I have switched (for the time being) from kantal to ss building, and since I got another Pico yesterday and already have a couple in my stash, I decided to keep one out and use and boy oh boy using TC mode with ss is a very nice vape. I put the Melo 3 tank away that came with it and using my Toptank mini instead. I am running it with 28g 8 wraps spaced at 390F and 15W and it's so nice to not have it keep getting hotter and hotter as I like long pulls.

I would use claptons, but don't know what kind I should get for MTL vaping.

Ah, my nic for DIY should be in tomorrow, already got plenty of PG and VG, and flavors for the next 5 years. That's my stockpile goal. 5 years either I can still vape, or, it's basically been outlawed and, I have to quit.

I figured I shouldn't get the large gauges. I may get a roll off of eBay to try. Been wanting to try them, but thought the power needed to use them would be to high than I like to vape. Thanks for the advice. :)

EDIT: Just looked on eBay and found some 28/36 ss claptons so might be getting this one to try.

I have switched (for the time being) from kantal to ss building

I just recently just discovered SS and loving the vape. In TC along its becoming a much better vape than kanthal. I'm now with playing with power curves in ArcticFox for both kanthal and SS and I've improved the kanthal clapton by boosting the watts for a moment to ramp up the clapton faster.

I like the SS claptons spaced

Spaced claptons are pretty well all I(we) vape. I build a 28/32 spaced 1.4ohm kanthal clapton for my wife and now she refuses single wire builds. All I have is 24 and 26 SS for now and got some 28SS and 250' rolls 34 both SS and kanthal on order from lighteningvapes in EBay.

I would use claptons, but don't know what kind I should get for MTL vaping

I've been making the 28/32 kanthal claptons in a subtank mini, they been coming out between 1.2 and 1.6 ohms. That's what I take to work so they fire the provari. As long as you allow some ramp up time the claptons work great. My idea of MTL is learning not to inhale every vape. I take the monster cloud and just mouth it, need a nic fix then smaller vape so I can inhale. I'm not a high wattage vaper by any means, 12-40 is my range and now using SS, TC and power curves my clapton vape quality has improved. Looking forward to building a 28/34 SS claptons when my wire shows up.
What temp. do you set that at?
My SS temp is 370-400F but mostly hang around 380.

I'm also removing wraps from the set screw and it seems to be working. They say the wraps shifting may loosen screws, give inconsistent TC readings and may cause the resistance to fluctuate. The wraps just transfer heat and don't record in TC, just the core wire registers, wraps aren't needed so why have them.

I vape around 450 using Dna can be higher or lower it depends on builds , usually preheat of 24w 1sec then down to around 21w and 450F but depends on build and tanks im using,
Can be different on each tank Deck build , just play around to see what suits you ,

@FranC - I'm late to the party (AGAIN)..... $17.68 Authentic Wotofo Serpent Mini RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 2ml / stainless steel + glass at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

I love these things. Easy single-coil build. Wrap counter-clockwise - the legs will hit the channels much more easily. (Which works quite well for me, since I wrap coils left-handed :) ) I always have at least one in rotation - sometimes three (fourth is in my "stash" )
    Thanks,Dinger:)

New, fun things today.... Dripbox2, some o-rings and some replacement parts for my TFV8-Baby Beast. Yesterday was some eLeaf ECR heads for my Melo III tanks. Tomorrow, flavorings (I have a couple of juices I want to make in extra large batches :w00t: ) And tomorrow or Thursday, a bundle of goodies I snagged off the Classies...... Most excellent vape week for me :D

Damn, you guys are making me feel left out!
Nothing on order ... nothing I want to order.

Hey, nothing wrong with that! My "Perfect Vape" is whatever is in my hand at the time. I just like trying different things, so I'll dabble and snag a little this or that.
