A question for you techy guys. Supposing I went for a very relaxed 1.8ohms in one of my Kayfuns using a 2.4 bit, 10 wraps of 28g or 7 wraps of 30g will both get you there. But which would be better taking into account ramp up time etc. I do like the 28 because it is steadier when you want to just re-wick, but would the 30 be better?
The 30g would be a hotter, faster ramping coil at your 11W (assuming) than the 28g would. You would have to run the 28g at 20W to get the same warm vape as the 30g.

Thanks. No I don't use Egos - I have various shades of iSticks. :) So I can go with the 28g which is much better for me.... sturdier coil, longer life.

Ego vs istick was for illustration purposes. Didnt have a clue what you was using :)

OK - seeing your your post now I see what you mean now. So the higher the ohms the thinner the gauge for a better vape.

Not always true. There is a lot of variables there. Wattage unlocks flavor up to a certain point where there is a steep fall off to the curve when there is too much wattage. Like with my subtank. I can build a 28 ga coil of 6/7 wraps and at 20 watts its perfect. Any more then that and I start getting burnt hits. With that same deck I can build a 24 ga coil of 6/7 wraps and be able to vape it at 50 watts with no burnt taste but the flavor is better at 40 watts. Same RBA deck yet a few variables involved where flavor is concerned.

Morning :)

@Rixsta Just go ahead and mail that Kabuki to me! lol

To late, I'm using it and not giving it up, I'm chuckling to myself as I sold all my smaller mods and until my Coolfire arrives, my smallest mod is 150w, dual battery box mod. I think the batteries will last a week. I have officially made the transition now and feel a lot better. A new start ..

Seriously though, The Kabuki Tank fixes a couple things I dont like about the Nautilus.. Mainly the build design..

(While it doesn't give me problems.. idk just different..) lol
Here is a better pic, I did say there might be a gush fest.. I think this on the Rixsta etched Coolfire mod is just going to look so good. Might have to get a ZNA Lite now with the money I'm going to save..

I would not necessarily say that the thinner gauge is a better vape or not, as it is all subjective as to what you are looking for. I usually build 26g in everything and run it around 20W - 25W for a warm vape. I have 28g in the FeV VS right now 8 wraps on 2.5mm for 1.4 ohms and I run it at 20W as well.

If you have a look at the Steam Engine site I posted in those links. You can play with the power setting in the Results Box on the right to adjust the reported Heat Flux of the coil. I try and keep my coils around the 200 mW/mm2 setting changing the gauge of the wire/resistance/ID and power will show the results in this box.

I run dual 26g, 6wraps each on 2.4 for a total of 0.4 ohms in the Big German. This requires me to run that unit at 37W to vape at my preferred heat flux of 200. I could run it at 20W for a much cooler vape at 110 on the meter.

It's all what you are looking for and my settings might be too hot for you and too cool for someone else.
I find the more surface area a coil has the better the flavor is for me and 30g wire has too little surface area and gets too hot to quickly and it to flimsy to rewick.
