I was thinking of pulling together a packet of information, not only about e-cigs, but about all the money connections behind the scenes and sending to media outlets to try to get one of them to cover this story.

Just out of curiosity, I found this page What should we investigate? - News | NBC News
"We're about investigative reporting on topics that matter: corruption, conflicts of interest, broken systems, abuses by institutions and individuals with power, whether that's government, nonprofits, or the press itself."

I would imagine that most news outlets want the same thing, and our story certainly seems to have all the elements.

There are links to upload information and then contact information for them to follow up. I don't feel informed/expert enough to field any follow up details.

Maybe we need a Media/PR director in CASAA?

In addition to getting our story out for free using these types of outlets, maybe a crowd funding effort to pay for advertising?

When youre done getting them to investigate the war on vaping, make them investigate the danish government... They have literally gone insane... Breaking laws and constitutional rights... Almost daily...

Geez... that sounds exactly like the US government! It has lately come to be not a gov't "of the people, by the people, for the people"... but OF the corporations, BY the paid-off corporate mouthpieces, FOR the the suppression of the peoples' right to not starve to death!

This war to keep us causing ourselves cancer is just one of their assaults on the peoples' right just to exist...

That's why I got into DIY, I am going to be a 'prepper' when the time is near. I feel like a lot of states will pass bans on a local level. However I will continue to vape, as will many, by stocking up and keep vaping with DIY if the time ever comes.
I feel like they won't completely outlaw vaping, but they will be giving me a ride to jail where the taxpayers will be paying for my hot meals and free room and board if they ever do. I am prepared to go down with glory lol!
Writing to senate seems to not be doing that much currently, but hopefully we can get more people to hop on the wagon and realize that this is actually happening...right now...in your own backyard.

I think what will happen, if it does come to this, is you will see regulation pretty hard on e cigarettes. You will see a ton of small vendors shutting down and closing shop just because they can't keep up. And of course, big tobacco will just brush it off their shoulders and it will be just another day in paradise for them.

But none of us can predict the future with 100% accuracy. We can just make educated guesses.

Ok...now that my blood pressure has increased 20 points reading this thread, I'll try not to rant(too much).
IMO, anyone who thinks the genie can't be stuffed back in the bottle is severely mistaken. Vaping can be cut off at the knees in so many ways, its absolutely disgusting. We have to worry about flavors, nic levels, online sales, local and state usage bans, taxes and once e-cigs are DEEMED officially tobacco We may have the PACT act to deal with as well. If Nicotine is made less accessible forget about your black market being any good. I for one only are willing to vape Nic that is USP. I don't want some crazy backyard extraction process to be the way I get my NIC.

We have to fight back! Starting with CASAA. All the other key players on our side will continue to have major roles moving forward. All of the good Doctors (Dr F, Dr Siegel, Dr Polosa, etc...)

We will also have AEMSA, SFATA, and others to thank for the upcoming victory. I also think full implantation of AVA is going to help if they ever get off the ground. Vaping.info They have finally announced the PR firm that will start debunking all of these nonsense stories. I really believe if they are well funded, we can start to see the media time we have been looking for! The folks who should be donating are the vendors who have a lot to lose. If the vendors don't step up, winning a fight will be even tougher.

My point is we are getting more and more organized, and we have the truth on our side. We couldn't say this when we were smokers. Vapers, stop being lazy and complacent, do your part. There is a lot to lose.

Sadly true. It'd be pretty stupid to overcome smoking-related diseases just to be poisoned by the "cure."

Amen! I am never in favor of just rolling over for bullies. I make myself heard on any number of causes I believe in which are lately taking a beating, and I intend to add making myself heard on the subject of vaping, to all and any who will stand still long enough. ;) But seriously, not only is it important for vapers to make themselves heard, but what about the FAMILIES of vapers, who maybe don't smoke or vape themselves, but hey, they get to have us around for a while longer, and make a lot fewer trips to hospitals and funeral homes! I think the voice of those who DON"T vape, but who see what a blessing it is and can be, that will resonate even louder in the public eye -- like the commercials made by family members of those who've died-while-texting, or hit by a drunk driver.

