If our government was working and our Strategic stockpile was full then everyone who wanted a bonafide mask would get one or a dozen. But since thats not the case people have to experiment with chemical hepa filters. Nice.

Some believe that Local and State agencies should be the 1st Line of Defense when it comes to Health Emergencies. And that the Federal Government should be considered as the Fall Back.

How well was Your state's preparedness in stockpile things like Masks and or PPE's or Ventilators?

Not Bagging on Arizona. Just say'n that ALL States should Except Equal responsibility if Blame is to be handed out.

It is amazing how ill prepared the government and states are for a pandemic. It is also amazing how quickly all the other things in life become unimportant compared to health and health safety. We are in a huge learning curve at the moment. It is interesting and scary both, but we will come out of it all changed. Hopefully for the better in the end.

I have never understood the blame game. It solves absolutely nothing and changes nothing after the event has occurred. I think time is much better spent finding solutions. Right, wrong....does it really matter? Deal with what is not would-a, could-a, should-a. Jmho

Disaster prep is something that we the voters expect someone to have put in place for us. Doubt we would be willing to accept the extra dollars on our taxes though.

The States deal with smaller local emergencies all the time. Sometimes, like with major hurricanes, the feds have to step in to help. There are a lot of possible disasters out there. We can't prep for them all, especially something this big.

Once something hits the fed has tools nobody else has, like the Defense Production Act and hospital ships.

I read the other day that Finland is the only country in the world that had everything they need. For historical reasons prepping is a national obsession. They have stockpiles of everything.

Finland has approximately 1/2 the population of Los Angeles county. Much easier for them and it's good they were ready. The US has a population of approx. 320 million people. The government cannot prepare for all kinds of disasters just like most people can't and aren't prepared. It's very easy to criticize what should have been done when you know what has happened. This wuhan virus is horrible but it is nothing that has ever been dealt with in the past. It also doesn't help matters that the Chinese government tried to cover it up. Our government is doing the best they can to keep people safe. Everyday new info is coming out and adjustments are being made. I would suggest that when someone hears criticism of the what the government has done when this started look at what the critics were saying then. What solutions were they proposing then? I'm just saying that hindsight is 20/20. It's also not the responsibility of the government to take care of us. That is our responsibility.

...

And this is what makes a Pandemic so Monumental. Because it is like Every State got hit by Multiple Massive Hurricanes all in the Same Month.

The Feds are Equipped to assists when a State gets struck with a Disaster. But Not Every State. And sure as Hell Not Every State at the SAME Time.

---

Funny Thing... The Federal Strategic Reserve can be used to Help a State in the time of an Emergency. But it's Primary Purpose is to Ensure that the Federal Government can remain Functional in the time of a National Emergency.

Like if the Reds decided to pushed the Button Down. Or if a Pandemic swept the Country.

In the Grand Scheme of Things, the thinking was/is that a Functional Federal Government was/is More Important than any individual State (or States).

I also made some with pelon filter, it is not as effective as hepa filter but it is the thick heavy sewing material. Actually any filter is better than no filter. Even pure cotton woven gives 50% protection with no filter. The masks I ordered in Feb finally arrived, they are decontaminating before I open them, they have the P.2 filters that are replaceable. Will see how well they work. Basically I am designated stay at home person & hubby does shopping. He has a N95 he used for painting, so he has pretty good protection for a mask. Even tho it has some paint on the straps LOL
Pelon... like the iron on stuff?

With a population of 5.5 million, it’s a little easier to stockpile. For example, NYC alone is almost 19 million

Well my batteries discharged at the same rate but still aren't charging evenly. Maybe the longer they're married the more synced they are, my last 2 pairs charged perfectly even.

They do vape a little smoother though and I definitely have improved battery life.

VG is still the same price at Heartland Vapes. $16.99 a gallon, $13.99 if you buy four. I've got four gallons in the basement, need to break one open for my next mix.

I saw a couple posts about face shields. Most welding supply companies sell headgear and replaceable clear grinding shields. Even if you don’t want to go out I’m sure you can get them online.

At least you didn’t put white binding on the red ones. I’d have to come take your temperature ;)
I know! That was part of the scrap fabric pile I’ve got going on. I’m actually not feeling well right now and to top it off, I had to have a dr appt on video (where I had to be naked) and still had to pay a copay. Since this was a video and I was naked, shouldn’t they pay me?
    I feel cheap now.....

Given the recent reports on Zoom hacking, it's not trustworthy for medical use. I've got an upcoming wellness check which I won't allow to be more than "Here's my bp and temp, please refill my existing prescriptions", and I won't mention what the rx are.
