Hi, I'm Desolation Angel and I'm a tootle puffer (whew, confession over!).

I much prefer the term "tootle puffer" to what my vaping daughter and son-in-law call me. "Mom, you're so old fashioned!" as they create their own atmospheres with the latest and greatest sub-ohm RBAs for which they just built the latest and greatest coils. Funny, they poo-poo'd this "vaping thing" when I first started in 2011...

After 32 years of 2 packs a day, I decided to try a cigalike in April of 2011. I was immediately intrigued. It wasn't totally satisfying, though. The battery was constantly dying, and fussing with the carts it came with was frustrating. So, I made use of my friend Google and found ECF. I quickly upgraded to the latest and greatest, the Ego, with some cartomizers. Now that I could do! I very quickly totally eliminated the last of the stinkies. Then, along came the NEXT latest and greatest - the Go-Go! I stalked the two websites that carried them at the time, and finally snagged a Go-Go setup. I was in vaping nirvana.

During this time my daughter and SIL came to visit for a day. I told them there was no longer any smoking in my house, but here, try these for indoor use. I had set up some extra batteries and cartos with various flavors for them to try. They were very intrigued, and surprised at how much they liked vaping. Before they left for home, I told them that if they would give vaping an honest try then I'd buy them each their choice of starter kits. They accepted my offer, and a week later were both cigarette-free. A win!

I grew tired of fiddling with constantly filling cartos before I got a nasty hit. I decided to try a carto tank, and I've not looked back since. My first tank was a bit leaky and required a bit of fiddling, but was still lightyears better than what I'd been doing. The only real downside was punching those *%&$ cartos! What a pain - but pre-punched didn't yet exist. Then, I found my vaping solution that perfected vaping for me. I managed to get a Jonboy Lava Tank. I'd love to be able to get my hands on a couple more of those beauties, because for me they are just the perfect carto tank. They are vaping perfection.

After about a year, I was vaping less and less and without even thinking about it, I put the vapes down. I remained smoke-free for another year until I developed Chrohn's Disease. Stupid, stupid me - I picked up the stinkies again. Hey, just one every once in a while eased the cramping in my gut! An OCCASIONAL one can't hurt, right? Yeah. Very soon I was back to my old smoking habits.

About a year ago I decided to try again, and went out and bought some spinners and evod tanks. They were okay, but I never could get the tanks to wick right without burning. I was going through coils way too fast. I upgraded to an MVP2, which I loved, but still couldn't get a clearo I liked, even after trying several varieties. I put the vaping gear away and kept smoking.

A few weeks ago I was visiting my daughter and her family, and she said "Mom, you have to try this juice. It's the best lemonade ever!" Always being partial to a good lemonade, I picked up her PV and gave it a try. OMG. I had to have that. RIGHT NOW. My SIL jumped at the opportunity, threw me into his car, and drove me to their local B&M to get me set up again before I changed my mind. I went along with his suggestions, because surely vaping technology has advanced since I used my carto tank! He had me buy an iStick 50W and a Triton tank with an extra pack of 0.4 coils. I got it all set up with 30ml of donated lemonade to hold me until my order arrived, and that just wasn't too bad. Then, a dry hit. YUCK! I'm a chain vaper. The Triton just couldn't keep up with me, and it was disturbing to see how quickly my clear juice in that tank turned a darkish amber. Plus, it leaked. Ew. I could only take a few hits before I had to set it down and let it rest a few minutes. That was not satisfying, and I was still smoking about a half a pack a day.

So, I got out my trusty Lava Tank and gave her a good bath, rounded up some leftover cartos, and set it up. There it is! That's my vaping. I am now, again, cigarette-free. My daughter has declared me hopelessly old-fashioned, and just sighs sadly at me. I don't care :)

I now sit here, chain-vaping, a very happy tootle puffer! And, apparently, writing a novel! :)

Lovely post, thank you for sharing, I have a feeling that a subtank mini maybe just up your street with a nice 1.2 ohm or 1.5 ohm vertical coil..

Nothing in the world wrong with cartotanks, unless you're one of those cloud huffers... ;) I still use one of my UDCTs daily, though my *main* vape is the Achilles RDA, atop the CoolFire IV...

As our thread draws to a close, I would really appreciate if some of the ladies could post pics of their blingiest and most fashionable tootle rigs, like Andria did above. I know there's already lots of pics, but I don't want to look over 750 pages...

I'm trying to push my wife over the edge. She just failed (once again) at quitting by "cutting back", which never worked for me or anyone else I know that's tried it. She's shown interest in my vaping, but still has (mostly BS) excuses for not trying it herself.

But she's a sucker for bling. Maybe you can help me push her over away from the dark side, and into the light.

On edit: @Katdarling --Don't just like my post! I know you have bling that you haven't even posted yet. Show me some goodies, lady! :hubba:

I found that cutting down was good... for cutting down. :D And it may have made quitting easier, though it kinda complicated my search for the "correct" nic level -- I already smoked ultra-lights, and had done for 20+ yrs, and when you factor in that I was smoking less than a pk a day of those, when I started vaping... I couldn't use anything higher than 6mg, while I was still dual-using/transitioning, or it made me really nauseous. Had to go up a bit after I ditched the smokes, but I've never gone all the way to 12mg; 10mg was the highest, have been at 9mg since I got the Achilles, and I'm probably going to 8mg on my next mix, thanks to a lot of insomnia with pounding heart lately.

One can ALWAYS find a good excuse to keep smoking, but no good reasons. If not now... WHEN???

ETA: check out Phiniac Etched Mods for those etched mods... really nice designs, and that "stardust" clear coat is VERY *blingy*... and they're not costly at all!!

I am torn between bombarding you with pretty pictures and the reality as I know it. Pictures don't cut it when trying to convince someone to try vaping. They need to choose and be a part of the process. Get her something of her own, something small and foolproof and let her play with it at her leisure without your prying or over helping. Anything of yours is just that......."yours" yet with her own gear she can work out the size and shape and even type of something she might like. Get a simple small vv ego type battery (istick maybe) an evod or something slim and small in a nice case with her own bottle of eliquid. Even a nice bottle adds to the experience.

Once she starts tinkering with it..... Move on to bling.

@Desolation Angel

Hi there. Welcome to tootle puffer paradise. :p

Jonboy tanks started me on my collecting obsession for acrylic carto tanks but sadly as I live in a different time zone I could never get one. I have a huge collection of the next best thing (elegance tanks) and use them everyday. I luv them.

Congrats on getting back into the game and trust me when I say you are not old fashioned.....just sensible. Why mess with what works.:thumbs::thumbs:

Exactly. I've never pressured her to quit, and I'm not pressuring her now. I'm just trying to show her ways to make it easier.

I'll check 'em out. But probably not a good idea for a starter.
Beautiful. But that's a very male attempt at feminine bling.;)
