I ran into 2 Marines doing some shopping for Toys for Tots in Walmart 2 years ago. They had a
large amount to spend and needed a couple hundred toys, games, etc. and other types of gifts. They both looked
really bewildered about picking out the age appropriate toys for the kids, especially ones that were some of the better buys. Same thing with choosing the other stuff. There was lots of indecision going on. I told them I was a retired elementary school teacher, and that my students and I used to adopt multiple families, with kids of all ages, for Christmas every year. I'd continued adopting them since retirement, too, so if I could be of any help I'd gladly do it. They both smiled
really big smiles and said, "Ma'am, we'll gladly take you up on that offer. Whew!" Spent the next couple hours with them choosing stuff. Was fun for me, too.
