how do i improve the vapor thickness? right now on my Cobra im using a 400 mesh with 55mm x 30mm (tall cobra 5ml), 4/5 wrap with 2.5ohm and 4.5v. I still feel the vapor is not thick. My airhole is std 1mm and is properly aligned with the wick.

That's only about 8 watts mate. You need at least 12 watts ,try about 5.5v I vape around 15-20 watts on 90mm #500 in my DID. 8 watts on that would be feeble vapor wise. If you can't reach at least 12 watts without hotspots or shorts, you will need to look again at your coil tension and oxidization.

#500 mesh with #200 mesh

This thread has been quiet, so I thought I would throw this out there. With my mesh co order of #500, they included a free sample of #200 mesh. It was sitting around unused and I was looking at it the other day. I noticed that while it was much more transparent than the #500, it felt as thin. I went to the mesh company site to check the specs and apparently the wire diameter is about the same as #500 (.028 vs .025), but the open space is at ~60% (vs ~26%)!

So I put together a combo wick for a cobra which has a relatively smaller wick hole. I cut two 40mm lengths of material and rolled an ~2.3mm solid wick using the #200 on the inside and #500 on the outside.

While I know that the #200 will not wick as high as #500, the theory here is that when I vape I go from a vertical position to a more horizontal position and stay in the horizontal position for a few multiple pulls, so I could benefit from a potential increase in the rate of flow (or the greater juice reserve) from #200 inner core.

It works out very nicely for a chain vape. :) No drips, no beer guzzle, all goodness. Its hard to tell if its truly better, every wick rolled is a bit different, but I can say that its not inferior to a similar solid #500 wick I had been using prior.

So if anybody has this material on hand, it may be worth a try.

I have a question, esp since bj43 is keeping a seat warm in here. The atty's in general, and more so the rebuildables (that I have anyway) seem to produce a "fuller" thicker vape when cold vs warm/hot. Seems the more I vape, and I tend to vape a lot, the thinner the vapor gets. Could someone enlighten me on why or do I need to build a liquid cooled atty :)

Interesting Bmays, I've never had that happen though. Are you sure you're not changing your draw as your vape session progresses?

I notice my first draws are much more aggressive, mouth and nose inhale at the same time, and longer --> more vapor. Once my nic fit calms down I tend to take shallower drags and the vapor usually seems a bit less.

Then again maybe I'm totally off and something is happening with the temperature of the atty and its totally unrelated to my draw

please excuse no caps as I'm talking to my phone.... but I find it interesting as well. I've had quite a few different rebuildables and all seem to act in the same manner.

a brand new coil performs awesome, but after a solid 12 hours of use it doesn't seem to have the same hit. 32g kanthol

dry burns and cleans don't seem to help either. oh well this is off topic for this thread if someone has a suggestion I'd be glad to hear it.

I have 6-8 gens variable and mechanical. That will happen on all of them I found the key is to a multitude of heads and vapes available . I have a zen standard # 94 i-hybrid black widow zen bam #75 telescope zmax 3 hand made flashlight mods i-max and they all need adjustment and fiddling alot. I really like my telescope because I can put my did mini and vivi tank on them all gen's by the way and vape till I'm satisfied. still didn't spend the 3000.00 I would have normaly in a year.

Hotter the juice, thinner the juice, thinner the vaper. that is the pure physics of it but there are many other parameters. Such as thick juice wicks slower and cold juice takes longer to heat up, but all other parameters equal the cooler juice is more dense and will vape more.

I will say this, I kept checking the Ohm's of my atty and it was creeping up as the coil wore. I would assume that's to be expected. I have almost always done a 3/4 ish coil. That was creeping to the 2.0 Ohm mark after wear.

So this evening I wrapped a 2/3 coil and it is vapin like crazy. Maybe that will account for the wear and Ohm creep I was getting.

Doubt that has anyting to do with my hot vs cold atty though:?:

Just ordered me some 500...see how it stacks up against the 325 :) is there an optimal size for the Cobra 5ml? Or basically the more you can cram in, the better? Sorry if its a repetitive question, it's just tough to find exact answers on the boards with so many threads.

Look at this thread and type 'Cobra' in the 'search thread' box on the top. 'Tomcat' also made a nice app to use, the one on the bottom.
