if I can lower my nic%. I've gone from 24 to 18 in two years- sometimes I can get away with 12 but rarely. I think with a few nice sub builds I can do 12 easily. I am well stocked on 18 so that's concerning but then again I do like the extra buzz as it was mentioned earlier.

too much heat needs more air :)

I dig big air holes. I like dual 5/64" but wouldn't mind it a bit larger if I needed it. My only problem is bumming drills off of people

Well your also correct in your prev. post. Depends if your a "hobby" vapor ( like basically we all are, or we wouldn't be in this section) ( let's be real) Based on analogs, were taking on ample amounts of product into our lungs compared to cigs! Question is? Is it ok? I don't want to get too in depth and kill buzz but heat and lungs = bad

Big air holes solve the heat problem! Ive got a .28 dual and its a pretty cool vape, i think mostly because of the 1/8th airholes and how low i keep my coils in the well. Thats my favorite part of micros! Such easy adjustments to builds to get the perfect vape without having to rebuild over and over again. And i have also always wondered about the amount of vapor entering the lungs.... Anyways lol

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody!!!

This thread introduced me to micro coils and cotton wicks, and I am forever grateful to all of you. Now because of this thread I just purchased a Reo Grand and a RM2. Any tips or tricks anyone would be willing share on setting up the Reo and the RM2 or is it pretty straight forward? It should arrive on Monday. I know about the Reo thread and I will be reading that over the next few days, but I trust the Reo users in this thread and that is why I am asking here.

Appreciate the help!

Steve

I have a bunch of rebuildables on their way and will be trying my hand tonight. I have 28g, 30g and 32g kenthal to work with. I don't want sub ohm, looking for around 1.5-2. I'm looking for a rule of thumb to start with. If I start with 30g and do 10 wraps and it is say 1 ohm ( just an example) do I add more wraps or decrease wraps to increase the ohms higher? I will be using cotton for wicks. I have rewicked Pr tanks coils so I have a feel for how much cotton to use, but un sure if adding or deceasing wraps increases or decreases resistance? This will be on a Kayfun 3.1 clone.

first try at any coil. Got about twice the resistance I was expecting from what I read on another forum, but I'm still pretty proud of myself.
gonna try again later for lower. This is 3ohms and i wanted closer to 1.3.

My experience has shown that 30ga kanthal wrapped on a 16ga needled yields 2.2 ohms with 10 or 11 wraps. To increase resistance add more wraps, to decrease fewer wraps. 28ga kanthal on 16 ga needle yields about 1 ohm with 10 wraps.

Great to hear!
I've said it before, but getting my Reo Grand & RM2 was the best vaping decision I have made.
The RM2 is pretty straight forward, put a micro in it with cotton lined up with the air hole and it works.
Easy to drill out the air hole, so go easy if you do.
If you are a sub ohmer don't go below about .8 ohm without the upcoming sub ohm update or go to the Reo forum and look for the fuse mod and the brass firing pin mod.
Also use the AW 1600mah battery.
I really like the derlin button cover.
Get in the habit of barely turning the button toward unlock each time you push the button.
Laugh the first time you squonk when you meant to push the button!

Well enough fanboy talk outside Reoville, enjoy!

Edit: BTW, get ready to want to give Rob more of your money.

Before you put the cotton to that coil, fire it up on your device, let go of the button and use some flat tweezers or needle nose pliers and squeeze that coil to tighten it up better... Fire and compress about 3 times to get it right. It seems to have some gaps in it.

Thanks, did that didn't take pics of it. Worked out good.

I followed your video to a tee and installed on my new Grand which came in yesterday. You are right on! - it vapes great and the throat hit is awesome! I'll post a pic of my "baby" soon. Thanks for all your help and expertise on the coils.

You know we always talk about how great the Reo is (and it is) but we easily forget how friggin amazing the RM2 is ... so taking a minute to show my favorite atty some love. I believe the size of the air chamber is as perfect as can be.

Thanks Johni and Mundy! I am really looking forward to the Reo and RM2. Your are right Mundy - I am quite sure Rob will be getting more of my money. When I spoke to Rob he said he was receiving the sub ohm parts for testing this week and they should be available in about a month. I am a sub-ohmer with the micro coils.

Just wrapped my firs coil. Followed your advice. 30 ga with 10 wraps 2.2! I built it on a Kayfun 3.1 clone. My first experience with this outside of a protank or carto. Holy cow! Looks like I have to get rid of my higher nic juices. 12 mg hits like a truck! No need for 18 and 24 mg anymore. Just need to figure out which one is the air control screw and play with the draw a bit. This thing is good!