...we have the truth on our side.

That was kinda my point about us NOT dying of vaping, which of course *would* be happening, if e-cigs really were as dangerous as the real ones. I suppose there might be *some* risk involved in it, nicotine is a fairly toxic substance in sufficient dose, and there is very little on this planet that doesn't entail some risk -- but compared to cigarettes (cigars, pipes, etc)??? I mean, C'MON! They're a worse plague than the Black Death! And hey, haven't they been TRYING to get us all to quit, since 1964?? Well, hey, now we can! So we (vapers and anyone else sane enough to see the benefits) need to give these greedy idiots a big fat raspberry!

I agree that a lot of vapor's don't realize what's going on politically to our community. I believe there's a bunch of them, that don't see the severity of what could potentially be coming. This is a war, it's real, and it's here. The government could careless as long as they can tax us to death. The tobacco and pharmaceutical industry seem at times to be the same. I joined the ECF three month's ago, wanting to learn about equipment. My neighbor's daughter lives in NYC, he saw me vaping and said "those things are being banned in NYC. So I started reading the legislation thread a month ago.
I for one am more than concerned, and feel we have one serious fight on our hands. The government will not allow the revenue loss to continue. They're steadily moving towards not only regulations on where one can vape, they want the revenue they've lost due to vaping. As I see it, it's all about the money. Nothing more.

That's how I see it too.

A side spin effect may be, more smokers become aware that there is an effective alternative offering hope to quit that they didn't seriously consider before. The army grows. It is important to get the media to start reporting. The current smokers will relate to the former smokers and more 'in your face' evidence will be the end result. As more people that quit smoking successfully though vaping, the more the general public will accept it.

Make sure YOU join CASAA and make the numbers count.

First, I believe only a very, very small percentage of those who vape are active. Probably less that .001%. Out of 1M vapers that would amount to 1000. So I am probably being generous. Second, if they get the right legislation passed, the two weak area's are financial institutions and nicotine. Stopping the ability to process transactions for vaping supplies, like Paypal voluntarily did in the US, would kill it out right. I'm not saying that will happen, but under the right circumstances, especially at a state/city level, it is possible.

I get casaa cards from here: CASAA E-cigarette Information Cards

And for legislators I'll make stickers (Avery template 5160 I think) with my name and contact info but I keep about 4 of them with the following graphic (also on the 5160):

cardlabel-dense.jpg

(The QR code says casaa.org, so if someone scans it with their smart phone or tablet it takes them to casaa.org)

Then I carry about 4 cards with me and give them to any vapers I meet in stores, telling them "we're under attack."

They are shocked. Then I tell them "because of the QR code on this card, you can keep it AND give it away."

(I'm the only person left in Silicon Valley that doesn't have a smart phone, but even I can read QR codes if I have my tablet with me.)

We are a welfare country as you might know... But now they have cut the welfare check by up to 30%, chronicly ill and mentally sick people are being forced to sign a statement that they are healthy or else the gov takes money from them until they do... They are breaking up families by forcefully wedding couples who live together but cannot support eacother wich they have to under the married ruleset and they are even invading peoples privacy by sending out forms asking about shopping, cleaning and laundry habbits, and even questions about how many times a week people have intercourse with their roommate if they are listed as NOT a couple...

Its insane :S

It does sound that way (and it seems weird; I always had the impression that the Scandinavian countries were blissfully liberal). But here in the US, they don't bother with questionnaires -- they just get the NSA to eavesdrop on phone calls and emails. They keep SAYING they're going to stop doing that, but I didn't just fall off a turnip truck: they'll just do it more sneakily, or "discover" (engineer!) some new "terrorist attack" so they can justify spying on us, "for our own good." Big Nanny to the rescue! ;)

Even if we win the war, the government will probably start to tax vaping to make up for the lost revenue.

That's where we need to be the most vocal. We will need to be sure to let everyone know that taxing vaping will be the surest way to get people to go back to analogs, and deter smokers from trying e-cigs.

