Wow. Five years of daily use from a built-in batter mod? I'd say it doesn't owe you anything.

Now if it were me, and I really liked that mod, I'd take it apart to see what the battery looks like, and then see if there isn't one at a place like Hobby King that can go in its place.
Yep...this setup is all I’ve used and all I had for over five years. Which is why this new hoard of mine is overwhelming. I just about can’t keep up with what goes with what any more. I loved my simple setup. I have a backup coolfire in purple that I’m going to pull out very soon. I may buy another one as well.

@markfm thought you and others here might be interested in this... 7ml tank and it has a GT core adapter for between $3 and $3.15 depending on the color: Vaporesso Cascade Sub-Ohm Tank | Mt Baker Vapor

I grabbed 4, 2 of the black and 2 of the silver. The shipping was only like around $4-ish.

(You need to choose the color to see the discounted price, otherwise it just shows the regular price)
Good price, but I'll pass.

I'm at:
-9 (maybe 10 [emoji3]) bb-compatible tanks for 180 ccell heads. My favorite.

-2 tanks for 95 freemax nx2 0.5 ohm. Not ceramic, but really good flavor (recommended).

-2 tanks for the 130 kanger 0.5 ohm. Behind the ccell and freemax for flavor, but still quite decent.

Everything was on sale. The bb/gt ccell gear cost a bit, but are well worth it to me. The freemax and kanger tanks and heads together ran under $110 shipped (including the freemax twister vw tube with one of the fireluke 2 buys [emoji3]).

I did end up going for one of the $12 Tarot Nano kits, with a couple packs of the 0.3 ohm euc ceramic heads from vaporl. I'll be watching for a good sale on the 0.5 ohm euc ceramic heads (very positive reviews, and the lower wattage is better for a 2ml tank), though don't plan on getting more than a handful of them due to my healthy stash of the other tanks. Squonking is my preferred vaping mode, with rta for smaller eliquid batches.

My Coolfire IV didn't make it past about a year of use, but I kept it. If one can solder it in, it's an 18650.

I think I’m in the minority and prefer cotton over rayon.

Kount me in that group too. :thumb:

I think my 5+ year old innokin coolfire iv is giving up the ghost. It’s just not hitting as hard. And since it’s a built-in battery mod, it’s probably time to retire it anyway. I’ve been vaping on this thing daily and all day and for 5 years exclusively.

Thanks for the heads-up. I keep waiting for mine to leave this world, but it keeps cranking along (about the same age, I believe). I don't use it exclusively though, so maybe it'll hang out for a bit longer. We shall see, but it's been "Berry, berry good to me!"

Nice. I was thinking it was likely a pouch cell of some sort, but it being an 18650 certainly makes sourcing a replacement battery much more straightforward.

It looks like some Kapton tape would be required to do a workman-like job of replacing it as well.

Can I have some of your guru knowledge and help please?

I’ve had this atty for ages but I had the 510 version. I know my builds and I know what is safe but I have never been able to check this just the once to make sure it’s fine.
Can anybody explain to me the settings I should have selected and I guess red to pos and black to neg. I don’t need it very accurate just enough to test my own drippers and see if it works to any degree. If the reading is wrong but relative then I know this atty is fine

Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

2nd question. If this dmm is as rubbish and broken as I think then any suggestions for a cheap alternative just for a quick check. Cheers

On that meter, you already have the switch on top set to ohms so I would turn the handle to the position with the 2 beside it. It’s telling you what the top limit is for each range. On that setting it should go from 0-2k ohms. A cheap option would be a coil master atty tester. I’m spoiled, I have top end fluke brand meters at work and home.

What Hittman said. Before checking the atty, touch the red and black leads together and note the number, that will be the resistance of the leads. Subtract that number from the resistance you measure on the atty.

Red vs. black doesn't matter when checking resistance.

Nah runs to 0 on the atty and no number to sub as it just flicks about before settling on 0 lol.
    Thanks

What is that tank RJ, is that an Atlantis, or is that a rebuildable?
Aspire Atlantis version 1 that uses dropins. :) And I separately bought the 5 ml extended glass. The original glass would only hold 2 or 3 ml.

I suspect that meter doesn't have enough resolution in low ohms range to deal with atty resistance in the 0 to 1 or 2 ohm range. It's just giving up and rounding to 0.

I bought a few meters this year ( for non-vape reasons). Aneng AN8008 does pretty good in low ohm readings.

Not to be a butthead, but is the battery in the multi-meter good?

haha, I’m the butthead here although it’s performed like this from day 1 and if the recommendation for the other above is cool not much point in me hunting down and replacing the battery on this (probably cost as much as the unit)

    thanks a lot @Wow1420
That is cheap. You think it will do the job

My brother is still vaping on his 5 year old iStick 40 with an N mini on top. I've told him, when the battery is toast he should be able to get it replaced at an electronics or cell phone repair place so don't throw it away. This isn't worth trying if or until it really is impossible to get new product and even though I've got a substantial stash I'm still a little bit skeptical an effective shut down is really going to happen. It's encouraging that several state legislatures have pulled back from a flavor ban to protect menthol cigarettes and the Trump administration would like to get tobacco out of the FDA.

I have several of the 20mm Berserker MTL tanks and had leaking problems, similar to others, until I noticed an oring in the base that wasn't seating properly and since getting that right, no leaks. So if you have one of these and had leak problems the oring may be the issue.

FT still sells an RBA that fits that tank . But at back in the day (2015-ish) when it was a new product, it was a hit or miss whether you'd get one that had properly aligned wick holes on the chamber (if you look at the pics on FT, you'll see what I mean - the one in the pics has misaligned wick holes lol). Not sure if they're any better today.

I'm surprised it's still available, but it of does fit a lot of tanks so that's probably why.

There's also a 5-pack, and yes the wick holes are misaligned in the pic on that one too lol.
