My exciting purchases today are curved needle nose tweezers, wire and cotton. It's still vape mail. :D

i had some of that too. Those curved tweezers work pretty nicely. Are you gearing up to start making your own coils or just getting new stuff?

That's no good, sorry to hear that. I ordered replacement Taifun yesterday from Gearbest so it will be awhile before I get it. Got another Kayfun too, plus glass for both. I ordered twice, lol. Both are Coopervape clones, so hopefully they make a good clone? I have never had that brand. The price was great, under 14 for each atty. I love my Kayfun v5 mini. It never leaks. Once I figured out you need to close the juice flow control before you refill it. Do that and you are golden.

I haven't tried the coppervape clone before, for my taifun gt 3 clone I got the sxk version, which in and of itself isn't a bad piece, its the juice wells are huge where the cotton/wicking goes, and there is some kind of balance you have to hit where your packing those wells with cotton while at the same time allowing enough room for it to properly wick... without leaving too much room or you will loose all your juice out the air holes..

I have literally gone through three full tanks of juice so far...but when you over pack those wells all you get is dry hits.. someone said they had good luck using yarn for wicking.. but I don't want to use yarn for goodness sake.. lol..

Other people act like they never had a problem one, but at this point I think they are just trying to be cool over honesty.. lol..

As far as the kayfun (v4) I just love the tobeco clone, I've looked at the 5 but that seems to have larger juice wells similar to the taifun gt3 and as I've had so many problems with that I worry it will be similar with that kayfun 5 due to the juice wells.. but I've heard coppervape makes excellent clones, so I'd say that's a great choice..

I've already been making my own coils. I've been using toothpicks to pack my cotton and it works rather well, but been wanting those tweezers for a while now and look to be very useful.

I have 4 outstanding orders from FT (three "claim" to have been shipped, but no movement on two of them for a week; the 4th I'm waiting on an item that's on pre-order.)

Just ordered 5 spools of wire from Lightning Vapes.

I now have more spools than I know what to do with, so I need to rig a bar on which to put the spools. Maybe. Hrm. Need to thunk about this :D

I have almost 3000' of various wire and am averaging about 6" used a month. I think 500 years worth was a smart idea on my part. :w00t:

Dentist tools work well for wick tails to fluff them out thin them and to pack place cotton on your decks , being SS pointed tools they last well , if your friends dont decide to borrow them

You probably tried this already, but are you closing down the juice flow control on it when you fill it? I hope mine is not a nightmare...I ordered a mini and a full size, haha. If it come to using yarn....mine will be way back in the stash drawer to open in emergency only, lol

Yes.. I have made absolutely sure the juice flow was closed when filling. It really is in the wicking I'm sure.. because if I pack in the wick and fill the tank when I open the juice flow control it won't leak.

But when I start cutting off a bit of cotton here and a bit there trying to get it right, there comes a time before I get the wicking right, that I have removed too much.. twice I have lost every single drop of juice in the tank the second I opened the juice flow.. (thinking i had it right this time.. lol)

I've checked o rings and they seem fine.. I talked to someone who said that they use it for a paper weight now because it did the same for them... others slowly but surely seem to figure it out in their own way..

But I will say it's not easy - although I have no experience with large juice wells either.. I've done kayfuns as well as a couple different gennies, this is a different ball game for me for real..

If you have more experience with a larger juice well, it might go easier for you. You have to cover those juice holes with cotton, enough cotton to prevent it from leaking..

So.. I decided screw it that I was giving it another shot.. (especially since I posted in another thread to try try try again on wicking various rtas.. lol)

This time, I thought about what people kept saying, most are saying they got it to work when they steered away from cotton right? So I have some ceramic wick that I haven't tried yet, and so I removed the cotton and tried a small piece of the ceramic wick..

I did NOT cover the juice flow holes.. I just wicked it like I would a kayfun, except I used the ceramic wick.. AND..

Wham bam thank you ma'am, it's working! No leaking yet.. I haven't a clue as to why!

Does the Japanese organic cotton wick too fast? Or somehow differently? I don't know.. but this is actually working so far!

I can pack then an not get a dry hit but i do have quite a few Taifuns from most suppliers and some genuine ones , i tend to fluff out the wick tails ,fold into juice wells an then use a dentist tool , to slightly lift them up again near the coils to allow better air flow , closer coil an wick is to deck tighter the draw , so its not tightly packed , no leaks no dry hits , i do find you can get dry hits if running it high wattage , which isnt ment for single spaced coil if i want higher wattage i run a SS spaced Clapton build 26g core 316L 32g wrap 316L SS,

I'm just curious, does using a spaced coil versus a micro coil make a difference you think? Because I've been using a micro coil build, 26 gauge Kanthal to 1.4 ohm..

Yay, glad that worked for you. Now it doesn't have to be a paperweight! I have been using Rayon rather than cotton. Will see in a couple weeks howmthat works.
