You can file leg grooves into the deck to make it easier.
I believe this pic is from trolldragon. The angle you choose to use is not set in stone, you can use whatever angle you feel works best for you. It's simple to do with a small triangle file.

It's still not as easy as a Subtank mini rba or kayfun 5 style of trapping system, but still better. This can be done with just about any similar deck, like an eleaf lemo.

I have situations where I want to use a factory coil head over a rebuildable, but it will only be for a short time (a day or less) and then I won't need that coil head for a while.

But the problem is, I find that if I leave a factory coil head unused in a tank for a while it tends to taste kinda funny and it doesn't last very long after that. One solution would be to just keep vaping it until it's spent, but that seems like a waste of a coil head since I'm vaping it when I could be vaping a rebuildable.

So instead I'm thinking if I remove it from the tank and keep it submerged in a little jar of PG until I need to use it again, maybe that will keep it from tasting bad and prolong it's life. Or maybe not. I guess I'll find out.
Why not just soak it for a bit and then dry it. I clean mine this way and reuse all the time. If it is a really strong flavor, I add a drop or two of mouthwash to the soak, then rinse and dry the coil.

    Soak in what? Water?
Yes, I use an ultrasonic cleaner but I used plain water before I got the cleaner. I use plain water in the ultrasonic except when adding a drop of mouthwash. I tried detergent in the past but felt like it was hard to get it all out of the coil so stopped doing that when I got the UC.

That's what I though you meant. I tried water years ago, but the end result was that the cotton wick dries hard does wick well and tastes bad. That's why I thought of a PG soak.

PG should work, I have never had the problems you described. I let them sit for awhile after priming the coils and they wick just fine for me. Maybe your water is hard or something.

Wasn't home most of yesterday and just read yesterday's emails. Apparently River Supply restocked "the majority" of it's flavors (still all 50% off). Nothing I wanted was restocked but I do see that TFA Koolada was restocked so they aren't lying lol. I ended up buying Inawera Coolada (no restocked)

So if you missed out when the sale was first announced, maybe you should look again.

No doubt, it's at least somewhat hard. I think that has something to do with it. I considered trying to soak in Ddistilled water, but will try PG instead. For me, I can reuse that PG over and over because I only vape 2 flavors for the most part and they can be intermixed.

I used alcohol to soak my coils in...mmm vodka flavored vapes were the best :p
I use vodka a lot to soak things and disinfect. Hubby saw the huge Vodka bottle out and thought I started drinking LOL! I don't drink because it causes inflammation, so told him it's just for cleaning vape stuff :)

For Longer Term storage, I would think that PG or Distilled Water would be a Good Choice.

I Don't Drink. Haven't for a Long Time. But back when I was new to vaping I put some Coil Heads in Vodka to soak them and kinda forgot about them. When I pulled them out about 10 Days later, the O-Rings looked a little Gummy.

Could have just been some Poor Quality O-Ring Material. But with things like Coil Heads getting Harder to get, Maybe PG or Plain Old Water would be a Better call.

Just thought of something, I wonder if long term submersion in water or even PG would rust coils that have an iron content in them, like Kanthal (FeCrAl). This might make rosesense's method of washing/drying more desirable over my long term PG submersion idea.

I did a factory mesh coil rebuild by cutting the mesh in half lengthwise and it doubles the ohms :) So I know that works. Have no idea if the punch holes or zig zag cut would work :)
It should. Any restriction on allowing the volume of electricity to pass through the material is going to raise the ohms.

Kanthal A1 has got a Lot of Chromium in it. Like 20+%. More Chromium than 316 Stainless Steel. So I'm not sure in Iron Oxides (Rust) on the Coil is going to be a problem.

Could be a Problem with the Coil Head Bodies. Because most of them are made from "Mystery" Alloys.

If I was doing it, I would just do a Warm Water Rinse and an Air Dry.

Doesn't this require oxidation for it to occur though? I mean it'd happen over a long period of time, assuming you wanna wait as long as the Titanic, lol.

I was looking thru my Kayfun supplies, I look out a Mini V3 to try with some strawberry jam monster. I haven't tried that KF before so a new experience :) I have more Kayfun's than any other tanks by far. I have plenty of 2019's so not worried about the 2021.
I stocked up on Kayfun Lite+ v2 clones back in 2016. Those are the only RTAS I have, and I still have yet to start building my own coils. Been using Zenith tanks . I've been debating picking up something newer in the way of rebuildables. I am strictly tight MTL (one airflow hole open on my Zenith). The EHPro True appears to be oos everywhere, so considering Dvarw MTL. And I love the look of the BP Mods Pioneer tanks, but not sure how easy they are to build for. Open to any recommendations.

On modern RTA, coil mounting will usually be easy. It's the wicking you have to fiddle with until you get it right. That will likely never change.

we must have had the same 2016 stocking experience, so many Kayfun Lite v2 clones in my stash still in the boxes! The easiest I found to rebuild was the Kanger Subtank rba, so if you have any subtanks (st minis) grab a few of the RBA or a subtank (st mini) and a RBA :) simple 2 post design, easy single coil and easy to wick with cotton. The other RTA I like is the Vapefly Galaxies MTL RTA 2 post, single coil, easy to wick design. I got the Galaxies MTL squonk RDTA too and love it. Yes, it's a bit older school gear but it works and perform well, keeping things simple.
