It makes a lot of sense that the tightest wick would be most consistent, but I was wondering if you had tried testing this way. I'm sure there will be some that decide to try a tighter wick made with #500 and it will be no better for them than before because they hold their PV horizontal and have found a good balance.

Again you answer yourself, if you have found a good balance, use it. Good balance are hard to repeat and gravitational flow has more variables than capillary flow. So i believe in "kiss". No need to test. If the 500 is excellent in the vertical the very little gravitational force it would receive in the horizontal is irrelevant. As you go to other looser mesh and larger holes the gravitational becomes more relevant and even necessary to adequately feed the coil. Now we would have to calculate each degree over horizontal because the higher you tip the unit the more flow, the level of the fluid in the tank greatly effects the gravitational flow. So personally I would rather have a wick that only counts on true wicking.

yes, tight baby, tight!!! There will be a tiny hole left, pinch that close from bottom and top, success!

Thanks again :)
Any hints on how to start rolling? Should I use a paper clip and then take it off before rolling? Or should I bend a small piece of mesh (1mm let's say) and then roll the mesh onto it?

thanks buddy!

Ok. I ran my tank dry on the 12 wrap and found that I don't have enough power to run it to my liking. I'm restricted to 10 watts by the kick and with that many wraps of 30g my conclusion is that you would need more power to the coils. Surprisingly it still produced ok amounts of vapour even with 10w. I think at around 10w on a 75mm wick 7/8 wraps is about as far as you want to go. I have no doubt that BJ is right about the more coils the more vapour ( who in their right mind would doubt BJ ), It's just a matter of having a sufficient amount of power to heat the desired amount of wraps. I really need to get a vv or vw device with more range.

With 10 wraps on the 3.2-3.4mm wick in my DID I get 1.6 ohms with 28awg nichrome, they sell the nichrome at my local Leading Edge electronics store in Gympie QLd. I was really p***ed off that that was all they had when I bought it, thought I'd never use it, then my deliver of 32&30awg kanthal took 5 weeks to arrive from the US so I had to use it, 8watts (maybe a true 9.5watts) on the Zmax and it's great. I have a Paps comming and will be able to run a 7wrap 28awg nichrome coil at 12.22watts @3.7v or 8wrap at 10.69watts etc, each wrap is .16Ohms by my calculation, so the 28awg nichrome will be very handy.
I'm after a kick, but not sure it will suit my vaping style with that 10watt limit.
Love the #500 Bj

Good to hear mate. Yea I'm thinking a zmax due to the 5amp capacity. Heard they're a little inconsistent though. Are you generally happy with yours?

I spent my formative years working on old air-cooled VWs, and I had to learn the metric system quick. :D Now, I'm about the only person I know who's bi-measuremental. LoL

lol - the metric system never stood a chance in the states but who knows, maybe our vapers will lead the way! ;)

I know a bunch of people who got them via Got Vapes Alpha program and 'issues' are starting to pop up. IMO, I'd wait until they put out a Version 2 (at least) before grabbing one.

I live in a country where gas is sold in gallons, oil in liters, distance in meters and kilometers, but cloth or rugs are sold by the yard. Rice, beans, meat by the pound in the grocery but wholesale they are sold by the kilos. Peoples weight in lbs and height in cm. Strange these Dominicans, but my math mind loves it.
