That had to be tough! Early on in my quiting time tho I was like a bloodhound on a scent, if I smelled smoke I would hang around it for awhile just to enjoy the smell LOL Now I can't stand it, but early on loved it :)

The longer I don't smoke, the more difficult the smell becomes to be around.. I understand non smokers now for the first time.. lol..

This morning I was curled up with hubby while we were watching the news and per his usual he was smoking.. the smell just hit me wrong and I inhaled some of the smoke second hand and went into a coughing fit.. they are talking about cooler weather next week, and honestly I can't wait to open up the house and get some fresh air through here instead of air conditioning..

Been thinking lately about getting one of those devices that cleans the air and removes odors and such.. I think it will be nice to have if it keeps bothering me more and more..

Lol.. I'm probably just silly.

Robin, did he say what made him go back to smoking? I'm just curious because in the back if my mind There is always this tiny worry that this could happen to me for some reason.

He had a passion for vaping. I love him dearly but he was one of those that when they find a new passion, they go all out and get super involved. When they find a new passion, the one before gets dropped. His new passion became motorcycles and the vaping was just too time consuming. Smoking was simpler. He admits to having attention problems. :p He knows vaping is better for him and he does have his devices still. When he is ready, he'll come back to vaping. Or he may not. He knows that we are there for him if he decides to vape again :)

Don't be surprised iffin you see one coming in :D

Yes I do remember him. I am sure there are a lot of folks that have given up on vaping. I just hope the majority of the ones that have haven't gone back to smoking. My sister (she was tashababy here) no longer vapes but she didn't go back to smoking either. I really wish she hadn't stopped vaping though. She has a lot of health problems causing pain and she was surprised that vaping actually alleviated some of the pain. Sadly she is one that will follow whatever her doctor says and take whatever they give her to take. :(

There is another member that I am in contact with. He quit smoking with vaping and then quit vaping. He is happy that he is not tied down with anything. He even lost weight and really got healthier.

I'm sorry about your sister :( I could not like that post.

I would love to get a request from you  :D

No they actually work, even for cigarette smoke. Have a Honeywell HEPA air purifier since before I started vaping. Used to smoke in my room even though I wasn't supposed to and no one had a clue.

He may have been like my hubby. He actually went a couple of months with vaping only but then back to smoking just a few a day but mostly vaping. Now he still vapes but mostly smokes. I think if it weren't for me keeping up with everything he needs to vape he would go full time smoking :(

I went back to smoking once for a while, and then had to go through quitting all over again, but that was my own stupidity that caused it.

I had two batteries that I used to trade off, vape one while charging one, and they both got the same amount of use, and they both went out within a day or two of each other.

Ignorantly I thought I could quit vaping, so instead of buying batteries I just threw everything I had away. Figured it would be easier, and I didn't think I needed to vape anymore..

Well, I did not one thing to prepare myself for stopping vaping, and a couple weeks later I was stressed and wanted that comfort of a vape, but had no vape gear or anything. I bummed a cigarette from my husband, and regardless of how sick it made me I sucked it down anyway.. (I was a bit highly stressed)

Well, that one led to another, and before I knew it I had bought a pack, then a carton and was just smoking again. I wasn't as ready to quit vaping as I thought.. lol..

It took me a bit, but I realized how stupid I was being and went and bought everything for vaping again and stopped smoking, again.. lol.. now I have back ups in case something breaks, and know that next time I think of quitting vaping, that I will go about it much more intelligently and give myself time to taper off the hand to mouth habit and such, keeping gear around for an emergency after quitting.. just in general, know myself better next time and act accordingly..

So as far as why people go back to smoking, the reasons can be multiple, and not always just laziness.

I'm guessing that the FB request was you, Mattie? :)

It used to be that you could send a note with the request. Then they changed things and there is a place to find notes but I can never find it!

    Mystery solved. :D

    Nevermind......

I think that was probably me.:D You said to send a friend request, so I did. Lol

No sweetie, you are not being silly. I can totally understand where you are coming from. Thankfully my hubby doesn't smoke in the house. We moved into our new home Feb 2009 and after it taking us close to 25 years to finish building it we decided never to smoke in it. The 2 of us built it from the ground up as we could afford to buy the materials. After we got it dried in we put it on hold and concentrated on working and saving for the final push to do all of the finish work. I guess we are to proud of it to damage it with smoke :)

Hubby actually used one of the small hepa filter devices in his big truck because he smoked in there. It definitely helped so I am sure a bigger one would work in your home.

I have rigged up so many make shift smoke catchers,, took a box fan (and even did a computer fan once) I had the 'back side' facing the room/area.. then the fan would blow into a box filled with pillow stuffing.....the pillow stuffing captured a lot of smoke.. then you toss it or clean it... cheap enough to just toss. the computer fan version sat up behind the couch in a fancy box blowing into socks/wash clothes and another one in a small office above my chair & monitors. very rigged up I know,, but they worked. I spent plenty of time making them 'disappear' to the eye. --- bathroom exhaust fans work well too

thinking about the nic stashed in my freezer for the Dark Ages. What would you do with yours if you are ever able to be nic free? Would you give it to someone else? I would keep mine. It would be like the bottle of booze so many recoved alcoholics keep.
Just like I did with cigarettes, I would hold onto it for a while first. But, I do make juice for others too. So, I would likely keep most of it for them still and just give away the extra that they wouldn't use.

I never judge if someone goes back to smoking.... it could easily be me.

Anyone and everyone: Just know that we are here waiting to welcome you back. :)

I try to encourage those that are taking that step and quitting vaping, to keep at least a couple of devices and some eliquid (in the freezer) for backup. Just in case things don't quite work the way they plan.

I never sign out either. I'm usually on my phone or iPad and have it bookmarked but the page wouldn't load at all. For a brief moment I panicked. If this forum went away how would I be able to find you all. Then I realized that probably wasn't the case, got some coffee and sat on the balcony staring at the beach. :)
Oooooo staring at the beach sounds so lovely !

I have a few people that I have connected with on Facebook for this very reason. If the site goes down (happened a few times LOL and panic sets in) we can commiserate on facebook.

My facebook information is in my profile. I don't just let anyone, that asks, friend me there. But if someone puts ECF and screen name in their request, I would be more apt to accept the request. ;)
Good to know, I was thinking about a private FB group to for LVC "lone vapers" but anyone could join to help out the lone vapers :)

There are so many fb groups out there right now. I would hold off until after the court stuff is over. Right now in a lot of the private groups, there is a lot of discord over the regulations and everyone has their opinion (not a bad thing) and tempers flare.

I honestly would wait until it becomes a necessity. Just my opinion... ;)