We need to make the general public aware of the dangers of taking away our freedom to choose what juices and devices we use, as well as the dangers of making vaping cost prohibitive.

We need to make doing those things look like turning back the clock on quitting smoking, rather than letting people believe we are causing people and kids to smoke by normalizing or glamorizing vaping.

Well we used to be blessed with a working system in denmark... But the last election went wrong... It was sorta divided into red and blue... Red wanting to help the poor and less fortunate and keep the welfare system. And blue the complete opposite

A red candidate won but was suddenly hit with a case of colorblindness

Getting op-eds into local papers, informing local media and encouraging them to run positive stories, cost nothing but time.

For campaigns that cost money - crowdfunding!

I agree. We all need to start with local media. For anyone who lives in an area where they still have smaller papers, it's pretty easy to do guest columns, or at least write letters to the editor, and it costs nothing. I do that all the time.

Most states have a lot of smaller towns. In smaller towns, you are bigger fish in a smaller pond. Once you write a few well thought out pieces, people begin asking you about your experiences, and you have a chance to tell them. If enough smaller towns in each state start to listen and believe us, it's more difficult to pass state wide laws, which in turn, make it more difficult to pass national laws. I like starting with local, county, and in smaller states, state wide papers, tv stations, and radio stations.

I disagree on the severely mistaken part. Sounds good for political tripe, but unless you can name something else that has been literally cut off from humanity, I think it is tripe put forth.
- Flavors aren't going to disappear, nor will humans not have access to them
- Nicotine as a schedule 1 controlled substance by the biggest superpower on the planet will not cut it off from consumption. If history is any guide at all.
- online sales going bye bye would mean we are in an Orwellian world, and not allegedly in it, but actually in it.

That leaves usage bans and taxes.

One front of this war is here on ECF. I can start the umpteenth thread on vaping in public and have around 30% (maybe more) of all vapers who care about political issues of eCigs tell me how rude and utterly harmful it is to the cause to vape pretty much anywhere in public.

Honestly, on most of the issues that are up for discussion, one need not look over yonder for the so called enemy to the pro vaper. Some vapers really want regulation of manufacturers and are very okay with usage bans. I've seen ECF vapers say, if you vape where I'm eating, I'll tattle on you and enjoy watching you get kicked out of that establishment. Boy, thanks for helping with the cause there. Now that the so called rude members of our great society have found vaping, you still think we stand a great chance of winning on all fronts of the war? I'm thinking if we have vapers amongst us that have problems with certain types vaping going on, that the non vapers might have questions while the anti vapers just can't wait to exploit the rude vapers to make the key point of - don't vape anywhere, it is rude to do so!

I'm not sure if there is a current issue on the table that I, a pro vaper, wouldn't take the side of actual freedom with, and thus disavow unreasonable control, debate those who care to debate it. And I'll likely continue to run into fellow vapers who keep seeking control of some sort. Won't anyone think of the children? Yep, even that is working against us, by us. Ban sales / possession to everyone under 18, and then think those who are anti-vaping ain't going to use that against us? Just as us so called adults will find a way around those who must have control on vaping, I'm a guessing those of us under 18 will always (and I do mean always) find workarounds to make a mockery out of this incessant need to control what others are up to.

Sure Senator, of course we agree to ban possession to persons under 18. But do you think, um, that we adults could vape in this way or at that location for at least another week? Pretty please!

Yes, I think we will win. I think it will be bitterly fought towards the end but the Big Boys screwed up and did nothing for too long. They allowed vaping to get a foothold. Now that it has one, and enough public recognition, the war is all but won. There are going to be a lot of people who think I am nuts but you just watch. The amount of Doctors and Scientists coming out in support of the product is increasing. Believe me scientific types don't like to buck the system. If they had stomped on the first vaporizers when they arrived then they would have a chance to win. The Pharma companies should have spent millions fighting vaporizers but their own arrogance has cost them this battle.

Its not a think we will win its a knowing that we have prevailed.
