It is unusual to see vapers here at all, and when I do it's almost always a 20 something male who is usually shocked to see a middle aged woman doing the same thing! It's a lonely landscape here for vapers, but I am just starting to see signs of mainstreaming like B&M stores popping up in other parts of the state. I am encouraged by this but still feel a little like the lone vaper around here.

It'd seems like in Austin I'd see a bunch of vapers. There are new shops popping up like startled meerkats. The first ones I've see were when I stopped into a new shop last Friday night and you kinda expect it there. Then again, I just hang out with other old people...

Doesn't that have something to do with the culture of the area?

There are two other vapers at my work. There used to be more but they went back to analogs. I get lots of positive comments about my gaping at work - mostly people telling me I smell like cookies and sitting near me to smell the sweet vapor coming off my mod or tank. I do have a GREAT nearby local B&M that I hang out at from time to time - I love how they all yell "VAPRIL!" when I walk in....kind of like "NORM" from Cheers. My real name is April and I am now Vapril to local vapers and people at work. At home, my guy doesn't vape and has never smoked, but is very neutral. I don't need him to participate for me to enjoy a vape session while watching a movie after he falls asleep. :vapor:

I'm right there too. I work in DC and though over the past month or so I've started seeing more vapers, most have ego style setups which is cool but not really the hobbyist types. I'm struggling to find a group of people to talk about vaping with. The shops are cool but there's still that customer obligation which is a little weird. Anyways, good luck folks.

Other than the one guy at work that vapes part-time (He got into it shortly after I started, but he hardly ever vapes at work) I've seen ONE other vaper out and about. A young guy behind me at a red light that looked to be vaping on an Ego and some sort of clearomizer.

I almost got out of my car and gave him a hug.

Almost.

One of my friends got his live-in-ladyfriend and her daughter (my BFF) and the daughter's boyfriend ecigs to get then to quit last winter. While it didn't get them to wholly quit, it's helped immensely. My friend and her boyfriend vape to get their nicotine and aren't that interested in super mods or RDAs. The ladyfriend mixes her own juice and it's delicious, but again, not an intense vaper. It's more like we're all vapers but I take it to a much more for-fun level.

Husband and I are both getting interested in the more advanced features and mods now. It's spreading to at least one good friend that enjoys vaping at our place and had a first-gen POS vape a year ago. Hooks are in. He's looking for the best mid-high mod. If he gets a Provari before me, I'm going to beg for one for Halloween and/or Giftmas.

SO MANY vape stores in town, but I haven't seen one vaper besides shop staff. It's a bit lonely. I mean, I love my husband, but I just wish I could bond over vaping instead of answering questions from the uninitiated. I don't mind answering questions, and I defiantly vape within the 20 foot border we have in state, in clear view of the public, but I can't be the only one!

Same here loopy, I am up in NW NJ, too bad we are not closer.
There is a few guys that still vape on Halo tritons at work, but they dont want to get into the mods like I did.
I am married and have kids so I never go out anyway
I do have a buddy I go RC with once in a while that vapes, but he does not vape nic...if ya catch my drift.

Been on 2 cruises recently, only met 1 person on each cruise with a mod and RDA, I keep my eyes peeled at all times for vapor clouds, whether they be big or small lol.
The people at the 2 vape shops I go to are cool, I usually hang around for 10-15 mins when I strop in to buy something.

god I need to get out more lol

The few vapers I have met (mostly in vape shops which I don't frequent) are pretentious ....... I personally dont; think this will ever be mainstreamed but who knows.

This always cracks me up. I hear about them all the time though.

What do they have to be pretentious about?

"hello, I bought a PV, I put juice in it and then vape it."

(everyone around them faints in awe............ :hubba::hubba:

Sometimes I get the feeling that I come off kind of pretentious when I show people my vape gear. Where I live is very "behind the times" in almost every aspect. Put it this way... Only about 20% of people in my town own a computer. The few people that do use an e-cigarette have a Puresmoke or NJoy cig-a-like that they got from the discount cigarette shop, and then they see me and get all curious about my Provari. And then they get all weird at the idea of spending that much on an e-cigarette, so I have to explain to them that after buying the Provari 3+ years ago, and a good RBA, my YEARLY cost to vape is about $90, where I used to smoke that in a week and a half...

That or they complain about the taste and other problems we all know about those tobacco shop e-cigs, and I explain to them that they could get much better equipment, and be able to get almost any flavor they could imagine. They always have a look of about 50% intrigue/50% WTH?.
