Gotcha. No Idea.

But you are Firmly Convinced that we Need the Government to step in an Do Something.

You would make a Good Politian.

There is such a thing as preventing needless accidents before they happen. I really don't understand the push back against safety standards, but I guess some just don't care about safety...

Perhaps you should read your own links... I have heard the same argument concerning helmets...

But what does being a geography professor have to do with disputing the validity of the subject discussed? Kind of snarky aren't ya Steve. I was just pointing out that you making the statement about seatbelts saving lives is not a black and white issue and seems to be quite a bit of debate going on in regards to the conventional wisdom. Like I said...just something to chew on.

Yeah, I don't trust geography professors any more then peeps from Utah.

Am I the only one who sees the folly of trying to make an inherently deadly activity like bike riding safer with helmet regulations.
Gravity is quite dangerous, an out right ban would be more effective.
I was an avid bike rider and wanna-be stunt driver in my younger days.
And I never wore a helmet.

I did crush my "peanuts" once when I went off a jump that was way too hardcore.
Perhaps children should be forced to wear a cup.

I am personally in favor of removing EVERY warning label off of EVERYTHING and letting Darwins Law take affect.

We're getting over run with stupid. It would afford us a welcome relief.
Let's start with mattresses and pillows.

Or maybe just mattresses. Some would be mortified if their beloved pillows were seemingly deregulated. [emoji14]

I tend to believe the experts in the field. Arguing one drives safer when they aren't wearing a seat belt is just silly. I don't care about the lives of those who don't wear seat belts; I don't want them losing control of their car when they can't stay in the seat around a corner or due to an evasive maneuver and run into me.

Sure. Preventing needless Accidents is a Great Goal. I'm just Not Convinced that the Federal Government can Accomplish this.

Especially when I don't see any Widespread Problems in an Industry.

Only a Handful of problems out of the Hundreds and Hundreds of Thousands of People using a Product.

So who are the experts? How does one become a seatbelt safety expert? And also why is that argument so silly?

People who have studied and researched seat belt technology. Engineers... The only people I know who don't wear seat belts are hillbillies at work; and they don't drive safe...

Same as with guns spontaneously exploding. I'm all for not regulating the gun industry...

If you are Not for Regulating the Gun Industry, then Why are you for Regulating the mod Industry?

The firearms industry isn't new and the manufacturers are worried about liability. There aren't unknowns as there are in a new industry. I want to know that a dual battery box mod, made by a faceless PRC company with no QC to speak of, isn't going to randomly explode near me, or that juices I buy don't contain ingredients, such as diecetyl.
