With the exception of my very last liter of house brand I just received from Heartland, which was clear and odorless, all of my Heartland house nic has some odor. I used to describe this odor as "wet dog", but recently realized it's more like an ash tray smell.

About 1/3rd of it has some small degree of yellowish tint and those are the first liters I bought end of 2019/beginning of 2020 when they had all those $10 off sales. The rest, if it even has a tint, is undetectable by my eyes.

The nic that has this odor does have the same taste as it's smell if you vape it unflavored but you can also taste it if you don't have enough flavor in your mix. This is at 6mg. I imagine at higher strengths that could be a problem since you may have to add more flavoring than you want just to mask that taste.

From what I've read, some people actually like or even require this taste and is common with a lot of nic bases, especially in the affordable price range. My very first nic purchase was 120ml of NicSelect from Hearltland that I got in the starter kit and it has the same odor. Some say that nic with any odor at all is no good and should be discarded, but I think that's probably a gross overreaction from those who absolutely require a completely odorless/tasteless nic base IMHO. Or maybe I just want to believe that? :D But I can tell you that I have tasted this same taste in commercial eliquids and can smell sometimes in the vapor when the air is cold and damp.

I'm not worried about it much anymore. There isn't much I can do and I refuse to pay a lot of money for my addiction. So I'll have to take it as it comes. I've resigned to the fact that at some point my nic stash may become unusable and, at that point, I'll have to quit or vape 0mg to satisfy my hand-to-mouth addiction and use lozenges for my nicotine addiction. but I won't ever go back to cigarettes as I just can't take the smell anymore and can't imagine I would enjoy the taste.

It gets to the point where I have to ask myself, is an addiction really worth all this trouble and worry? I'm getting tired of worrying about it quite frankly.

For those who love the Pico and wish they had a few more, there's a deal at Vapesourcing, shipping from the US warehouse. The honeycomb resin version is available for $12.99 each with the Melo 4 tank, using coupon code RESINK. The Melo 4 tank uses Aspire BVC/Atlantis (non Nautilus) coils. The Vapesourcing US warehouse has a special through 2/19 with free shipping for orders of $69 or more after discount, so if you are on the hunt for Picos, five kits plus one Samsung 30Q battery gets you over the free shipping threshold. An instant mod stockpile for about $70.

I feel bad for the people who are stocking up on vape supplies AND guns/ammo. It's gotta be expensive.

As you point out, the best preparations can be defeated by some unexpected issue. I'm sorely tempted to get on a soapbox and go on about prepping and groupthink. But I'll just leave it that my addiction will hopefully be satisfied for a while, it's an interesting hobby to pursue, and I'm interacting with some interesting people here. The bane of any prepper are the friends and relatives who haven't prepared. If things go south, I'll just have to adapt to it.

I have unfortunately learned in the past 9 months that the family I thought were trustworthy turned out to be little better than strangers.

As far as my vape prepping goes, I don't have to worry about that. If I did know any other vapers in real life, I'd never let them know I have nic base if I could help it and as far as they'd be concerned I vape vape 0mg.

There were a couple people at my work that vape, but since covid and working at home, I haven't seen them. One of them already bought a couple bottles from me during the first round of covid shutdowns. I heard that he has since quit. But like you, I don't socialize over it. Had a visit from a nephew who came over with a 3-cell mod and a sub-ohm drop in tank. He was blissfully unaware of what's going on and admitted to no preps whatsoever. I had no urge to show him anything.

Out of curiosity, did you talk about the doom that seems to be what is in the future for vape and what was his response?

I have already had 2 panicky vaping friends call me and I reminded them there is still time to grab stuff online and they will be able to buy from vape shops (for now...) As strictly an online buyer I'm nervous (didn't see this mail ban coming) but yeah... I'll have adapt meanwhile and not give up the good fight. I still believe in advocacy and change can be made provaping.

Please try again now. I was under a 3-day ban for using the ......, and I'm not referring to the racial slur. When I tried to log in, my profile appeared with the words "Sin Bin" underneath my user name. I've about had it with the puerile censorship on this presumably adults only forum, but what can you do... It said the ban would lift on February 13, but I tried to log in all day and got the same response. It's after midnight, now Feb. 14. Happy Valentines day. Please PM me, and I'll send you pics of what I have.

In the photo that shows everything together, the surface I used for the display is 17 x 17 inches.

Just want to report something I think may be helpful for some just getting started in stocking up and might ease some peoples' minds who already have.

Some say that when you store nic in the freezer that it may be a good idea to seal the lid with some silicone tape, because electrical tape won't hold in freezing temps.

Well, I used electrical tape because I have plenty of it and didn't want to buy silicone tape, which seems to be rather expensive for what it is.

So I just took a bottle out of the freezer that's been in there for pretty much 1 whole year now. Well, the tape is not only sticking but it's sticking VERY well. In fact, it took quite a bit if force to pull it off once I was able to start it. No sign of it having pulled away from the glass or the plastic cap.

And here's the real kicker: it's Dollar Tree tape at 50 cents per roll (pack of 2 for $1). I already felt comfortable using it because it's really sticky for dollar store tape and seems just as good as more expensive brands I've used in my life. It also stretches just as well as the better brand's I've used. It takes quite a bit of stretching for it to break/snap at room temperature.

I have a feeling it'll be just fine over the years. Knock on wood.

Not saying anyone should take a chance on dollar store tape, but I think electrical tape in general is plenty suitable to make a nice seal in freezer storage. Just make sure you pull it nice and taught as you're wrapping it around the cap/bottle.

I am bringing this forward, because it is awesome! Thanks @UncleJunkle !!!

Thank you for bringing @UncleJunkle post forward @wvducklady I missed that one! I can second the dollar tree store electrical tape working great as I used it on my now 4 going on 5 year old bottle caps I am currently pulling from my freezer and it is still sticking very well. I also used it on the bottle fronts themselves as labels to write on with black sharpie and those look/stick like the day I put it there. Back then they had it in different colors red white yellow and black in a 4 pack. I even used it on glass bottles to write the name/mg of eliquid I had and used daily. Those bottles are still in use today with the tape surviving many washings and eliquid drips. Remembering back the trick for me was to make sure the bottle surface was super clean and not overstretch the tape around the lids or it did recoil undoing my best efforts, but I did stretch it just enough to conform to sealing around the lid with the ends overlapping.

Surprised that electrical tape works for labels. I personally use a paper label covered with clear packing tape. When I ran out of labels I just used a piece of paper.
