, I know there is a big push in this thread to do so but a lot of us are happy blister pack users (premade coils) sometimes keeping it simple really is better.

SO AGREE ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^

AND - To be honest, there are so many threads that discuss coils and rebuilding already all over ECF . . . I simply do not understand all the conversations here in the thread that go outside (or maybe better said - go further) of what a "Tootle Puffer" might or might not be looking at or want to do . . . I really thought - "Tootle Puffer's" wanted to keep it simple and easy . . .

NOW - Don't anyone get carried away, this probably is just only "My" opinion and :2c: . . .

hahaha then you're screwed! You'll need a little zapper gun to make your decks big and small!
the zapper gun sounds a great idea

only prob i can see is you would prob also need a big hammer and vise for beating the coils into shape as the wire swg would be larger and thicker ie harder to work

may also need a small winch to pull the huge wicks through the coil

when it comes to cleaning tho ya could just use a disc grinder on the massive coils no more need to dry burn

if only there was such a zapper gun

Wow that's another possibility. How well does the bottom feeding work.... or rather, how does it work?

Well the deck is a little harder to work with,
    P1000786_zps2b86f49d.jpg

and it's a mouth to lung only, but it has to be bottom air if you're going to use a vacuum switch like the SD Keyring.

The A7s hold about 7 drops, but with a 2 ohm coil get about 3 hits/drop. So about 20 hits before needing to drip again.

And trust me on this, the A7 will make you reduce the flavorings in all your juices by almost 50%.

and seriously @AllElseFailed you do not have to get into coil rebuilding to have a very satisfying vape, I know there is a big push in this thread to do so but a lot of us are happy blister pack users (premade coils) sometimes keeping it simple really is better. :D Personally I did not find the flavor on the kayfuns to be better then with my GS Air tanks as a matter of fact the flavor comes through better for me with the GS Air tanks and without having to use ridiculously high levels of flavoring in my juice btw ~ as far as performance well the GS Air tanks do not leak, you have total control over the air flow to suit your personal vape style, they hold more juice and you do not have to mess with coils builds ~a win all around in my book ;)

I think someday, I may want to learn to both build my own coils and make my own juices. But right now, I am happy using pre-built coils and pre-made juice. It's nice to know I'm not the only one! And I am just getting more and more excited to get my GS Airs in the mail so that I can try them!

To me, tootle puffing just means that I don't want a lot of vapor. I also don't want to spend a lot of money, or spend a lot of time waiting on the USPS to bring me mah coils... so I build my own. I also get very tired of cloud chasers' attitude of 'why even bother?' when I say I make 1.5-1.8Ω coils. But, I'm also getting really tired of tootle puffers acting like the only way to tootle puff is to pop coils out of blisterpacks, which is why i've been spending a lot more time in the mod-wompers thread lately. They don't judge.

When I started vaping (2011) the FDA was involved in a lawsuit, customs was seizing shipments, and the end of vaping was looming over our heads. (sounds familiar doesn't it) So I figured it would be in my best interest to at least learn how to become "self reliant". That meant learning how to make my own mods & atomizers as well as learning how to wrap coils and DIY liquids.

I would point out that's the mind set behind the development of a lot of the mods & atomizers we all enjoy today.
Much to my surprise, I not only found that I can be self reliant, I found that I can do it for almost nothing!
Hell, I spend more for TP than I do for vaping supplies.

Seems to me the titles reflect on attitude.

Tootle puffer is a leisurely vaper, mozying along at a relaxed pace. No rush. New stuff, eh maybe later.

ModWomper is a bit more caught up in the game trying to keep up with newest latest greatist but with restraint.

Cloud chaser; chasing the biggest most powerful show-offing, look at me type.

I take my glasses off to do coil and wick work.
I tired that, not good enough. Got out my old readers from when I used to wear contacts, that didn't work, astigmatism was a problem. Put the readers on over my regular glasses, and I can see fine up close. Thinking about getting some stronger readers.

Wire gauge, diameter and number of wraps?
I'm thinking 2 ohms will be nice with my MicroDrip. Something like 30 AWG, 8 wraps 2mm ID

    Yup
    8 wraps, 30ga, around 3 strands of 0.8mm silica
Coil & wick will last about 3 months provided you don't go crazy with juice formulas.

There ya go. I've got wire, I've got wick, I've got plenty of time... no reason I'll ever have to do without a good vape, and if a coil breaks or otherwise goes haywire, I'm not out any money, just a few minutes of my time to make another. Likewise, I've got nic, I've got flavors, I've got PG/VG... so it's no skin off my nose WHAT they do to commercial ejuice; I won't have to do without.

But I'm very concerned what they do, actually, because a free market and competition drives innovation and excellence. If they send vaping back to the sealed-carto days out of sheer ignorance and greed, that won't be a good thing for Vaping or the World At Large, no matter my own preparations and self-reliance. There's still a lot of smokers who haven't heard the Good News yet.

Nope...you're not the only one. Going at your own pace is part of YOUR vaping journey. Remember that feeling when anyone nagged you to quit smoking so you could be like "them"? Same thing...you'll know when you're ready to try something new. Until then, smile, nod, and then do what YOU want!

I always looked at it as:

Tootle puffing---anything less than 13 watts regardless what it is. Even kayfuns and lemo's fall into this catagory.

Cloud chasing---- Sub ohm high wattage fog machines where flavor is just a fond memory.

Mod womping---In between tootle puffing and cloud chasing.

For me, I still tootle puff with my Kayfuns and never over 13 watts, usually 10 to 11 watts, but they are not my go to devices, just gear that I enjoy certain juices in. My go to daily usage devices is subtank mini's at 20 watts and a lemo II at 30 watts, plus I really enjoy dripping where I do produce huge clouds but I care less about the clouds, its the flavor that matters to me. Ok, I like the clouds but thats not my main concern :)

Tootle puffers and mod wompers can both use prebuilt coils or build coils. I done both many times. And many tootle puffers are mod wompers. Both groups can get very very far off topic and I think its great. People are having fun. Both groups can also get deeply in depth discussions on coil building, device types, altering, mods or what ever the topic of the day is and that too is great for people learn and there is a vast wealth of vaping knowledge in both groups that people are more than happy to share, even if its been discussed a thousand times on another thread. To put restrictions on any community type of thread like this is just plain silly. It does more damage than good.

    Thats just my :2c: worth.

    ^^ Agree!
Learning all this stuff is a journey ... not an event.
Learning a fun ride, might just as well take your time and enjoy it.

My juice is very low in flavoring and gunk factor. :)
    This is my first mech.
    Looks good in Steam Engine.
For the AW 18350 12A I get Amp limit headroom at 83%, 6.85 watts and 26 mins runtime (311 5 sec puffs)

    Thanks tj

There are a couple of "extreme reading" glasses (+4 and +5) at Duluth Trading Co. Looks like your typical "granny glasses" . Ordered both at same price back in 2011 and have enjoyed since. The +5's I use for building coils. :)

    Were you a 1WOX1 ?????

Hell they were cool in that pic ;) they turn white when things get really good.

There are fire proof light fixtures in the dyno room is all.

This is basically what a Dyno cell looks like, and we stay outside as much as possible when testing. The DB level inside can be well beyond what is considered safe.
