I really don't know what I am doing wrong. I have read all 193 pages and made about 15 wicks fro 50mm to 100mm. Mostly using 4/3 wraps on my zenesis mini. I can't get this 500 mesh to wick anything even if I tip it to let the juice flow down the wick... I tried taking the insulator out and everything. I would really like to stop using my 325 and 400 conduits... Any thoughts?

My:2c: Use Tomcatts' PVApps at PV Web Apps. Go to the bottom of the page to calculate the maximum length of material for your wick hole size. Divide that number by two and use that length of mesh. Then roll you wick tight (but not ultra tight) with no center hole so that the outside wick diameter is .2 to .4mm smaller than the wick hole size.

In earlier posts, Studiovap and Cracked3one detailed similar experiences and this math get you to around what they did. I tried it and its working great for me.

gdeal is the man when it comes to wicks, IMO. The only thing I'd add is that it might be good to thoroughly boil your mesh with and without a detergent. It seems like, for whatever reason, lots of 500 mesh has more manufacturing oils etc stuck to it when it gets to you. Oils, not surprisingly, have a deleterious affect on the wicking.

Thanks but,...I am just a humble student of Wick Master BJ43.

Haha; well it might have been more accurate to say "one of the men", but that doesn't sound like it means anything. My list is, at minimum, 4 people long: gdeal, studiovap, emonty, and BJ43, with the last name providing our reason for even being here and discussing this. As I finished typing that I also thought of Cracked3one and Larry Backsplash. (Sorry for people I'm surely leaving off the list and for names/SNs mispelled etc.)

Congrats jun0
One year is just as big deal too.
I only recently made it to two years and that felt as good as 5 to me

Hi,

1)I would like to know what causes flavor to be muted on a wick?
2)Which is better to oxidize a mesh or not to?

I know that maybe these have been answered but the thread is 194 pages long i simply dont have the time to go through each, thanks.

1. I usually just bump the voltage up a bit for more flavor.
2. I only oxidize under the coil, I have found that SS mesh wick much better if washed with detergent, then boiled with water and detergent and finally boiled again with clean water. The mesh comes with a lot of oils and residue remains when just burned.

Thanks for the help guys... Finally got a 110 mm wick in my zenesis mini with the bottom half of the wick not oxidized and its wicking perfect... I realized that a 3/2 wrap of 30 g kanthal was just too hot for my juice so I added another wrap and I can't get a dry hit out of this thing now.
