HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL, GENTLEPEOPLE.
i'll go order nicotine now.
i've been mtl vaping at 6% with a tendency to chain vape.
i guess that means i need to up the strength.

You might find this formula handy: To calculate the amount of your nicotine base needed to reach your target strength, divide your target strength by your nic base strength, then multiply your answer by your batch size. The result is the amount of your nicotine base you will need to add to your batch to reach your desired nicotine strength.

Sorry, Classy.

But I do have a question. Is it not allowed to say that we shouldn't discuss it in an open forum? What's the proper procedure when someone brings the subject up?

Perfectly allowed to say it can't be discussed :)

classy, no one here was trying to break rules.
what they did was educate me in the dangers involved in nicotine.
i was unaware of said dangers.
their posts n yours may have averted a tragedy in my kitchen.

zaz, i don't understand that math.
i have several bottles of juice that say they are120ml, with 6mg/ml.
do you have any idea how much nicotine i need to add to eliminate chain vaping?

Susie, 120 ml is, I guess, the bottle capacity--how much liquid it holds, correct? 6 mg/ml is the strength of your eliquid: 6 milligrams of nicotine per 1 ml of diluent (PG or VG), or .6% strength.

That's bit low, if you ask me. How much did you smoke? How many cigs a day? I used to be a 1 PAD smoker and 12 mg/ml was the lowest strength that scratched my itch. Does that help?

ETA: Tell us what strength nic base you have ordered and then we'll help you with the math. I think you should start with 12 mg/ml, possibly even higher, depending on how much you smoked. It's trial and error, I'm afraid, at the beginning.

I'm sorry for bringing up the 'over 100' thing. I knew about the rule, and recall at least several discussions about that topic, but I didn't really remember it till the rule was mentioned again. My original thought was about a 'Vapocalypse Calculator' and a 'nic base time-line span'. There's threads about both, and I should've posted in one of those, or even just started a new thread.

    thanks, kat,
i was at a carton/week, so i guess what i have is way off.
i have not actually ordered the nicotine.
quite frankly, the more i read this thread, the more confused i get.

Well, what you've got is too weak, right? So you need to order some stronger nicotine base to make your eliquid stronger. Do I have it right--so far?

One suggestion I have would be to order a 100 mg/ml free sample from Nude Nicotine--it's a 10 15 ml (thanks, somdcomputerguy) bottle and you can experiment with it. They only ask you to pay postage if you're a first time customer.

    https://www.nudenicotine.com/product/nicotine-sample-request/

Scroll down to make your selection--I suggest 100 mg/ml, either VG or PG or a blend, that's up to you.

I should've at least mentioned the risk level of (100*10 base) being a lot much higher than 100.

This simple formula was mentioned to me several years ago by a member here. It's so easy, if I can do it, a caveman can..
Take two equal amounts of equal PG/VG ratios and mix them together. Add together the nicotine level numbers (say 6 and 12), then divide that total by 2. That is the nic level of the mixed batch.

    It's a 15 ml bottle unless they've changed things..

Or just order 18 mg/ml sample bottle and mix equal amounts of your 6 mg/ml and 18 mg/ml to achieve your target goal of 12 mg/ml: e.g. 2 ml of the 6 mg + 2 ml of 18 mg. This is not very economical, but as simple as it gets.

    Or 24 mg/ml to get 15 mg/ml (1:1 mix).
Kat, you type (and probably think too) faster than I..

Interesting. My 'Vapocalypse Calculator' tells me a liter of 1000 mg/ml nic will yield (for me) for 75 years.. and that it would cost me less than $350 if I took the unflavored (75/25/25 PG/VG/nic) path. I wonder if 'eliquid donor banks' are available, or I guess you could just leave your 'leftover base' in your will or something..

The cost of the airlock sealed lab, respiratory equipment, and the hazmat suit you'll need might eat up the savings. :)

Good luck, Suzie! Most of us had to experiment with different setups, atties, wattages, and eliquid strengths before we found what worked for us. It takes time and patience. I think, based on your smoking habit of 1 carton per week, that you should be satisfied somewhere between 12 and 18 mg/ml, at least at the beginning. Happy New Year!
