I have nothing against people asking whatever they want for whatever they sell. What I can't understand is why they turn me away when I try to negotiate a lower price. I tell them the cost they paid for it. I agree to not ask for any after sales support. The response is always a lie.

"We can't do that"...

Doing that to me then costs them far more than what they would "loose". How can they be so shortsighted?

Again I don't begrudge anyone for that, I just think it's tragic and foolish, and suggests of a hit and run attitude.

Also complicating the issue is the fact that we are about to have it all taken away because of both web sellers and B&M's in your face storefronts bringing it all out into the open. We could have dragged this out for a long time under the radar Japanese style. Again, I mean no hostility here, I've taken care of my needs for years to come, I just think it's a tragedy.

I doubt if you actually know what they paid. You may know what someone else paid but you don't know if they have those same connections. Different wholesalers have different prices.

Lucky for those in Western Washington, a long-established e-retailer, EcigExpress, opened a b&m store which has done well enough they have expanded into Seattle. One can always buy online, but the physical presence of a quality store clearly can promote vaping. Many people have been turned off by the schlock in malls and kiosk. Kudos to those who put their capital into these ventures.

I really want to support my local shop, especially since this is a small town. That said, they don't have a lot of the products I have come to prefer, although they do have a pretty good inventory, especially for beginner vapers. Still, I go in there at least a couple times a month and buy some things because I want to support them, and I enjoy the employees and seeing who else comes in, etc. I do know they have improvements in mind, and just learned that ours is their 2nd store and they are about to open 2 more in other small towns nearby. So they must be doing okay. IMO, their prices are reasonable enough for a B&M. I'm happy that we even have a vape shop in my town!

Have you asked? They might be thinking of more advanced things and people asking may get them to.

IMHO B&M shops have their place in this world. They do expose a lot of folk who are not internet savvy to the world of vaping, and they are handy if you need to grab a coil or a battery - even if they tend to be over-priced. I do browse the local stores occasionally, but I have never made a purchase from one, myself, even tho I am grateful that they are available to the public.

It's a couple little things called rent, insurance, electricity, employees etc etc, it doesn't take a rocket scientist to understand why their prices are higher. Don't get me wrong...I like saving money as much as the next guy, and I buy online regularly, but when it comes to higher end items like authentic mods and atomizers most of the B & M stores prices are competitive with what's available online.

Please don't perform acute surgery on my carefully thought out posts.

Your point implies a vendor is paying more than I pay at fasttech. In that case thy shouldn't even be in business.

This is not mention avoiding the actual meat of my argument.

LOL, in China maybe :)

I figure Fasttech has such low overhead being in China and close ties to the manufacturers there they're not much more than wholesale. I allow for people not in China to be twice as much as Fasttech. The ones I've heard of being 300%-500% above Fasttech are pushing it depending on the area.

If you want to pay $40 at Fasttech rather than $80 local I can understand but it's not an unreasonable markup. If you're offering Fasttech prices and mad because they say no, that is unreasonable.

And I agree, if they pay too much and therefore have to charge too much they probably shouldn't be in business.

Are you.far.from charleston?

No, I'm in Chapin which is just 20 miles or so from Columbia.

I did like the store in Charleston when I went there a couple years ago. The girl working the counter was really nice about all my questions and wanting to check everything out. That's a great benefit of a B&M when you're still new to vaping.

Don't go there. It's as simple as that. No one forced you by gunpoint to go. You made that decision.

I can choose to pay a dollar for a cup of coffee at the local gas station, or eight dollars at Starbucks.

Do I go to Starbucks and then get online and complain that it's not as cheap as the gas station? No. I know that as soon as I walk into Starbucks, I'm going to pay more.

Choose more wisely next time, my friend.

Agreed, I like to keep my money local when it is possible. That being said I do like to kick it at the juice bars, and I shop all of the places within about 100 miles, in so cal so I have seen all the good n all the bad shops, makes me appreciate the good ones and want to support them even more, thinning the heard of all these half assed no knowledge b/m's that have been popping up everywhere. If I've been in a store a few times I do expect a lot however, customer service is something that I have acquired very high standards for... That's the vegas in me.

Wow, commercial property in eastern Ohio must be a lot more expensive than out here in San Diego, by an order of magnitude. Suburban spots go from 90 cents to $1.50 per square foot, you could have an oceanfront spot (which is where my B&M is located) for probably $2.25. If people are really paying $70,000/mo. to rent a 1,000 sf shop, I need to start buying up strip malls in your 'hood like they're going out of style!

Dear Lord I'm having math issues... sorry, that SHOULD have been per year, not per month. Ugh.

But those rates weren't just for my area (around here I've seen storefront rentals for about $8-$10/year/square foot) those were national figures. Manhattan's a lot pricier than my hometown, lol.

I love getting to know people in the vape community through shopping at B & M's and attending conventions. It's worth the extra money, IMO. I have ordered juice online though if there are great reviews.

I'd happily spend a few extra dollars a month just to be able to hang out with some fellow vapers; I'm starting to feel like a Unicorn, lol. The only other person I know that vapes, I think he went back to cigarettes full time (I don't see him with his PV at work) although he claims that he vapes at home.

I've been told from a couple of shops around here, because of advanced ecigs still being a niche market, its extremely hard to find knowledgeable help. That isn't to say, one cant be trained, but I kind of see their point. One can definitely tell if a shop is opened by experienced vapers versus a shop opened by someone who is "just looking to cash in".

I suppose you've got a good point there. Before joining the ECF all I knew was an ego with a T3S, LOL. I think with all the new shops opening here, most probably are inexperienced people trying to make a quick buck.
