@Fozzy71 - How'd you get $200 worth of flavorings, for 40 of them? You must be buying all of them in the 30mL (1oz) size or the 120mL (4oz) sizes.

I know when I placed my first order for 28 flavorings, I was glad I'd bought many of them in the small 8mL size first, 'cause I've still got about 7-8 of those that I tried and didn't like them. Once I'd tried them all, and checked my recipes to see which I'd be using the most of...then I placed an order for those in the larger sizes.

I totally agree with this! There are a lot of flavors I use as accents, that I buy in very small quantities. I just don't use enough of them to warrant a 30 ml. I think I'm still using up my first sample size of some flavors I bought at WL four years ago. The few I have in large sizes are frequent flyers like Custard, Ripe Strawberry and RY4D.

I am looking forward to my $50 grab bag box of flavors from Azure. They said it would be 40-50 flavors! I'm sure I'll find a few new favorites in there, and it will be fun testing out flavors I might not normally buy.

I'm glad I'm stuck with unflavored and menthol crystals, I wouldn't know what to do if I had to find room for flavorings!

@JCinFLA @Iron Molly I already started going back thru my cart removing some. I should try dropping some of the new flavors to smaller bottles, or better yet just empty the cart again and start fresh checking my calculator and saved recipe pics/bookmarks and just pick the ones I need fr a handful of recipes. I went a bit overboard just tossing stuff in the cart the past few weeks. I also have another cart with 40 or 50 bucks worth of blends and real flavors at OSDIY as well....

Yeah start slow. I have quite a stash of flavors, but it's been over four years of DIY. 30 ml is a BIG bottle when it comes to flavoring, for me. I always try out a small sample size first, and find that it lasts a surprisingly long time. I think getting the flavors for a few recipes that are similar to what you like in store bought juice is a good idea. Find out what works for you and what doesn't, and slowly add to your hoard. The first two juices I made when I started were Blueberry Cheesecake and RY4D. They both came out great, and are still juices I mix to this day. Both were things I had previously purchased.

Yes, I will work on trimming it down more. Got it down to 30 flavors and <$140 right now and I am sure I can trim it down to under $100 if I work at it a bit more then I can probably just order it now so I can get back to mixing some new testers.

You sound as bad as me. I still haven't bought any flavors yet but I have a cart with 100 bottle sitting in it. I am narrowing it down by removing certain makes from the list.

Something that many new DIYers don't realize is that it's important B4 you make a flavoring order...to find several recipes you're SURE you want to make, and then buy the flavorings for those recipes. Too many who are new to DIY go through lists of flavorings and just pick out ones that sound good to them...based on candy they like, or fruits, or desserts, etc.

Until they look at a bunch of recipes and do some reading about DIY, they don't realize that there are definite types of flavorings you need some of, for most recipes! Most of those the newbies pick out are primary flavorings! Then they come on the ECF with a list of those and ask all excitedly, "OK, I've got these flavorings! What recipes can I make with them?" Huh??

(It's like going to the grocery store and buying all kinds of meats. Then coming home and asking someone for a good recipe to make a stew with it or dinner. Where's the potatoes, the carrots, maybe some celery? How about the spices? Etc.)

They don't know about the secondary flavorings (what I call blenders), nor accents, nor sweeteners, etc. Probably 90% of the recipes they'll find will call for some flavorings that are several of those types, if they're more than just 1-2 flavoring recipes.

I hate it when even online...you can almost feel the disappointment the newbie is feeling, when all they've bought is primary flavorings, and no one can come up with a recipe for them. It's a big disappointment for them for sure.

I agree, it is really helpful to look at/or try some recipes already posted online. You get an idea of what flavor does what and can order flavors from those recipes and tweak them to come up with something you like even better.

For example, I took a posted recipe for funfetti cake and tweaked it with blueberry and lemon. Imo, it is yummy and one of my new favorites.

My first attempt at DIY was a complete failure do to what you mentioned. I just grabbed flavors I thought I would like and knew nothing about blenders and sweeteners. I stopped doing DIY as a result. Have since gotten back into it by carefully choosing my flavors and getting some recipes of store bought juices I already liked. Made a huge difference.

Even on the DIY board, when newbies ask about starter kits for DIY, and/or where are some good places to get flavorings...many who respond don't mention the above to them. So, if they buy a starter kit that comes with some flavorings they can choose...they choose all primary ones! Or they will go to WL, or BCF, or elsewhere, and load up a cart the same way.

Some who respond just give them a bunch of links to DIY topics, blogs, etc., and hope that they'll go read them. But, there's usually no explanation of why they really do need to read them. So...many don't! I'm sure some regulars on the DIY board get tired of me posting similar things as I did above, but GEEZ...how are newbies going to know about that stuff if they don't know WHY they need to learn it?

well I've found the only problem with the tubular mods is the obvious balance problem. A slight knock on the table, over they go. But I think they look so much better. The difference in a decent looking mech is so much different to a box. I mean I like the look of the dna's and mclass mods but since I've been messing with my mechs. An unmistakable difference.
Sure, a little more to do and be sure of. But I love the tinkering and everything vape related just seems better.

Another problem is that I'm not very good at judging when a battery is done.
Taking ages. A week... I wish

Well I've only just started dripping again but there are some other authentic mechs I want as well. Only 2 but that sets me back £200, 3 rta's another £300.
Man, this is getting expensive.

Believe me, clones would be great but they just don't work for me.

I couldn't agree more. Here I sit with 40+ flavors of which I tend to use about 8 of them. I also made the mistake of buying some in the big bottles. Everyone seemed to be in love the FA flavor line,, I find it ok,, but not as good as hyped up to be for my taste. I found I liked other brands a lot more,, they were more than strong.....they weren't 'flat' and had some depth.

I wont order more flavors until I PIF/trade out what I don't care for.. and then I will only order a few to make any PARTICULAR recipe and nothing else.

Better head over and get some Provari's while the sale is on. You can always check the battery on the Vari so you always know when it will run out.

I used to use the little 20ml bottles to mix new juice, but now I mix in 100ml bottles now.
When you make a mistake though. I had a lychee and mango mix all done, thought I'd add a slight bit more mango. Squirted peach in it! Lucky it weren't custard! Peach will be cool.

I paid $10 for mine. I just saw some on youtube loved them and wanted a few dual battery mods for the vapocalypse. I probably won't get around to learning how to use them properly for some time but I know most suggest adding the fatdaddyvape upgrade kit before you use them.
